Asking For More Money Again
by rosesinbloom inwe had another letter read this week from the 'slave' that asked for more money again.. it asked for a resolution to be passed by all congregations in support of the circuit overseer to pay their expenses and medical expense was included in there.. a resolution was put on the floor and voted upon and agreed by show of hands that our congregation would send over $2,000 for the year 2016.. the society broke it down to how much it would be per year for each publisher but i do not remember what they suggested.. i was glad i was listening in and not present this week because it would have been obvious i did not support the resolution because my hand would not have been up when the attendance took a count.. has anyone here also had the letter read at their service meeting this week?.

My mother said it was read at their KH this past week. She doesn't attend but listens on a speaker phone at home. She said they mentioned many needs but her main memory was something to do with liability, insurance, or something along that line. She's thinking they mentioned 15.00 per...person? publisher? I think she was more concerned with them asking once again for money, than in getting the details. -

Maybe the authors name isn't allowed here? The last part was cut off. Shortened, the author of the book was like the little boy in the story who pointed out the obvious. Many similarities the the WTS and the Emperor. -

It's as relevant as truth. Maybe a very short children's story will help you decide. It's a classic and you may have already read it. If not, it's very short and can be found here. http://deoxy.org/emperors.htm

OF DOGS AND BITES AND BIKES AND THINGS
by Terry inthe thought suddenly struck me plain and obvious: "these dogs won't stop until i'm good and bloody.".
there were two of them; a mixed breed of boxer and pit bull; clean, white--collared, tagged and--for some inexplicable reason, ferociously intent on tearing me to shreds!.
ah, but i'm getting ahead of myself.

Sail Away, don't know how I managed to overlook your post where you mentioned air horns. Wouldn't have posted my link if better attention had been paid. Sorry.

In reading, as the story went on, it became my hope that it was truly a story. Sorry it wasn't. As a proud dog owner, it would be my worst nightmare to have something like that happen to anyone. It would be upsetting to happen even if a person were on private property or up to no good. To have it happen on a street, sidewalk or any public area is beyond horrific. I'd have been there eating humble pie with sincere apologies and a phone number to my insurance company. Just horrible.
It's probably not a great time for suggestions, especially one that shows kindness to the animal right now, but sometimes a dog can be sidetracked with dog biscuits or a piece of dog jerky and a kind word. In your case, it doesn't seem like that would have helped and unless you're there, it's hard to know whether it's best to yell a commanding, "NO, go home!" or say, "hi guy, you're a sweetie, want a treat?" LOL.
It would be real hard to get back on and ride now. The fear and pain must be awful. My heart goes out to you. If there's a place on your bike, or even if there isn't, you might be able to rig up a device to fit this clever little gizmo in a water belt worn on your waist, or some other device.http://www.walmart.com/ip/Attwood-8oz-Safety-Airhorn/16203677?action=product_interest&action_type=title&item_id=16203677&placement_id=irs-106-t1&strategy=PWVUB&visitor_id&category=&client_guid=beb70a75-4cc4-44ec-8c2c-210461fe231b&customer_id_enc&config_id=106&parent_item_id=17128598&parent_anchor_item_id=17128598&guid=7a9be95f-1ab6-4c24-b645-df532deade46&bucket_id=irsbucketdefault&beacon_version=1.0.1&findingMethod=p13n
It's a loud siren that it's likely no one would sleep through. At least it might get you help a lot faster. That's just darn dangerous with one dog, much less two. It was a great story though. Just sorry it's true. My thoughts are with you.

Cha ching, your children are so fortunate to have a Mama like you. You gave them a healthy diet while making them think it was their idea, and you made me laugh.
Thank you for your compassion. No, I wasn't trying to be mean. She has an unfortunate habit of forcefully stating her beliefs but refusing to hear anyone else's.
Others outside of the religion have told her she is being taken advantage of by her congregation and have told my sister and myself of different money schemes that she is involved in with the congregation and is convinced it's "for Jehovah."
There's a big backstory, but enough said. Guess that knowing nothing would convince her the organization does any wrong, ever, I was hoping to plant a little seed that could slowly grow so she'd open her eyes. But, maybe it's better she doesn't. Just don't know, but do know I appreciate you kindness more than I can say. Thank you. -

Oh wow, Steve2. I didn't mean it to seem that way, but it does, doesn't it? There are reasons that I did it that way with her, but it may have been wrong. Your points are valid and I'll give them consideration. Thank you for your honesty and my apologies to anyone who was offended by it. -

Hi atacrossroads. So sorry for what you must be feeling. My husband has been dead for a long time, and neither of us were JW's, so it wasn't an issue between us. Don't want to imagine the pain it would cause to have religion between you and someone you love and intended to spend your life with. Marriage is a wonderful thing and I hope if it's still what you both want, that yours will work and you can each respect the others' choice. I admire your courage and wish you strength Will keep you in my prayers.
