Yeh what is this guy always on about anyway? I always read his posts and i think something major has just happened, and it turns out to be a steaming pile of sensationalised horse shi*e!

rick: it's just a question... (if it's been asked before and you've already answered it, please disregard this post).
the reason i ask this question is the following... if i were a member of the gb and i wanted to discredit the "apostate" community or make them appear to be "mentally deseased", i would start by approaching a well-known "apostate" like yourself and offer him significant compensation in exchange for his/her role in making unsubstantiated claims against the wt, posting pictures of 3-person demonstrations (calling them successful) and making up colorful characters like johnny the bethelite.
i would also have him throw in the occasional false claim so that jws can easily say: "you see?

i have been noticing we ex-jw's are very different in our choices of beliefs once we leave the wts.
some choose christianity, others flee christianity.
some find they can't beieve in anything any more.
I believe in Jesus. My journey with the JWs has shown me how valuable the bible is in ones life and how following Jesus is so important in life (although I didnt learn it from them - All they were going on about what faith in some dumb man-made organisation) When i was disfellowshipped and was free of their mind numbing nonsense, it was time to start studying the life of Jesus and seeing how following him could help me in my life. Im rather enjoying it too. :)

just read through the 2011 letters to usa boe and the 8 february one on disposing of old wt books/magazine struck me as apparently the co needs to authorise their disposal.
what really intrigued me was that the om book was required to have it's cover removed and the pages "shredded".. was everyone in the congegation asked to shred their personal copies too?.
Ahhhh sorry... i got confused. I was baptised in 2007 so i had no idea there were two books. Lol.
You arent missing much. I looked at it when i went through my questions and after that, i picked it up whenever i wanted to see how dumb the organisation had become.
Like i said, i shredded my 2005 version anyway, and am now disfellowshipped. Yipeee!!!

Yes.. i want them too. This is fun. Lol.
Also can someone tell me why have the org told the elders that they can discard the Organized book? It took them long enough.

I shredded mine ages ago anyway, before i was even disfellowshipped. What a waste of time it was. Out of interest, which parts of the book did they want to remove?

i liked the greatest man book.
i thought it was very informative and unbiased.
a good summary of the gospels.. .
Who liked this book?
I never read this book purely because i could not be arsed. When encouraged to read it by a brother or sister, i always responded with, why not read the bible instead?
i was reading john's second letter before in my nlt bible and i came accross the scriptures used to back up the act of shunning former jw's.
in my bible it reads totaly contrary to the way the jw's say, so i decided to get out the old nwt bible which gives exactly the same ideas.
here are some of my thoughts:.
Well said Mad Sweeney... I have noticed that myself. Surely the teachings of Jesus take precedence over Paul and all others.
I find it crazy how little Jehovahs Witnesses know about Jesus. Its shocking.

Thanks Vanderhoven. I thank you for this. You helped me to answer some important scriptural questions not so long ago, and i valued your help then as much as i do now. Please keep in touch. :D

Crooklyn... HAHAHAHA!!! Great points everybody. Gives me a lot to think about in considering how absurd these people are.
Ok... lets be honest then... the scripture is right, the governing body are wrong, and their only real interest is power. I think that about sums it up doesnt it. Anyone who was interested in real TRUTH, would look at the context of these scriptures and work out what John is realy saying.
As Billy the ex Bethelite would put it, its the Governing Bodys clear, deliberate and unloving missaplication of scripture that would lead to HIM, disfellowshipping THEM. Good riddance!!! Lets just hope that there are natural loving JWs still in the org who actualy TRY to understand such scriptures and principles. I know several who shun me now, and i pity them for being as misguided sheep.

Punk... you are right. I remember a sister encouraged me a while back to read as many of the dublications (nice word) as i could. I always figured... why cant i just read the bible. Of course they would all say, yeh but you need to know what the bible means. Only the org can tell you that. Errr yeh ok.
Nontheless i do liking reading books about the bible, to get someone elses views on it. I suppose its why i like this forum too, that and many here have helped me a lot.
