What's the difference between a Christian and a JW?

christians look to jesus as the redeeemer of mankind.. jw's look to jesus as the executioner of mankind!.

John 3:16 relates a general concept, an abstraction as does 1 John 2:2.

John 3:16 must become Galatians 2:20 to become a Christian.

I am impaled along with Christ. It is no longer I that live, but it is Christ that is living in union with me. Indeed, the life that I now live in flesh I live by the faith that is toward the Son of God, who loved me and handed himself over for me.

As much as I dislike the WBTS I have to admit the "anointed" fit the concept but there is no such thing

as an un-anointed Christian. There are no un-forgiven Christians or un-justified, un-regenerated, un-sealed

un-washed etc. Paul's advise to the Romans was "let each [man] be fully convinced in his own mind"

The Imago Dei defies definition but surely contains the ability to choose.

He also advised the Corinthians to "keep testing whether you are in the faith, keep proving what you yourselves are. Or do you not recognize that Jesus Christ is in union with you? Unless you are disapproved.

You can definitely say it is a pre req.

Back to the topic - The difference between xtians and JWs is soteriology. JWs believe Jesus died for the sins of Adam; xtians believe Jesus died for their own personal sins. The difference is massive.

i'm writing for some advice from former jws.

my family is christian, and my 15yo daughter is "dating" a jw boy.

(the quotes are because they aren't old enough to actually go out on dates... they consider themselves bf/gf and have hung out and gone places with each other, but always with parents, family, etc.

CP's goal is to keep her daughter safe and to prevent her from joining a cult. It is not to attempt to "rescue" her daughter's boyfriend and/or get him to wake-up and leave the cult. If that happens, great.

Dear concerned parent, you are have come to a forum populated by ex-witnesses and forum posts by

the nature of the case are short. There are no JWs in my family other then my daughter, now her

young family. Your story is identical to mine of twenty years ago so listen to the warnings you have

received. My JW son-in- law is a wonderful young man and excellent husband and father. I say this

because there are about 8 million JWs and they are just people with the full gamut of personalities and

virtues and lack thereof. The "Governing Body' (yes capital letters) is the issue and they are antichrist

not that boy who is a guest in your house. You are a Christian and so am I (not much of one but that

another story) and I wish I had known then what I know now. Here is why the GB is antichrist in Greek

and English. Anti in English means opposed or against but here is ἀντὶ in the New Testament.

ὀφθαλμὸν ἀντὶ ὀφθαλμοῦ καὶ ὀδόντα ἀντὶ ὀδόντος. (Mat 5:38)

eye for eye and tooth for tooth

ἀντὶ τοῦ λέγειν ὑμᾶς (Jam 4:15)

Instead you ought to say

ἀντὶ in the NT often means substitute and that is what the GB claims for themselves, alternative

mediators between God and humanity. Jesus is their mediator and they are the mediator for the rest

of us. Here are some references from their publications.

So at this point concerned parent you probably know more about JW doctrine than the boy friend and I am

absolutely serious. He may object and say "I believe in Jesus too" and be sincere.

Here is how JWs get Jesus whether they know it or not.

Helping my husband wake up, need advice.

my husband is dfed but he is a prime example of someone who was a puppet for the watchtower.

i was able to wake him a little with the sex abuse scandal.

he was an elder and is very familiar with those rules.

Dear Whynot, I have not been a JW but have people I love in the Org. so I visit this forum

some. Your husband and I have a couple of things in common. Guilt and wanting to believe

there is a remedy for guilt.

Now, my husband still believes the Bible is infallible. Me too.

In 1 John it says this

In Watchtower world complete forgiveness is what Jesus and his apostles used to preach.

Thanks for looking at this, it was a good idea. But

You have any control of the path, you just "add" a bookmark then technology take over.

I wish it would work though as showing them things in context is pretty effective
