Do your elders care at all?

i currently have an elder body who, for the most part, seems utterly complacent and disinterested in actually "shepherding" anything.

i can't tell if they are lazy or just oblivious to their responsiblities of being "teachers".

it seems like they are the last to know anything and always procrastinate on everything.

I know one elder from my (former) congregation that cares.

He really thinks that he's making a difference, he's really good at it too.

Kinda pervy, but a real good guy.

The others... not so much.

Good for her!

If the hat wasn't written into her contract as part of the work uniform, then she shouldn't have to wear it.

That is a crazy amount of money. But seriously, they got what was coming to them. You don't fire somebody because they refuse to wear a goofy hat, especially when the religion card gets played.

i think the blood issue is an incredible looking glass into what is wrong with the legelize style of relgion.. unfortunately my ex is a "very good" jdub and still have to deal with it because of my two children.

i think i understand that fractions of components are not considered blood but i think that realization brings this next question.. does it simply just not matter that the fractions of components came from blood?.

I haven't had the nod yet. But there was an experience i had recently that is very similar. I was shopping with my mother when we spotted the JW that i had studied with for 5-ish years. He spoke with my mother but ignored me. He did that staring-at-you-but-trying-to-not-be-obvious thing.

Not a single JW has spoken to me since i stopped studying, it's curious.

This is from a Circuit Overseer: When talking with someone who believes in the Trinity, they seem to focus on John 1:1 for some reason. This Circuit Overseer says to them, "I'll tell you what, You take your best Scripture for the Trinity and throw it out and I'll take my best Scripture against it and throw it out, and then let's talk about the Trinity from the Scriptures." Great idea!

Or you could stop attacking the stranger's beliefs and get off of their property, before you get punched in the face for being a jerk. Just an idea?

is there a jw opinion on birthday parties for animals?

i've never read anything about that.

hey, the bible never lists any birthday parties for famous bible animals that involved decapitations!.

I was always told that birthday celebrations are a personal choice for true christians, however we must think of what Jehovah's thoughts would be about that type of celebration. To me, that basically meant that they have no scriptural basis to condemn birthday parties... but the were going to anyway.

Im sure they'd feel the same about pet birthdays. Perhaps they would feel stronger about it, since you're 'giving glory to an animal'. Kinda like the idolatory of the cow.

But God, Satan and Eve never wrote that line about him being crafty.

So the author (who wrote Genesis again? Moses?) has no right to imply that he is skilled in the art of deception. From what i understand he led an uprising against God. He didn't lie to the angels that joined his cause, they agreed with what he stood for.

Where is the evidence that Satan lied before the temptation of Eve? Because without that, the line about him being crafty cannot be valid.

EDIT: I'm passed by posting limit for today, but you're 100% right about how Eve resisting the temptation would also mean that she'd be exercising her free will.

I love that idea. I remember saying the exact same thing in study and being shot down straight away.

But was it his fault? He only informed Eve of what she had to gain from eating the fruit. She made her own decision, as did Adam.

Eve only said to Satan that if she were to eat or touch it, then she would die. Since Satan was unaware that she would be driven out from the garden of Eden, doesn't that mean that (at that point in time) he was speaking the truth as he knew it?
