Also...There is no 'perfect' church where everyone in the church believes what you believe or what I believe.
But there are churches that are close to your beliefs and where they accept and love you even when you don't believe all of their teachings and they don't believe all of your beliefs.
Outside of the unnatural high control of the Borg there is freedom to believe exactly as YOU believe and there is acceptance, and there is real LOVE.
What what is most important? That the dogma is exactly right or that there is LOVE? Jesus didn't say you would know his followers by their dogma...

You may be surprised to learn that you can be a member of a 'normal' (one that is not cult-ish) Christian church and disagree with some of the teachings.
It is ok. People are not robots. You can't have a huge group of humans and have them all agree on EVERYTHING. (if you do find a large group where everyone agrees on everything a) it is a cult and b) people are not being honest about what they believe.)
think of it this way: RIGHT NOW you are going to a church that you don't 100% agree with.
It only seems wrong to go to another church that you don't 100% agree with because the JWs have told you for years and years that other churches are evil and bad.

Moving out doesn't seem possible either, although I can afford it, I would never get my parents blessing.
You don't need their blessing. Not even the Jehovah's Witnesses have a rule against simply growing up and moving out on your own.
Disassociating myself would give me the freedom, but my family would hate me.
I've also gotten the gist that my dad would have to step down as an Elder. My brother couldn't change congregations while living at home; dad would have had to step down.
I don't want to hurt anyone.
If only they worried about not hurting you the way you worry about not hurting them...
Your dad joined a religion that said if his adult son left the faith then your dad couldn't have a stupid status position in the religion and would be socially disgraced.
HE said, "Sure! That sounds good and fair and Christian to me! Sign me up!"
Whelp, he followed all the rules, and if you DA he is going to be 'punished' for something he did not do, something he has no control over, and something that is not even wrong.
That is REALITY. And he has to face this reality, sooner or later. He picked this F'ed up religion that would disgrace him for NOTHING.
You can't live a lie to protect him from the reality of his mistake. (Besides, no matter what you do, he will probably protect himself from that reality quite well on his own.)
HE picked the wrong religion. NOT YOUR FAULT.
YOU are not hurting him, you are just being who God made you to be. The Org is hurting him. His own choices are hurting him.
(All that said, I would move out and try to FADE instead of DA-ing...if it were me.)

Anyone Else See Les Miserables?
by BizzyBee ini went to see it today - by myself (mr bee is on a golf junket).
i was glad that that i was by myself because i cried so much at the end, i wouldn't have wanted to be with anyone who wasn't crying - and that would not have been mr bee!.
les miserables the current film is adapted from what is considered one of the half-dozen greatest novels of the past 150 years and one of the longest novels ever written.

My favorite version is the 10th Anniversary Dream Cast...I own the DVD and know it like an old friend... Can't watch any other version...
Until now! The movie was totally different (and the same?), but I LOVED IT. They brought my beloved musical to life.
Bravo!!
And I was so happy to see Colm Wilkinson as the Bishop.

Such a beautiful story...I always think of the elders and other Jehovah's Witnesses I know when I see Javert. Like Javert, they have no love.
Javert, the guy who never broke a law or rule through the whole story was actually a bad guy...with no love in him at all, though he was always trying to do the "right" thing...
...and Jean Valjean, the guy who broke many, many, laws, told some lies etc, was a saint.
Beautiful story that speaks the truth. To love another person is to see the face of God...

My mother passed away this morning...
by Tatiana infor any old-school ex-jws here that remember my many posts about my abusive jw mother and my sister committing suicide because of it...she passed away this morning because she began to bleed out and refused a transfusion.
she had been in the hospital for a month.
it appears she suffered a stroke and wasn't found by the brothers & sisters for three days (they missed her at the meetings).
