I got out of the Borg by following my heart. I had been unhappy for years, with frequent thoughts of suicide. I felt invisible. My world kept getting darker. Then I met someone (now my husband) who made me feel important and HAPPY! I had a choice: either stay in my suffocating world for everyone else and be miserable or follow my heart and be happy. As an act of self-preservation, I left the only world I had ever known. At the time, I thought I was leaving a bad marriage. Looking back I can see that I was also leaving a religion that was destroying me.
I've NEVER been HAPPIER!

If you were the Creator what would you differently?
by jam ini would appear to mankind periodical, maybe.
what would this accomplish,.
there would be no doubt where we came from.. no doubt there would be one religion, no satan.

Jam,
I had the same thought. I would make it clear to the world that I existed. If I had any requirements of them, I would make them clear-cut, straightforward, and obvious that they came from me. If anything cropped up that caused my most intelligent creation to speculate about me, mislead them into believing untruths, cause confusion or harm, I would swiftly eradicate whatever it was.
I would also create things with a variety of foundations. DNA is the building block for all life from plants to humans. I would use my infinite abilities to make things that are completely different from each other, but still work well together. Creativity!

I grew up a JW and never knew most of my relatives because they were not JWs. The grandparents, aunts, and uncles that I did know were not much more than acquaintances because they were "worldly". My parents were the only ones in either of their families to be JW so I grew up without any family interaction. Now that I'm not a JW, my mom won't even make eye contact with me. I am dead to her. AND I have no relationship with my "worldly" relatives either. I am just now starting to get to know some them, but it's a long, slow process because they don't know me, either.
Even if you do have family that are JWs, they will still treat you like dirt if they feel that you are not strong enough Witnesses. My ex's family taught me that.
So, "strong family bonding"? Yeah, like the mob.

Urinary Tract Infection=proof of premarital sex

Nickolas, I agree with you. The main reason I am not bothered by my mother's absence in my life is that I've come to the conclusion that she just isn't a very good/nice/kind person. She treats her family badly and is sickeningly fake, super-sappy sweet around the JWs.

I was 17 when I had my first UTI (and it was...ahem...from sex ). Anyway, as my mom and I pulled out of our driveway on our way to the doctor, a carload of "sisters" drove up. Both cars stopped, one in each lane, and the "sister" driving yells, "Where are you going?" My mom yells back, "I'm taking FM to the doctor." "Oh, what's wrong?" And my mother yells back in a tone of voice that tells everyone within earshot WHY, "She has a bladder infection!" She might as well have added, "the little slut." Ya, thanks mom. The "sisters" didn't say anything else, clearly getting the picture.
It still hurts to think about that, especially now that I'm older. Having a better understanding of things makes it hurt a bit more.
I'm dead to her now, and oddly that doesn't really bother me.

Welcome, C.O.B.E.Beef! You are in good company here. There are many here who share your situation, so you are by no means alone in your struggles!
As Witnesses, we were raised to believe that there is an answer to everything (that conveniently comes from the GB), and uncertainty is a sign of weakness. However, in reality, the opposite is true. A Latin proverb says, "Where there is doubt, there is freedom." Embrace your doubts and uncertainties, as they are your keys to freedom. I wish you strength, patience, and peace in your journey.
