  No, because no fraud was exposed.

  There are, however, numerous threads full of posters stating their opinion that Johnny is a fraud and why they are of that opinion. And he well might be a fraud. But we don't actually know for sure.

  JW superstitions about the memorial -

  now that we are all thinking about jw memorial - i was just remembering all the silly superstitions the jws have put around this - their only holiday.

  as far as i can tell, none of these are actually biblical:.

  1) - it must be held only once per year.. 2) - it must be held on "nisan 14".. 3) - it must be held after sundown.. 4) - the bread must be unleavened.. 5) - the wine must be plain (not fortified) red wine.

  I remember as a kid thinking...

  'But Jesus said we SHOULD do this in rememberance of Him....why are we telling people NOT to? This seems wrong.

  And weird.

  'And if we are NOT supposed to do this in rememberance of Him, why do we have this meeting to NOT do it? Why can't we all just stay home and NOT 'do this' in rememberance of Him?'

  I thought it was so strange to watch the bread and wine go all around the room just so everyone could NOT do what Jesus clearly said to do. Weird. Spooky. Strange. off. ...........wrong.

  I remember listening to the careful explanation of why we should not eat the bread or drink the wine and wondering if everybody understood...? Because if you just read the Bible it would be very easy to think that you SHOULD eat the bread and drink the wine. The brother was always very clear in his explanation.... And I understood it....but it didn't make any sense. I would look around and wonder if all these people really believe this stuff? I would wonder...'Isn't there one person here having the same thoughts as me?'

  I also hated the cerimony and all the serious junk that went with it. What, you guys are going to try to pretend you are actually a religion for one night a year?

  And pretending it was. Don't be too joyous...this is a serious night! Don't be too serious! This is a joyous night! All the studys are here! The world is watching! Get it right! IT must be perfect!

  Walkill Bethel Recreational Facility

  my wife and i just visited some friends over the weekend from another congregation.

  these two are both full time pioneers, and also participate in various construction projects around the country.

  the husband just got back from a 3 week trip to walkill, new york to help with construction on a new residence building at 'the farm' (does anyone call it that anymore?)..

  maybe they are doing this because the stress of living at bethel is causing so much mental illness/depression...? Maybe their doctors told them they need to treat their slaves in a more humane way...?

  Well, I hope nobody is planing to have any (evil) competitions on those ball-courts. Because, you know, if things get out of hand and people start having FUN and making teams and stuff the powers that be will have to shut 'em down.

  The real story about the tea party movement

  i started this thread because some people are telling lies in another thread about the tea party.. i am one of the volunteers that helps arrange and put on tea party rallies in southern mississippi.

  we do not have a membership roll.. we are not a political party.. we have one basic issue that we are addressing, which is: we want federal spending to be lower than federal revenues.

  we do not say how this is to be achieved.. some liars on this site are claiming that the tea parties are actively pushing to achieve the balanced budget by cutting only liberal policies.

  i've been playing around with this strategy for awhile.

  how could i crack the defenses and get a jw to read crisis of conscience, captive to a concept, etc., or just some reasoning points in general on blood, 1914, the history of the wt organization?

  i want to help my brothers and sisters, i am still inside for a while longer and feel like i need to do something more tangible.. so i was thinking that if a flash drive was "accidentally" left on the ground in the parking lot.

  Lisa, then again there's the role also given by the GB of the "disgruntled apostate".

  I see what you are saying, but guess I see it differently.

  I don't see 'disgruntled apostate' is the role they give ex's... I think that is how they paint ex's to the people on the inside (and outside) to keep everyone in their roles. You're not supposed to take on that role.

  If you are an active JW, you are taught how you are SUPPOSED to act if you should happen to be disfellowshipped.

  You are supposed to be quite and invisible and never speak against the org. Those are the JW rules. That is the Org approved role of a disfellowshipped JW. That is the role that is required for the the machine to keep working.

  This thead is going to make my brain explode...must....back away before it is too late....

  White people ARE priviliged in the United States.

  White convicted felons have an easier time getting jobs than men of color with no criminal record. This is a problem! THis is deep, institutional racial bias at work every day. Please don't put your head in the sand and think everything is fine and the playing field is now equal. It is NOT.

  Oh and a black doctor and white doctor have to earn the same degree. sheesh. what is wrong with people.

  Oh and affimative action only says to favor the minority applicant if ALL OTHER THINGS ARE EQUAL. Affirmative action is not hiring less qualified minorities.

  ugh.

  And I really can't remember the last time I saw a black doctor except on TV.

  I.e., your plan has about a 1/5 of 1% chance of actually working.

  Most efforts to get people out of the WT have similar odds. And doing nothing has a 100% chance of not working to get someone out.

  But there is a more important reason to drop flash drives or resist however each person can....If we remain silent and do not challenge JWs, we are a part of the big machine of the Watchtower.

  Silent exJWs are a wheel or a cog in the machine of the WT just as much as the elders and the GB and the rank and file members. Silent exJWs play the part given them by the WT.

  99% of the MILLIONS of exJWs out there will not do anything to speak out against the WT or to try to get others out. They just won't. That's why the Watchtower can continue.

  But that doesn't mean the 1% who do speak out or try to do something covert to resist should give up, too. At least the people who drop flash-drives and the people who make web sites and the people who make youtubes and the people who carry signs of protest and the people who resist in some way, no matter how small or secret, are not a part of the machine.

  The resisting itself is the thing. It is only by actively doing something against the machine that we ourselves as exJWs are not part of keeping the WT machine running.

  It is only by resisting our 'role', covertly or not, that we break free from the machine. Otherwise, we are just a part of it.

  This idea reminds me of a book I read: "Every Man Dies Alone."

  It's about a man who lived in Nazi-controlled Germany. He wanted to resist somehow, so he wrote anti-Nazi postcards and secretly dropped them around town where others would see them and pick them up.

  He hoped that the postcards would inspire others to resist the Nazis and that maybe the cards would be quietly passed from hand to hand inspiring still others to resist....but instead, almost all of them were instantly turned over to Nazi officals.

  The big question of the book is: was it worth it? Was it a good thing to do even though the postcards were not as effective as he had hoped?

  At first it seems like it was just a dangerous and futile exercise. A huge risk, all for nothing.

  But by the end of the book I had changed my mind.

  I think that however we can, we ought to resist. Our humanity demands that we do something against evil. The only really futile thing is to stay silent.

  (it's a really, really good book, based on a true story. And those postcards did have some effect...just not quite in the ways the man had imagined they would. )
