When parents disown their teenaged or young adult children, they miss out on seeing them mature.
by StinkyPantz2.0 ini daydream about the conversation i'd have with my jw mother now that i am in my mid-thirties.
id love for her to get to know me.
what would she think of her grown up daughter?:.

Thank you for your story and I can't wait to read your book!
In my family it is the child (my sister) who has disowned her mother. My mother never has never known her grandbabies, and they are almost grown now.

Shun Run 2013 - Final Booster & Details
by rawe inwelcome to the shun run 2013 show love, don't shun.
every year thousands of individuals leave the faith of jehovah's witnesses.
although we have asked the leadership to consider softening their stance on extreme shunning it seems they've chosen the opposite course.. in fact the watchtower study for march 10, 2013 was an article entitled: let nothing distance you from jehovah .. paragraph 17 acknowledged the pain shunning causes in a family, when it said:.

How do I as a future "Therapist" help ex-jws that won't move on from the WT?
by booker-t ini am halfway through my master's program in psychology/sociology and plan on being a therapist/sounselor.
i left jw's in 1988 and i have never looked back.
i enjoy my life so much after getting my aa degree, then my ba degree, and now i will soon get my ma degree.

I just don't know how I could help ex-jws that just won't move on.
I would imagine that if they were coming to see you they would be wanting to heal, so I don't think they would be resistant to your help. In other words, I don't think someone going to see a "Therapist" would refuse to "move on." By the way, "move on" sounds so dismissive. It sounds like you are saying their issues are not that big of a deal and that they would be fine if they wanted to.
How would a therapist help? first of all by not minimising the person's feelings and struggles.
Then, I would imagine you would help them the same way you would help anyone who was recovering from a years-long or life-long trauma.
Or the same way you would help someone who was recovering from years long or life long emotional and pychological abuse.
Or the same way you would help someone who was recovering from PTSD.
We are just people, like any others.

Thinking of having revenge on the jw girl
by spirituk inhello again, following my story with this girl , and after she blocked me on fb and not answering my phone calls since december , i am now thinking of taking revenge.my feelings of pain are starting to become hate ,and pain always is accompanied by the feeling of revenge to satisfy this bad feeling.i just cant simply forget what shes done to me.
the reasons of my revenge :.
1.she played with my feelings when she knew from the start that she would leave me one day.

I was provoked and hurt so much to reach at this point to think like that..
You are responsible for your actions. Hurting somone is wrong.
It doesn't matter if your were provoked or not.
YOU are in control of you and what you do. People that hurt you or do bad things to you don't force you to have to do bad things.
You must decide to do the right thing.
Your reasoning so far will only lead you to more pain and hurt for yourself and for the girl, and possibly criminal charges for you, too. so stop. Listen to what the people here are telling you. Listen and save yourself from more pain and darkness.

My first post...Facebook discussion
by mzmmom ini have been visiting this site for almost a year, and i have found it very useful.
there was a post on a facebook group last night about jw visits and to be nice when they call at your door.
so, after about 100 posts, i posted a link to this website.

...and they are all so certain that 2014 IS IT.
Interesting! I had not heard that from active JWs yet.

may be she was excited?

Are the Witnesses Really Losing Their Young People?
by What Now? inthat article about jehovah's witnesses having the lowest retention rate for born ins keeps popping up every now again ... i'm just curious if any of you have noticed that this is actually the case.
in the congregation that i grew up in, i'm going to say that 95% of the young people in their teens to mid twenties are either regular pioneering, regular auxiliary pioneering, serving in foreign language congregations or where the need is greater.
both of my younger sisters are regular pioneers - and the young people in their hall even organize 8 pm to midnight service on friday nights of their own accord.

I do not think the org interested in retaining all the kids. They could care less if 80% of the kids leave. They do NOTHING to try to retain young people.
They DO care that the remaining 20% never, ever question their authority. The kids cartoons are all about that idea and only that idea.
They want quality cult members, not quantity.
What now? if 95% of your born-ins are still IN at 30 I think you have a very unusual congregation. Can you think of born-ins who have left?

It gets better. Part II of "Apostates are blown out of the water"
by never a jw injust a recap.. i posted a thread yesterday about an exchange of e-mails with a well known and respected elder and c.o.
sibstitute in a spanish circuit somewhere in the u.s. the man is about 50, raised in the truth, belongs to a family where all men are at least elders.
he is proud to have forsaken his dream of becoming a doctor to serve jehovah.

He is proud to have forsaken his dream of becoming a doctor to serve Jehovah.
Makes me think of those bumper stickers, "My other car is a..."
"My other life is a doctor."
"Once we are thoroughly convinced we have arrived at the truth, further searching would not only be fruitless, but and we may even be led, due to the enthusiasm of discovery, to dislodging the truth we have correctly acquired."
^And there's the crazy talk. How can a person even type something that makes absolutely no sense at all and not notice they are typing nonsense?
Surely he must have had some small inner struggles/uncomfortable feelings or other symptoms of cognitive dissonance putting that sentence together.

Then what is 'new light(TM)'?
^^ exactly!!! This elder's crazy talk even violates the Borg's crazier talk!
