Calling the lady's art rubbish is not very nice, Ashikae.
If you don't like her work then say so, but be polite about it.

i just finished the greatest show on earth by richard dawkins, and am almost finished crisis of conscience by...some guy.. currently in hand, i have:.
the power of myth, joseph campbell and bill moyers.
I am reading The Fallen 2: Aerie & Reckoning
It is about Aaron, a teen who discovers that he is a nephilim (a result of human-angel reproduction). He discovers that his destiny is to redeem the fallen angels who rebelled against God in the great war of heaven. To fulfill his destiny he must avoid The Powers, a group of seemingly faithful angels that are led by a power-hungry angel named Verchiel.
It's the second and final omnibus in the series, each volume containing two novels.
It's a very interesting story and great for older teens, especially boys (even if the cover suggests otherwise).
so tell me - what are your favorites?
i'm obsessed with sky view...it's powerful awesome.
i also like the whitenoise app - i fell asleep to the sound of a thunderstorm last night.
I'm gonna go kiss my phone now....
I think i have the app for you... ;)
i have issues with my self-esteem and i recently found a video that kind of spoke to me.
my issues aren't necessarily a result from my time with the witnesses, but i do know that perhaps many of you feel down about yourselves sometimes due to the things you have heard from the watchtower society and some jehovah's witnesses.. you get told that you aren't welcome with you're friends and families because of what you believe in and the morals that you stand for.
the shunning practices, in my opinion, are intended to make a person believe that they are worth nothing without the love and support of the congregation.
Scooby-doo,,thank you,,maybe the look of this individual was strange,,but listening to the kind words of wisdom, the individual didn't look so strange anymore, but looked "kindly."
Beautifully said, Gayle. I agree. =)
Some people hold themselves in high esteem while others in low esteem; either position can be an "issue".
This is very true, Sab. Perhaps the title of this thread should have been 'Do you have low self-esteem issues?' =)
I find in most cases, that a person who holds herself in high esteem wouldn't view herself as having an issue.

Hello there! =)
I have issues with my self-esteem and i recently found a video that kind of spoke to me. My issues aren't necessarily a result from my time with the Witnesses, but i do know that perhaps many of you feel down about yourselves sometimes due to the things you have heard from the Watchtower Society and some Jehovah's Witnesses.
You get told that you aren't welcome with you're friends and families because of what you believe in and the morals that you stand for. The shunning practices, in my opinion, are intended to make a person believe that they are worth NOTHING without the love and support of the congregation. This makes me sad. You might start believing these things, as you probably hear them a lot in everyday life.
I believe that EVERYBODY in this world has worth and deserves to feel love. These shunning practices are wrong and there is no doubt in my mind that many people who are shunned develop self-esteem issues. Perhaps in some cases these self-esteem issues may even lead to suicidal thoughts.
The video that i was talking about is on YouTube. It is by a lady called Sister Unity, she is an orange Hindu drag nun. She looks VERY funny and that can be quite distracting, but i really connected with the message that she was trying to put across. Her target audience is obviously people within the LGBT community, but i thought that i would share the video so that the people here with self-esteem issues could hopefully gain something from it.
I really like the technique that she used to overcome her self-image problems and i think that it could be applied to a variety of self-esteem issues. The technique appears, to me at least, to help the individual self-deprogram from the way of thinking that was forced upon them.
If you have any tips and techniques that have helped you to improve your self-esteem, I'd love to hear them. =)
That's awesome!
at one point in my life i chose to stop listening to my religion's advice to not research outside of their framework.
about the time i made that decision was when the gay marriage debate was going very strong; and still is to this day.
back then i felt like my state of california was leading the front on it to stop the bigotry and oppression once and for all.. it was a hot topic for me because i was questioning the bible and my faith so i started researching the science of homosexulality.
Homosexuality occurs in nature, is considered 'of nature' and is therefore natural. I hate when homophobes use that term, unnatural. Call them abnormal if you want because they are certainly not 'of the norm' but don't call them unnatural, because that is wrong.
Homosexuality is not a mental disorder because it in no way prevents the person from functioning in a healthy manner. Gay people still are able, and frequently do breed... both naturally and artificially. Mental disorder classification doesn't take 'sin' into account, that is why homosexuality is not a mental disorder.
I don't know if homosexuality is a result of genetics, stabile behaviour occuring in 10% of the species or a labile behaviour influenced by a number of contributing factors. Personally, i take the stance of the many animal behaviour specialists out there and agree with the notion that it doesn't matter. These people function healthily and should be allowed to do so, in peace.
I'm not sure how anyone could encourage the need for science to disprove the Bible, i'm sure that most people in the biological and psychological fields of science and medicine would rather invest their time on something of more importance.
i for my part do not believe there is a satan the devil.
he does not exist.
there is a creator, but no oposite number, no satan.
I'm not sure if he exists or not.
I find him interesting, but that's no surprise as i've always been interested in angels and demons.
I don't view him as most people do. To me, he doesn't represent pure evil. He had alternative views and exercised his right to voice them. I have yet to come across a scripture that provides me with the sufficient 'evidence' of his apparent evil nature.
Of course there is the whole Job thing. But Satan's actions were permitted by God. So i personally view God and Satan as equally good or bad in that situation.
.
^ i know many women who are all over that.. -sab.
Erm... no.
i'm watching the 2nd louis theroux visit to the phelps.
i don't feel so well..
I saw the special he did on them about a year ago (not sure if it's the same one).
They are truly horrible people. It saddens me that children are being raised in that environment.
