An Example of JW Need2Get a Life

we have often times seen jw come here and say:.

why don't you guys get a life- well here is a perfect example of a group of folks who need to get a life.

while many of us left wt and have gone on to college and gotten jobs where we are able to provide these things for ourselves and our famiies poor jw are sitting around waiting to cash in thier new system coupon in order to get these things.

Isn't it the saddest stuff you have ever read? They are trying so hard to believe that these things will happen for them. That giving up what they do, it will somehow be worth it later. The Society has effectively taught them to brainwash themselves.

But most of it doesn't even make sense. How are they going to run these fancy houses without the "modern" technology of the "old system of things"? One person is looking forward to having a remote control fireplace that he personally designed. Hmm...How is he getting the energy to run it? Does he know how to make batteries or some other form of energy? How are they going to get and produce the supplies they will need. Stainless steel sinks, ceramic sinks, plumbing. They make it all sound so easy, like it will fall out of the sky for them. Most JWs don't have jobs in the modern fields of technology. So how are they going to make these things? There would be very few skilled persons to accomlish these things.
I laugh at the ones who are looking in field service and "picking out" their future homes. What if someone with more "senority" decides they want it too? How are these homes going to function without energy after the Big A?
One more person is looking forward to things like lions in the back yard! The animals in the garden of Eden were wild. They were not pets! I never could figure this out when I was still a practicing JW! The teeth and the digestive systems for some wild animals makes them meat eaters. Did God change their teeth and such after the flood? If he created them this way, then he knew that they would need them, I would think anyway. Otherwise, he created something that was imperfect for its needs. If they ate grass with these teeth before the flood then God knew ahead of time that mankind would fail and that meat eating was to be after the flood. Raises other questions doesn't it?

In the real life these ones are not only giving up their dreams for the new system that never comes, but they are also giving up who they are (could be) and the family and friends they could have from this "bad world". They have limited their thinking with closed minds run by the Society, thus limited their knowledge of so many things that bring happiness and make life worth living. I came out so late in life, but I am so glad that I am out.

the end is so close

god can you believe, it speaker talking about the end being so near we just have to keep going out in the territory (bother people who don't want to talk with us) and keep the magazines moving because the end is near.

she said you could here uh huh from some of the braindead.

the truly brain dead there just eat it up, can't believe people can still believe that after all the failures.

I hope that you are okay. I know what you mean about the pain. Many have the emotional pain too that makes the Organization look great. That is what did it for my Mom when I was only eight, dragging my two brothers and myself with her.

Hope whatever got you to the emegency room is feeling better now.

Well, the end IS near people. Every day it gets closer and closer. Maybe the Society has switched what "end" they are talking about now and forgot to tell us. Maybe the "new light" on the end is near now means our individual ends. Each gets nearer each days of our lives. And it can come suddenly, as a thief in the night, either by disease of accident.

So sell those magazines while the sun still shines!

Did ya get this guys? "Some" understandings have changed. Geeeez, the whole religion changed over the years! That's why they had to go back and change all the significant details in the reprints of the literature!
What gets me is that they see the changes but don't even stop to think for one minute to question why the changes were made!

Imagine living for the "surprise" of the new releases! I can't believe I did that. I remember being dissapointed several times too. I think the thought of dragging around the new theocratic school book will be a dissapointment for many, but they have until 2003 to get used to the idea....and the idea that since the Society isn't expecting to publish a book that won't be used until 2003 and beyond, or it won't be worth their monies and efforts to publish it! Guess the new system ain't commin' soon guys! LOL

Demons In Garage Sales or Worse

well guys, i've done it now!

our whole little town has a sale every june and this one was no exception.

while hubby was watching our sale, my oldest daughter and i walked around the neighborhood to see what we could filch out of our neighbors renderings.

Dear Mommie,
Were the intials of the sister D.B.? I am not sure who you meant because I don't remember the little brothers staying there and that farm is the only one I can remember and B's were the only ones that were JWs that I can remember. But I may not have realized there were others, or my memory needs to be reminded. If it the place, she was annointed ya know, so she should have known a demon suitcase when she saw one! LOL!

Cracking and popping and hissing when things burn is definitly a sign of demons. Squealing noises are a absolute sure sign from God himself! The demons are leaving to enter swine at the neighboring farm, so they are practicing their new language!!

The stories in the car groups!! Whew! There were some doozies! I quess they whispered them or talked in hushed voices so the demons wouldn't hear!? As far as topping each others stories, the JWs love to do that on ANY subject! Everyone had something worse or even better (if they are talking about good things.) than the next guy. It is the only entertainment they get.

The rural territory was great! There are so many old houses with stories of demons attatched to them! We wouldn't even drive into some of the driveways unless we had a brother with us! No wonder we are warped Mommie!

i have put in my final day at this year's test of posterior endurance---saturday at the district convention, 2001. i took quite a few notes today, because some had specifically asked about saturday's program.

i hope all will be suitably edified by them.

do not just listen to bits and pieces of the program, but to the whole thing.

I noticed that the experiences were from older times. Nothing modern. Nothing new exciting is happening enough to bring out, so they bring something from the past and apply it for today like it is significant. I guess the "new seeds that are planted" aren't sprouting and growing.

The new book and schedule is for 2003? Two years from now! Well I guess that the "new system" is not very near is it? It isn't even out yet and to make it worth the making it will have to be used for several years at least, so I guess that they are "subtling" letting the brothers and sisters that the end is NOT nigh!

