If the garden of Eden had a food chain, then what would have stopped the lions, tigers, bears etc. from having Adam for lunch?

Logically and scientifically speaking... that makes perfect sense, rvalich. But the JWs don't see it that way, the only answer you'll get is the old "Just because an animal has venom, doesn't mean they originally had a violent nature".
Another similar argument is the structure of the teeth of animals that are carnivores.
I mean look at this:
Can anybody really say that that animal was 'designed' to eat veggies?

Is Satan actually a liar?

I just realized something from connecting the points of these 2 posts:
Heaven: "In addition, Satan didn't know God would kick Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden. If they had remained, they would have become gods."
NikL: "The only reason they died was they were driven from the garden and weren't able to eat from the tree of life. Therefore it wasnt eating from the tree that killed them. It was God."
It is entirely possible that Satan had no idea Eve would die, meaning that he didn't lie. He would have been under the assumption that Eve could have all the benefits that came from eating the fruit, while still being able to eat from the tree later on. This would have meant that she would have actually been like God, knowing good and evil but still being able to keep her immortality.
Wow. It's interesting how differently you can start to view things once you start independent study. I guess this type of discussion is what the Society is scared of.

Good point, Tammy!
However... Eve at that point had committed sin, making her an imperfect being. Can we be sure that she genuinely felt deceived, and that she wasn't just covering for her mistake? (if of course, eating the apple was a mistake). This is just the impression that i get, and i really have no business guessing tone and intent in scripture, but Genesis 3:13 sounds very much like a scared child trying to deflect her fathers' anger onto another.
Putting that aside for a minute, who's to say that Eve's feelings of deception are an actual representation of Satan's intent? She may have felt like she was lied to because of misunderstanding what Satan said she'll gain and what she'll lose. I know that I've been in that situation before, when somebody has misunderstood my intentions and felt betrayed.
I'm just curious, what good would it have done if Satan had defended his actions? God wouldn't have listened to him, and Adam and Eve would have been against him (even if they felt he was innocent, due to their allegiance with their father). The only benefit of defending his actions would be the recording of it in the Bible, and would he even be aware of that at the time?

“YOU positively will not die. For God knows that in the very day of YOUR eating from it YOUR eyes are bound to be opened and YOU are bound to be like God, KNOWING good and bad."
Did Satan actually lie to Eve? I'm not so sure...
First of all, how do we know whether or not he meant she would die instantly or die of old age?
I see that statement as Satan telling Eve that eating the fruit would not result in her immediate death. If somebody told me that i wouldn't die from eating an apple, then i would assume they were telling me that the apple is safe and wouldn't kill me then and there... not that i'll never die. This isn't the best illustration, i know, since Eve was in a very different situation than us. But think about it, what would you say if Satan offered you fruit and then told you, “YOU positively will not die" from eating it?
Can we even begin to understand what he meant by saying “YOU positively will not die."?
Did Eve ever truly 'live' before her eyes were opened and she became like God? To me, it seems like she was just existing in blissful ignorance before Satan came along, that doesn't sound like living to me. In a way, i suppose, it could be said that Eve was never really 'born' until she exercised her right to free will.
This incident has really been the only time (that i could find) where Satan is said to have decieved, or lied to somebody. Most of the time, to me at least, he appears to present his argument and asks you to consider and conform to it.
Obviously, i can't fully understand this situation and my position on it will probably change when i know more. It's hard to study the Bible scriptures on my own when i've only ever used the (extremely biased) literature from the Society.
What do you think about it?

