i have just published a post on jwstruggle.com where i explore the disturbing parallels between the methods and attitudes of the westboro baptist church and jehovah's witnesses.. you may be aware of two recent bbc documentaries by louis theroux, one of which was called "the most hated family in america", the other "america's most hated family in crisis".
i feel that both are excellent viewing for those of us with wives or loved ones who are trapped in the "borg" and wish to draw attention to the similarities between the society and other more obvious cults.. if you would like to read my post, it is on this link: http://www.jwstruggle.com/2011/10/a-troubling-comparison-part-1/.
i hope i haven't offended anyone by posting the link.

his reaction wasnt as liberal as i hoped it would be.
he said that we needed to discuss it.
however, gone are the days where im putting myself in the firing line and not sticking up for myself.
Quendi... I LOVE YOU!!! :)
HAHAHA... THAT VIDEO!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I love John Cleese! :)
the recent & surprising developments in the uk and australia got me thinking..... the governing body of jehovah's witnesses is nothing if not arrogant.
they consider themselves "god's channel of communication", stopping just short of claiming divine inspiration.
they believe that they and they alone are the masters of "christ's belongings" and are answerable only to him.. the watchtower society's legal department carefully crafts gb decisions so as not to put the watchtower society's assets or prestige as risk.
Wednesday evening here in the UK. But just think, in the time it has taken me to write this post, one JW in this world may finaly realised what the WT is up to and has woken up. :)
you would think being disfellowshipped is like being fired from a job and being dissassociated is like quitting a job...is this the correct understanding?.
as much as i have been searching for the answer to this question in the later articles, i can't really find a concrete answer.
but being an ms and raised in "the truth", i was always brought up to feel like if someone disassociates themself, they are automatically labeled an apostate.
This was brought up in Crisis of Conscience. Very interesting point when Franz had his JC meeting. They told him that it was wrong of him to be in contact with a dissassociated person. Franz being the mastermind he was, asked them to show it from the bible. They shown the usual scriptures about not eating with fornicators and adultorers, etc. Franz then said, well since so and so isnt any of the above, merely choosing no longer to be a part of this organisation anymore, scripturaly there is nothing wrong with what im doing.
Interesting point isnt it? I suppose there are scriptures which vaguely speak about those who no longer want anything to do with Jesus, etc, but the JW slant on it is a little OTT if you ask me. I therefore think that the difference in the two is huge. But to the JWs there isnt a difference... the idea is to simply get all those who are going to be a negative (although id rather say positive) influence, whether physicaly, mentaly, emotionaly or spiritualy and get rid of them as soon as possible! Sick!

and i dont want to see the dictionary definition of the word, as the word is merely a label, and the definition is merely a description of the word.. .
i want to discuss the concept of truth, as there is alot hiding behind the mere label.. .
to start off with, is truth merely when we come to agreement, and stop questioning?
Thanks SA! Yes i love those scrips you quoted too! They are among my faves from the entire bible.
About the subject... I think truth is a very interesting concept. Im certain that EVERYONE would desire to know the truth about any subject. However i know that it depends on whether or not you are interested. Also, i can imagine some die hards who wont believe the truth even if you flashed it infront of them because their version of truth is so much more true to them. This is a crazy idea though because the truth is true and is always the same, but people can believe something is the truth all their lives because that is what they have been taught and is ingrained into them.
What a CRAZY subject. I look forward to coming back to this thread in a few days and seeing what everyone has written.

What a good thread. :)
I reckon they have already made some GRAVE careless mistakes and i bet they are now suffering because of them. Lets hope that it spirals out of control soon so we can see the mental liberation of our friends and family! :)

i have just started my new course to be a qualified counsellor.
naturaly i am studying this because of my own background and now i want to help others who have had similar strains on their lives.. i know the pressure that the jw organisation puts on its members, so i was wondering, if you dont mind saying so of course, did any of you attend counselling sessions due to the pressures and problems that the jw life brought along?.
i can imagine that the majority of my old congregation (myself, my dad and my brother included) would need some form of counselling or medication in order to remain sane.

Gods word is truth! John 17:17
in reply to questions raised in the thread i started on 10/3/11, victoria, australia: wtbts and gb of jws have shown themselves to be "guilty" respecting previous noncompliance with working with children laws,i said i would talk to contacts in australia and get some answers.
here is the link to the 10/3/11 thread:.

Interesting stuff Barbara! Thanks for posting!
Its mad isnt it how many fronts and sub organisations there are within the JWs all there just to escape liability when they breach human rights etc. And when you are in the JWs, you are told that its succesfull because Jehovah is blessing it. HAHA! NO! It works because the people in charge are cunning and resourceful!
Maybe sometime soon it will all break apart from the inside, the organisation can continue its business through printing contracts, and the lives of 7 million people will be freed!
Please keep us updated Barbara!