They seem to be talking more about the bad "apostates" and reading "bad" literature at each assmebly and convention. In other words, don't think and don't dare ask any questions, just parrot what you learn at meetings.

Same stuff on "you can't make it into the new system unless you are part of "God's Organization". Study, study, study! Meetings, meetings, meetings! Bring in NEW ones! (To many old ones leaving!)Brothers reach out so we have someone to intruct at the meetings! (What they aren't saying is why they need all these new bothers because so many are either stepping down or leaving.)

Hi Francoise,
Yeah, Demons can enter objects, objects sold at garage sales and the like can be bought by JWs, then JWs can have demon problems in their houses. Many JWs will not buy used things for this reason. Many will buy at sales but if their are religious objects or books on the wrong things in the sale they won't buy anything at that sale. I am surprised that you didn't know this. Led a sheltered life in this area, eh?

When my first husband and I were having one bout, of the many bouts of marital trouble, we went around putting all sorts of stuff in the garage. I even tossed out a number of things I now wish I hadn't. We should have tossed out the religion and maybe our marriage would have made it!

One young couple had problems with the demons in their house and they discovered the demons were in the card table behind a door in the kitchen. Burned the table and no more demons. Now, tell me, if you were a demon, would you pick a ratty ol' card table to live in forever. And were did the demon go once it left the table? Did it hunt down another card table somewhere? Or is it like reincarnation, and it got to chose a better object to move into until it worked its way into a human? I can't believe that I believed this stuff and never once considered questioning it!

There are a lot more stories I could tell you and make you laugh.

Well guys, I've done it now!

Our whole little town has a sale every June and this one was no exception. While hubby was watching our sale, my oldest daughter and I walked around the neighborhood to see what we could filch out of our neighbors renderings. One the walk around we noticed the church down the ways was having a rummage sale. Darest I enter into the darn dundgeon of a church basement and slink around and see what I could find? Yep, I darest. Nice sale, lots of stuff, priced cheap too. We walked away with a nice clean spotless tea kettle that my daughter has been wanting to have forever, and only a quarter to boot!

Now I tell you, I expect that the tea kettle (No, it is not blue, nor does it resemble smurfs in any way.) will somehow pour water in itself in the middle of the night, ignite the gas stove and start to whistle about 2a.m. Or maybe it will sprout legs and climb the stairs in the night just to sit and stare at me sometime in the wee hours of the morning. (If it brings me tea and a donut though, I definitly will have to keep it, demonized or not.) It just might even find its way out into the garage sale tomorrow, plunk a sign on itself, and march up and down in front of the house yelling "apostates live here!" (Or worse yet, it could start handing out Watchtower and Awakes to the early garage sale visiters!!)

But one thing I now know is, that I walked into a church and came away from it without a guilty feeling in any part of my body. Never would have even begun to think of going into a church rummage sale and even more so, never would have considered buying anything there. How sad to have guided my life by superstition for such a long time. (JWs laugh at people being superstious of walking under ladders and not letting black cats cross their paths, but believe instead, that everything under the sun is demonized.) But it is now great to live with the freedom of real living.

Do they try too hard to be 'normal?'

it has occurred to me recently, that a lot of the behavior of jws in good standing is done to trick themselves and others into thinking they're normal.

when in fact, they're not.. example:.

when a young jw man goes to a 'gathering' he will drink one beer loudly and proclaim how good cold beer is!

I have to take exception to this. There are many JW's who give their children gifts all year long. I was one of them. I made occasions to give my children things. They got more stuff all year long than most celebrating Christmas got. I am glad I did it, because they got things all the time in clebration of the things they achieved and it raised their self-esteem. Our congregation had others who did make sure the kids had a lot of fun. Costume parties and lots of other things. Although I hear that the Society has gotten very strict now on activities outside of meetings. To bad. Glad I am not still in and glad my children never "took" as far as accepting the faith they were raised in!

But of course, all the gifts didn't matter entirely for my children because at Holiday time when all the kids were getting them all at once and everything is decorated. It was still hard. And how about how we were supposed to tell our children that all the lights were not beautiful and that they were like Satan, making him self pretty as an angel of light! What bunk! I told my children that the lights and such were indeed beautiful and we had other reasons for not celebrating. I would not tell my children to deny their feelings and their own senses.

I always hated how JWs denied the obvious. It twists the young minds.
"Service is fun and is a "joy". "Christmas lights are evil and ugly" "College will turn you into a sex maniac and a drug dealer." "Worldly music is evil and has hidden messages that will draw you away from Jehovah." "Dancing to close or wildly will make you have sex and get prgnant." "Watching TV and videos above a GP rating will cause you to be violent and murder people." "Reading literature other than JW stuff will cause you to leave the path of righteousness and rot your mind." Going to the Prom and other dances will make you want to leave Jehovah because you are associating with "worldly" people because they are all doing drugs and alcohol." "After school activities are out, you might think thoughts that will draw you away from the "truth", because you are getting to much "wordly" influence and the time is better spent out in service and they take away precious study time." "Can't date. If you do it better be a JW, and you had better be a group date or else chaperoned, or you will be drawn away from the "Truth" and die at Armagedden."

And the list goes on and on and on.....All things to keep you and your families roped and tied.