Project to produce blood for transfusion from stem cells
by Fe2O3Girl inhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-12752422.
four scottish universities are working on a "ground-breaking" project to manufacture blood for transfusions.. the universities are working with the scottish blood transfusion service to generate red blood cells on a large scale for scotland.. scientists have said that the industrial generation of blood from stem cells would end current supply problems.. it would also ensure compatibility between donor and recipient.. the university of glasgow, along with heriot-watt, edinburgh and dundee universities are working on the project, which has just been given 2.5m from the scottish funding council.. joanne mountford, of the scottish national blood transfusion service and the university of glasgow, said: "this is not artificial blood.
these are red blood cells - the same as those found in your body but made in a laboratory instead.. 'large scale' production.
-
Scooby-Doo
"It is real blood, but not donated....what sort of fraction will that be defined as?"
But, it is donated. The stem cells must come from somebody and as far as i know, scientists haven't been able to create synthetic stem cells.
Maybe i'm not understanding the method they're using of transforming the stem cells into differentiated red blood cells (probably), but from what i gather, they're replicating donated stem cells on a massive scale and then converting them. Sort of creating a RBC production line.
The society would probably regard that as exactly the same as normal red blood cell fractions.
However, red blood cells have no nucleus. So they would have no DNA, maybe the society would let that slide then? Since after all, no genetic information would be passed from donor to recipient.

Regretsy Shout Out for the JW's
by LisaRose ini must confess, regretsy is my "guilty pleasure".
it's a website that picks the most oddball items on etsy and makes fun of them.
for those not aquainted, etsy is a website for selling handmade items.

Woah, that last one is disturbing.
I want one... if only to freak out the neighbours.
That makes me wonder, what does a JW do when a person opens the door wearing something like that?
I wouldn't know since i never got to the point of preaching door-to-door.

Jehovah's Witnesses and their hypocritical entertainment choices.
by Scooby-Doo inthe couple that i studied with were major hypocrites when it came to their entertainment choices.
i remember the first time i was invited to their house for dinner, this was the first time that we just hung out socially, and they were playing music.
a song came on sung by a girl group that liked to pretend they were bisexuals (or lesbians, whatever) and i thought 'hey, maybe these witnesses are pretty relaxed and cool after all'.. boy was i wrong.

sd-7: "You must mean Battlestar Galactica."
You got it! I agree, great show.
Quality JW programming at it's best!
FrankWTower: "I wish I could say something out loud about it."
Me too, i wished i had called them out on all of their hypocritical BS.
The Finger: "I was counseled by an Elder about watching "Dallas" and the sexual attitudes portrayed in the Series. When I spoke with his son in law, I was told he was actually taping the James Bond movie whilst he was counselling me at the hall."
That is hilarious! Sometimes i can't even believe the lengths that they will go to, to make sure they're in complete control. I have noticed that they seem to focus mostly on entertainment that has sexual or supernatural themes. Just like the 'James Bond' elder, they seem to let violence slide.
miseryloveselders: "At the District Convention a few years back, they had two kids dressed up like Israelites, and they were playing in the dirt/sand. The one kid was like, "here comes Pharoah and his army." The other kid was like, "here comes the walls crashing down and drowning them all!" They made it seem like it was an action movie and actors and actresses. Effed up religion."
Good God, that HAS got to have some sort of negative impact on a child's mental state. I don't know if that would be considered child abuse (probably not) but it reminds me a lot of some of the things Fred Phelps and his inbred posse have their children do. Scary.
OUTLAW: Those covers are so damn creepy. What's even more disturbing is that the average JW wouldn't even think twice about the 'positive message' they tell.
WTWizard: "In both cases, the witlesses will claim you are inviting demons in because, whether it is a psychic baby-sitter or someone with a gift with animals, they disregard that it could be intuition and claim it is pure spiritism."
Exactly! They are so desperate to find demons in every little corner of the world.
It's sad, really.

"If you woke up this morning and found that somehow overnight the whole population of the planet had become Muslim, including you, well, that would only mean that one half of the population (the females) would still be second class citizens."
You're assuming that every Muslim shares the same belief system. There can be many 'types' of Muslims, just like there are many versions of the Christian faith. I know a lovely Muslim lady who is very much into female empowerment.
