Can You Really Become Inactive Instead of DA'ing and Keep Your Family
by truth-or-consequences inoz branch coordinator terrence o'brien opined a number of times at about 1:00:00 until about 1:15:00 of his testimony, that a dub does not need to da, they can become "inactive.".
i sent our beloved angus stewart my personal experience, as well as observations about official borg teachings.

Let me clarify my previous posting.
I also agree with Witness My Fury. Because you have successfully faded this by no means dismisses the authority the Org will enforce if you are caught enjoying "worldly" pursuits. You will need to still exercise extreme caution if disfellowshipping poses a serious social problem for you. Those whom I know of who have successfully faded have no desire to involve themselves in the seriously taboo interests of the "worldly" as laid out by the Org edicts, besides zero attendance in years their only other behavior contradicting JW policy are secular education and accumulation of material wealth.

Do video games cause bad behaviour in children?
by The Rebel inmy boy is 10 and has got very interested in pocamon cards.
( a game way to complicated for me to understand) but i've also noticed it's linked to a computer game, which seems harmless enough but i also noticed advertisements for more violent games appear.. i would value people's opinion on whether, you think video games cause bad behaviour in kids.
i should mention my kid says i limit his time on these games, much more than other children's parents, and i was thinking of reevaluating that rule.. thanks.. the rebel..

My opinion is that the demonizing of video games was borne out of ultra-conservatism and ultra-conservatism seldom has roots in reality. They are people who have their emotional processes affronted and over react accordingly.
Video games can't make you a violent person any more than pornography can make someone comitt rape. These psychological flaws are already seeded and a demonstated propensity for violent games or pornography at most may only serve to make these flaws evident.
Combat veterans who are sometimes exposed to real violence for months at a time don't return home with the idea that's it's okay to kill people, they are able to make the distinction between the circumstances of peace time and war time.
I grew up with Zulus with whom it is customary to stick fight to prove bravery and settle disputes. Never did this suggest to any of us that it was okay to run around hitting people with sticks whenever we felt like it.
They tried to lay partial blame on video games for the Columbine massacre but psychologists have long since agreed that Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold would very likely have comitted atrocities in the absence of video games. Certainly people have done so without ever having picked up a control or watched a violent movie.
I believe ultra-conservatism has contributed and will contribute to more violence through propaganda and doctrine than any video game ever has or will.

I don't have kids but if my father showed up to support me in any context I'd be thrilled. I would assume that at seven consistency and support are more important than your concerns of indoctrination. Trying to counter the Org teachings would only serve to confuse him and possibly create a chasm in your relationship. There will be plenty time for this when he's older and his faculties better equipped. -

I know JW's who haven't come near a Kingdom Hall or picked up a WBTS publication in years. Some of them moved away to different congregations and simply stopped attending, others didn't move away but simply stopped too. As far as I know only a couple of them ever got Df'd.
The ones who got away with it though were either single or had spouses who felt the same way. It seems having a devouted significant other makes fading a lot more difficult.

The typical JW zombie mindset
by SecretSlaveClass ini posted this on a pro-jw site:.
this is the official policy sanctioned by the governing body.
it's not about indivuals being molesters/deviants.

Playing devils advocate, is there not a very small subset of convicted sex offenders who pose no long term threat as their conviction was based on their age and the age of the person they had sex with? I am thinking ONLY of those people in some relationship where one is just above the age of consent and the other just below.Of course you are right. But those fall into the category of "sex offender, statutory rape". This depends on age difference from state to state, country to country and culture to culture. In the end common sense and conscience must prevail.

Angel of the True God
by StarTrekAngel ini usually open posts such as this one with disclaimer for the atheists/agnostics out there.
i respect your position and what i tried to do in posts like this one is discuss the bible, wether you believe the stories or not.. i believe it is well known that in jw doctrine it is thought that no one has ever seen god.
this teaching is also supplemented by the accounts of moises, where jehovah told him that no one can see him and yet live to tell the tale.. i, however, was always puzzled by some of the grammar in the bible where it seems to imply that god appeared to people.

It says no one can see god and live. And the answer is simple. The Bible is full of contradictions.Exactly. One would assume this would be enough to question its reliability.

Jesus The Perfect Reflection Of The Father?
by JW_Rogue inso this week's wt study was all about jesus and the miracles he performed.
according to the study this proves that god wants to heal mankind in the same way.
because as we all know jesus is a perfect reflection of his heavenly father.

opusdei197219 hours agoI want to say that I don't think that all was negative in the early christians. Despite its crazy theology and deluded apocalyptic message, early Christianity cared for the poor. It seems that this teaching came originally from Jesus. I think this was his best social contribution. This Christian community invented a social security for the poor, and this is why this religion had success in that time. So, although I no longer believe in Jesus as the Christ, I think that those who claim to be christians must follow this thinking in favor to the poor, if they want to follow the best positive thing of the early christians. So, in my view, the Watchtower religion is against this christian principle. The Watchtower theology only takes the worst of the early Christian theology.
Excellent.
