Throwing out literature left in public places
by rebel8 ini have done it for years for wts literature.
i am not talking about something that's someone's property, like a library book, just literature left on benches and such.. today i saw a tract saying, "why am i here?
" i snagged it and took a look.

@LeavingWT: I second the idea about the greatest hits. Bet the public will get a kick out of that.
By the way, now that I think of it, I think I'm going to seek and destroy the stuff whenever I can.

The Christian Onslaught
by satinka in*sigh* i have been noticing lately there are a number of groups of "christians" signing up as members of this forum, with the obvious agenda of gaining converts for their own cult-like religions.
i have been wondering things like:.
hmmm...maybe i'll try ignoring them.. thank you simon for the space to vent.. satinka.

Pika, your issue is with the message more than the messenger. The question is how I can be more effective sharing the message without creating unnecessary barriers.
You can be more effective if you understand and know how to handle your competition, thus making your message more convincing. A good discussion anticipates possible refutations. It doesn't appear that you do that much. If you can't prove your points of discussion, you will get no where with people who need that proof. If you are so convinced that you are right, then are you ready to debate non-believers? Can you prove anything to us?

FAITH, the biggest excuse for IGNORANCE.
by nicolaou inwhen you claim that some impossible account from the bible is true are you doing so because of evidence and honest reasons or simply because you want it to be true?
if the evidence your claim is based upon ends up being proven false would you stop making the claim?.
if your claim is based only on wishful thinking then you are being dishonest with yourself.

The idea that miracles and alternative interpretations refute criticism is just not valid. When faced with the possibility that either a biblical passage is scientifically incorrect or it is explainable by the supernatural, the faithful will pick the latter, under the presupposition that the Bible is ALREADY accurate and inspired. The conclusion that the Bible is still accurate depends on the already-made conclusion/premise that the correct option must already be the one relayed in the text. It's shoe-horning the evidence to fit an assumption.
Perfect example: did Issaiah say the Earth was a flat circle or a sphere? If you said "sphere," congratulations! It's only true because you want it to be. At the very most, all you are saying is that it is possibly accurate. It COULD be a sphere. But it could also be a flat circle. The only thing leading you to the former conclusion is your already established idea that the Bible is correct. Which is identical to the very notion you are trying to prove. It's circular and based on assumptions.

Evolution Produced GOD?
by foolsparadise inif you believe in a god who made everything then that has to mean that you believe in evolution.....because god evolved from nothing.
prehaps evolution is the real creator...

If we are talking about an "always been here" god, than no. Other gods may have evolved in a sense, though. And the God CONCEPT certainly has evolved with time. Then again, if we can imagine that not everything must have a creator, than we don't need to look to god as the creator "of all things." Himself, the exception to the rule.

Pika: Show me a better way to say that the Bible teaches that Jesus is Lord God and that it matters whether we follow Him or a fake?
Sure. Let us first see if you can establish the notion that everything the Bible says is true and that the God it describes is real. That would be a nice start.

How many gods are there?
by jgnat inchristianity was birthed in a polytheistic world, inheriting from jewish roots the concept of one g-d. now, instead of one god for israel, we are offered one god for the whole world.
caesar (mortal men) was declared a god.
gods had powers beyond ordinary men, could grant requests, and demanded sacrifice and worship.

I think there are, like 2,000+ active ones. And some dead ones. Many are worshipped, others are obsolete. Some are yet to be invented by nutjobs.

@godrulz: That wasn't an "ad hominem" attack. I didn't say your claims are wrong because you're an idiot or something (Page 5). I'm saying your way of spreading your message is ineffective. When you preach to people, no one wants to listen to what you have to say because of the way you say it. You are, therefore, not helping anyone get "right with Jesus," as it were. All you are doing is making his born-again true followers look like jerks. How does that help your or his case?

Atheist believe in aliens but not God?
by StopTheTears inif you are a professed atheist, i ask you the question: do you believe in aliens?
could not god be an alien?
how do you know that there is no alien life?
-
Pika_Chu
Yes, that's right. Aliens are more probable than God. Your fundamental error here, is you assume all aliens are Gods. Maybe your God is an alien. Maybe all Gods are aliens, hell, I'll pretend that one's true. But not all aliens are God. Plus, they live in our universe and are contingent beings, so yeah.
