My daughter attended last week on Sunday also for family reasons. She expressed how totally depressing it was plus she can't handle the lighting in there, they give her severe headaches. I told her "you don't have to go there you know." The things you do to try and please grandma.

In a neighboring town, an older sister shot herself, a year later her best friend another sister in the same congregation shot herself, then a year later to the day her husband shot himself. Also in another congregation in the same district two young men who were raised JW killed themselves. This all happened within the span of about 4 years.

I think that brothers that impersonate psychiatrists and give medically wrong advice to others should be arrested!

Did you fake a prayer at the dinner table?
by fade_away ini was terrible at prayers.
it was hard for me to talk to someone i can't see or hear.
everyone else put their heads down at the dinner table so i needed to do the same or i'll look suspicious.

Yes, I recall having faked it a time or two.

Increase in demon activity?
by Igot2bme inwhen i first started studying i was told that i would notice that the demons would try to stop me from recieving accurate bible knowledge.
well i never really witnessed anything unusual like objects flying through the air, bleeding walls, increased nightmares or something of that nature.
almost all the people that i know who have become baptized have a story or two about this having happened to them.

Lost Legitimate Opportunities For Love
by PublishingCult inwhen you were in the organization of jehovah's witnesses, did you shun legitimate courtship attempts from "worldly" men or women who were otherwise very desirable and suitable because they were non-believers?
.
did you fancy them as well, but tried to get them to study and come into the organization in order to justify the relationship?.

Sounds like a friend of mine who is a JW. She has been pursued by many eligible, handsome, bachelors, in the world but always held out for that spiritual brother but not just any spiritual brother one of elder or CO status. She has neve been with a man. She is also very kind, spiritual, pretty, intelligent, and witty but the brothers that she is interested in are having nothing to do with her other than being her friend. They seem to go for the gals who are in the 20 to 30 year range and she is 37. I have been on the phone with her too many times to count consoling her as she is crying her eyes out in frustration.

Is there a new "full court press" to bring back "lost ones"?
by tenyearsafter ini ask the question because all of a sudden i am getting bombarded by my mother and other family members to "take my wife's hand and run back to jehovah before it is too late"!!
i am getting e-mail with screen shots of the un website (http://www.un.org/en/peace) stating "peace and security", being told that this could likely be the last memorial celebrated and that the door to the ark will be closing soon.
has anyone else been seeing an up-tick in these "prodigal son" appeals from jw friends and family?

I have the same sister that comes by on a regular basis (one time a week). Her visits haven't been any more or less urgent, just the same old rederick from the hall. She also brings me the latest mags but they don't contain anything ground shaking in them at least to me.

I have a question...
by Igot2bme ini have been contemplating this and i don't know if this has been covered or not.
i have been thinking that if the facts of things were disclosed to me from the get go such as the wts being associated with the un, or the wts blood guilt in connection with malawi, or various other things that i feel were kept from me and countless others in the religion you would think that you could have some kind of recourse when daing like bing able to overturn your baptism over on the grounds of false or misleading information or withholding valuable information.
i know that i wouldn't took the plunge into baptism if i would have known then what i know now!.

Well and the reason I have posed this question is because I am thinking serously about DAing myself not because I wanted to pursue a bad course or because of something I have done that was deemed inappropriate. I blame it on my strong sense of justice, but I faded because I found untruths associated with the Org. I wholeheartedly believed my religion was not blood guilty, because of the blood guilt that is on the Watchtowers hands I feel god is not with them. I know that life is not fair, but to shun someone for the wrongdoings perpetrated by the Org is morally sick and twisted.

That is where I have to disagree. It is my right to know. I and many other gave years to a religion who called themselves the truth. If they are not being truthful and not disclosing the info to us they in turn I feel make my baptism completly null and void.
