Look, I don't think she can leave you for leaving the witnesses. What if you stopped going to meetings, but didn't talk about why? You can stay married (and in your kids lives) AND be 'innactive'.

One Reason Why I Speak About Racism

if anyone cares or dares to read this, this is how it was when i was 13 years of age.. the gap in funding for black and white kids' education is still stunning to me 46 years later, but it's there in black and white.. it's a testament to our determination and fortitude that we acquired an education at all.. this, in the richest country on the planet!.
for your edification and, hopefully, understanding.. syl.

After responding to 1,300 classified ads with dummy resumes, the authors found black-sounding names were 50 percent less likely to get a callback than white-sounding names with comparable resumes. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/09/29/national
/main575685.shtml http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&q=black+names+for+job+search&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=
See, that is why I believe we do still need affirmative action. Today people with white skin still enjoy a huge unfair advantage over people with dark skin in tha labor market (and other places in society).
The best qualified person should be hired, but in the case of two equally qualified candidates we need to be working to offset the fact that people with black sounding names are 50% less likely to get a callback for a job than someone with white-sounding names. It is not fair that whites have an advantage due to their skin color, right now, in this country today.
Right now, a white felon has a better chance of being called back for a job interview than a black person with no criminal record. http://www.princeton.edu/~pager/race_at_work.pdf
We have a long way to go.

Long Distance Adultery and Other Issues
by buddhaisbetter inallow me a moment to introduce myself: first of all, i am not a member of your faith as surely can be garnered from my choice of user name.
i joined this forum with the intention of getting some information on a situation i'm forced to contend with that concerns my son.
my questions are not designed to bash your beliefs, regardless of my personally held opinions and i hope that any discussion can be conducted without contention.

Oh man, oh man.
First off, most of us are EX-Jehovah's Witnesses. You came to the right place.
There's NO WAY they told her that she can still text and chat as long as her husband knows.
Please undestand the the JWs are a high control group, some say a cult. Yes, she has free will, but...she is trapped. She is ...screwed. Also, like many people raised JW, she is a mess emotionally.
IF she admitted the affair and the elders found that she was repentant, they might have let her stay a JW. However, if she is found out for continuing the affair she will be disfellowshipped...kicked out of the JWs and treated as though she is dead, probably even by her own family..maybe even her own parents...(ask around here...many posters here have been through this). She will lose everything and everyone. IT is very, very serious and probably the reason that she can't just leave her husband.
The most troubling part of your story is that your son is studying with this dangerous group. You must be careful how you deal with this because depending on how far into it he is, opposing him could drive him deeper into this group. Others here will give you good advice on how to proceed...

Small ebay sellers, can you make it work?
by ballistic inhi guys.
i know there's a few ebay sellers on here, so sorry for the totally non jw themed post... but.... i am out of work at the moment and the job situation is quite bad here in the uk for it workers so i decided to start selling small items on ebay.
with uk amounts in pounds sterling, this is how selling a 99p item with 91p postage breaks down:.

Ebay used to be so great. I would go to yard sales and pick up junk and collectables and sell them on ebay. I would support my family two months out of the year that way.
Those days are gone.
Small sellers of low $ items are out. With the fees and other stupid changes (like you MUST take paypal, no more level playing field in the auction listings, etc), we can't make any money that way anymore.

Help me learn - please
by akelly inhello, i am a nursing student studying religions.
would you please help me by answering a few questions?
(1) what is your spiritual perspective on healing?.
-
lisaBObeesa
Alicia, I'm not sure if you were looking for typical Jehovah's Witness answers to these questions, but be aware that this message board is populated by EX-Jehovah's Witnesses, so the answers you get might not reflect the answers a JW might give you...

Feel the Love
by FlyingHighNow ini want to take this opportunity to start a thread inspired the poster dark side.. sometimes people come across on here as mean spirited or hopelessly grumpy.
and it's obvious when you read their posts that they are good people and really just need some soothing healing love.
so please, use this thread to spread some soothing, healing love to anyone, especially the social porcupines.

There are only two black and white choices mentioned here: 'speak out blunty' or 'be a silent cow.'
Certainly there is a huge spectrum of other options that a person may choose from.
For example, a person may choose to stay silent on some matters and speak out on others. A person may speak out, but do so in a very indirect way. A person may be silent but work against things he doesn't agree with through other means than speaking.
The options are really endless.

Legitimate question maybe a lesbian could answer for me?
by WuzLovesDubs inup front and first off....some of my bestest friends on the planet are lesbian and i love them to death so this has nothing to do with acceptance or not of it.
im all over same sex marriage and respecting all human beings' rights to live their lives as they see fit.
i was wondering...and i have wondered this for awhile....why some lesbians, who obviously dont like men, then choose to dress in men's clothes, have men's haircuts, wear men's shoes, flatten their chests, wear no makeup and look and act like men.
-
lisaBObeesa
er. I'm not a lesbian but... isn't this how straight people dress?
I guess I don't understand why they would want to take on the persona and appearance of the sex they arent attracted to?
