i just read that the name, 'jehovah' was created 700 years ago by a catholic monk who took the vowels from the word, 'lord' and combined them with the letters yhwh (the unpronounceable, biblical term for god).. anyone ever heard this or know a credible source for this info?.

...the meaning of Jehovah would be "he who will be, is, and has been". But such a word-formation has no analogy in the Hebrew language.
Anybody know what the meaning of Yahweh would be?
Also, does such a word formation have an analogy in the Hebrew language?
I just want to speculate (based on the above document) that should the name actually mean "coming one", does it then directly refer to Jesus?

i think most of us at some time have had the experience of overhearing a conversation while travelling, or in a coffee shop, and realizing that we are listening to a crafty jw in the middle of preaching.
you know the type of thing, "wont it be nice when god steps in and clears up all these problems", problems incidentally that they have just spent the past thirty minutes listing to their hapless listeners in morbid detail.
no-one cherishes their collection of grim news quite like a jw.

this old chap is quite sweet really, and i wasn't going to say anything much.i studied with him and his daughter and they are neighbours, but there was just us two in my house (!
) and it all came pouring out.i get sick of the 'when are you coming back'...'what else is there'... where else would you go' questions, and i don't even know what started it, it was a bit of a blur, i went on for at least an hour and 'brought out the following points'.

Night dives are definitely the best - my favourite.
I usually dive with a membrane drysuit and 12lbs of lead.
I live near the Atlantic ocean, so losters and scallops are aplenty, straight off the sea bed.
Gotta follow what LB said, for anyone. Take a basic diving course - you'll never regret it.

I started diving (Scuba!!!) in 1990, progressing to Advanced Instructor with the British Sub Aqua Club (Equiv. 3 Star Instructor CMAS). I also started a Branch for Snorkelling instruction, in 1994.
I'm trying to arrange some time to get to Florida, next year, with the intention of a mixed Apostofest, Diving vacation.

h20 was a smashing success for a long time, even with many moderators.
the board rules were basically good common sense, and expressed some issues as to matters of law, such as not violating copyright, etc.
i don't understand why h20 went down the tank.
I have to confess, I didn't like the change to the posting engine (especially since it can be so slow), but things were so active here, I didn't think too much about moving on.
You get flame, bad language, and bad conduct on any board and in real life, so that has never bothered me. You just learn to filter it out. Although, when I first got on the Net, in '94/95 I did stumble across an "Apostate" site, and was so turned off by the anger and foulness of it, that I vowed never to do it again. And so I didn't, until after I had decided to leave the JW's, last year.
Chat is still a little bit wobbly, expecially when you get over a dozen in there. I think it was Logical's semi-departure that made that a little quieter. At least while he was around you were guaranteed a once in a while. When you see it empty, it can make you think twice about stepping in.
This board has become a home from homoe to so many. I hope it continues for a loooong time, becasue it has a great "feel" about it, even though it continues to evolve with the various characters here.
There are some lessons about change, here, though. Threads like this do good, in reminding the Sysop just what keeps a board alive, and lets be honest, the Sysop doesn't want his baby to die any more than those who love it.
