  Insane people are more vulnerable to suggestion, insane people are the ones most likely to actually take action based on the angry, hate-filled rhetoric they hear. This whole thing was foreseen by many. It was only a matter of time before some nut started shooting at those (democrats) that have been painted as enemies of America by folks like Palin and Beck.

  The sheriff pointed to the vitriolic political rhetoric that has consumed the country as he denounced the shooting that claimed several of his friends as victims, including U.S. District Judge John Roll. The judge celebrated Mass on Saturday morning like he does every day before stopping by to say hello to his good friend Giffords.

  “When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government. The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous,” the sheriff said. “And unfortunately, Arizona I think has become the capital. We have become the mecca for prejudice and bigotry.”

  Fox News confirmed that a 22-year-old white male named Jared Loughner was taken into custody as the alleged shooter. Police reportedly had also arrested a second suspect.

  While there is no hard evidence at this point to suggest that the shooting was politically motivated, Matt Yglesias points out that an anti-Giffords event was held in June with the billing: "Get on Target for Victory in November. Help remove Gabrielle Giffords from office. Shoot a fully automatic M16 with Jesse Kelly."

  Rep. Giffords was also on Sarah Palin's "target list."

  As noted earlier, a gun was dropped at a Giffords event in 2009, and her office was vandalized in March.

  this letter, left by man who was sexually abused as a child, commited suicide after being unable to function in his life post molestation.

  it's very disturbing and may cause triggers from those who are survivors of sexual abuse, so this is my warning to those that may be very sensitive to this issue as from what i have read, left a very powerful and raw sense of emotions while reading this...... wow, gave me a very powerful insight, i'm beginning to understand....although i do disagree some key points he has addressed, but sadden he's no longer with the living.

  Dead Birds And Fish

  does anyone have any idea why birds are literally dropping dead from the sky in four or five states.

  and even in sweden,hundreds of birds are dead.

  and fish are turning up dead too,not only in the states,but also brazil and new zealand.. they're trying to say new year's eve fireworks frightened the birds to death.

  They floated the idea of it being a loud sound that might have killed the birds and I think that could be it only because I have a little experience...

  When I was a kid my friend and I yelled 'boo!' at a birdcage full of little finches and like 5 of them fell over dead, just like that.

  Man, we felt terrible...It was awful. Poor birds. We didn't mean to kill them...
