by bnybyt inthe wt study edition is getting a facelift for the new year.. the january issue had been posted on jw.org but.... the boes hadn't received notice by letter of such a change.. the wts likes to play up every opportunity to have a new release.. this time the jw.org techies jumped the gun and went on to post.
the issues for download according to their established schedule.. unfortunately, they went ahead of the fds/gb who too late .
realized the cat was out of the bag, sort of saying.. well, it got pulled off the website, for now at least.. what's so secretive about it?.

Hello Brother Quendi. :)
I see what you are saying. I most certainly agree that if you want to understand the bible and its message then deep bible study is required. I would reason that Jesus used very clever forms of teaching that encouraged his listeners to ask questions and want to know more, however, i believe he did this in very simplistic ways. He used common day illustrations for example to appeal to the local people.
I have to say, when I was 12, i found Watchtower studies which used big words and long academicaly written phrases to be quite pompous and exasperating. I felt that the bible wasnt for commoners like me to understand. Im not saying that the message should be dumbed down, but I feel if you are going to teach people about the bible then it needs to be done on their level, just like Jesus did. The magazines should be written in a way which explains the basics of truth clearly and effectivly, but encourages the reader to go and do his own research on the deeper matters.
Here are some choice scriptures from 1 Corinthians 2:
1 And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.
3 I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling,
4 and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
5 so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.
6 Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away;
7 but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory;
8 the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;
10 For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.

Serving Jehovah - by Law or by Love?
by TimothyT ini have started reading in search of christian freedom by franz.
the idea of searching for christian freedom is very important to me, and i already know that this book is going to be very helpful in this regard.
on pages 12 and 13, i read something which has been on my mind recently regarding the removal of the mosaic law and its replacement with love through jesus christ.

I hear you Randy! :)
Its a good point that one should not forget that although reading about how to live is good, we should never forget TO live! However, i do believe that this kind of study and the research I am currently doing in solidifying my belief in Jesus and what he has done for humankind etc, is realy enriching my life. :)
Thanks for everything you have done for me Randy. You are #1 here!

The origins of this forum?
by TimothyT ini have just read the first ever post here made by simon in march 2000.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/46/1/welcome.
i wanted to ask, was this forum originaly created for active jw's to discuss study ideas and encouraging points from the watchtower, etc?.
if so, when did it start accepting non jw's and exjw's?.

I remember when i joined this forum in February there were one or two active JW's here, and i recall they wernt liked much. It seems odd then how the forum has evolved over time.
If the original idea was to provide support and encouragement to Jehovahs Witness, the new idea is to provide support and encouragement for those who are no longer JW's - A total shift.
Is Simon still a JW?

Hmmmm... I have to say, when i lived in South Spain, i thought they took 'the truth' FAR TOO SERIOUSLY! In my cong we have some strict brothers who focused on small issues, but in Spain the congregations i associated with were flippin mad. They never smiled and were keen to enforce EVERY SINGLE LITTLE LAW! I find the JWs in the UK to be more liberal (which i know they are not)!

A truly creepy 2007 public talk by Ciro Aulicino - You Will Be With Me in Paradise
by Tatiana ini searched for this here and didn't find any posts about it.
i just found this while searching for info as i was debating a jw on another site.
this is the most mind-blowing, spaced-out, insane bunch of mess i've ever heard.

I find it quite sick that anyone professing to love Jehovah and Jesus could seem to chuckle at the deaths of homosexuals and others.
He says we should feel an inner satisfaction over such things. The bible says that Jehovah delights in the deaths of no one... ( Ezekiel 18:23, 32) so why does this JW seem to think its comical?
Quite sickening!

Welcome to the forum! :) Im sure you will get lots of help here to understand what is REALLY going on! I have posted loads of stuff about questions and worries i had and i received some great responses. Now everything is in perspective. :)
I FULLY agree with Gayle... read Crisis of Conscience if you havnt already. Franz explains everything so logicaly and addresses almost all the major doctrines of the WT organisation. When i finished reading it, i realised that i could still serve God and Jesus without the organisation.
Anyway... enjoy your stay here and ask as many questions as you want! :)

Seeking Reinstatement
by Quendi inno, i'm not seeking to be reinstated so don't worry.
but i did want to raise a point in relation to this.
i know this was true in my case and i've seen it in others i have talked to about this.

Totaly agree Quendi! I was discussing this with my papa not so long ago. From my own point of view, almost everyone i know who has wanted reinstatement want it because they miss their families and friends. If this is the case, then it seems to me that their reasons for returning have little or nothing to do with their believing in the organisation, or maybe even Jehovah for that matter. In fact, i bet the majority couldnt care less about the organisation . They are just sick of being blackmailed that they would rather conform just to see the ones they love again. I dont nescesarily think that is a bad thing either.
Would Jehovah want people to worship him through blackmail and coercion? (2 Corinthians 9:7) I think not! That is why i will never return, because i refuse to give into their attempts at blackmail.
