we were raised one hundred-percent cult and our family obeyed all the rules that we could, some rules from the cult my mother refused to obey for a greater-good, like humanity, helping disfellowshiped ex-jws who were poor or depressed, she did not follow the cult's code of treating weak or mentally ill people like shit.

is anyone aware if this project is already being done by someone?
if not, perhaps we can brainstorm how to go about this, now that the pdf for the revised nwt is out.
a couple initial impressions:.
I said:
"Couldn't you just generate a two-column document that has each translation matching up verse for verse next to each other like a parallel Bible?"
You said:
"Unfortunately we won't be able to legally distribute that since it will be composed of the Society's copyrighted material."
But if someone already has obtained both copies legally (Like many of us have, by downloading them off JW.org) then they can legally view such a document.
It's like someone running MAME on their PC and playing a ROM image of Space Invaders. It is legal to do so as long as you own the original ROM. (And yes I do have a rom chip from space invaders believe it or not!)

I have not been following every bit of the tech side of this convo but couldn't you just generate a two-column document that has each translation matching up verse for verse next to each other like a parallel Bible?
As long as they lined up fairly close then people could quickly scrutinize the two and find the interesting differences.
ok so i watched the video and at about 07:25 the brother says that building 1.5 million square feet of construction in less than 4 years will not be done without jehovahs spirit.. .
is that such a big deal 1.5 million square feet in 4 years?.
merch mart in chicago took less than 2 years to build 4 million square feet.
"Jehovah's Witnesses- The Organization Behind The Name"
It was such a mouthful to say. It was the first video they ever released for order at the Kingdom Hall in 1989, on VHS tape and I was at Brooklyn Bethel then whikle the guy and his family were filming it so nearly everybody there then was in it somewhere.
between two congregations that i know of four elders have stepped down in the last two months!
there is something really going on in this mandmade organization!
it's busting at the seams!.
Well it's hard to find out if they stepped down or were deleted. In the older days they used to say a slightly different announcement but not any more.
will speakers at the kingdom hall be permitted to read the nwt from an ipad?
from a smartphone?
using the new official app.... .
I'd like to see a pic of it running on an iPad!

They love patting themselves on the back and standing in figurative cirle jerks with each other...
And to think I was in the first video they did on the Org... It's not shown anymore thank God!
well it took a loooong time to do, but i have typed up all 29,000+ words and made a transcript.
it has been a year and a month actually since i went in and let me them df me, and it feels great to be out of watchtower!!!!.
a picture of the first page is here:.
Hmmmm well Aunt Connie you might be right, I could have been off on that. I don't know their actual birthdays I just guessed based on knowing them for several years.
@ Torn Apart - Thank you sis for all your help and support these last couple years!
from the video description:.
a heartbreaking situation is played out every day for many grandparents that are former jehovah's witnesses or mormons: their precious grandchildren grow up without knowing them, and in some cases the little ones are told that their grandma or grandpa hates god and is serving satan and will be killed at armageddon.. .
why would such a terrible thing be done?
@ Cold Steel - I am not a mormon nor ever was. I am trying to do some research on this topic. Wiki says this:
---------------
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ("LDS Church"; see also Mormonism) practices excommunication as penalties for those who commit serious sins, i.e., actions that significantly impair the name or moral influence of the church or pose a threat to other members. The LDS Church also practices the lesser sanctions of private counsel and caution, informal probation, formal probation, and disfellowshipment.
---------------------
And PBS.org under the heading "Mormons" says this:
---------------------
What are the reasons for the church taking disciplinary action, or even excommunicating a member?
A 1990 article offered on the church's Web site lists the following reasons for convening a disciplinary council: "… abortion, transsexual operation, attempted murder, rape, forcible sexual abuse, intentionally inflicting serious physical injuries on others, adultery, fornication, homosexual relations, child abuse (sexual or physical), spouse abuse, deliberate abandonment of family responsibilities, robbery, burglary, theft, sale of illegal drugs, fraud, perjury, or false swearing."
In addition, "disciplinary councils must be held in cases of murder, incest or apostasy." Apostasy is defined by the church's General Handbook of Instructions as teaching or following incorrect doctrines or "repeatedly act[ing] in clear, open and deliberate public opposition to the church or its leaders."
Excommunication is the most severe punishment that a church disciplinary council can hand down against a member. Disfellowshipment is a punishment just short of excommunication in which a member remains part of the church but may not enter the temple, hold leadership roles, receive sacraments or perform priestly duties. Lesser disciplinary actions are private caution and informal or formal probation.
Excommunication results in a member's name being removed from the church records and disfellowshipment; an excommunicated member may not wear temple undergarments or tithe to the church, and the member's temple sealings to spouse and children are suspended.
Excommunicated members may rejoin the church after repenting and undergoing re-baptism.

----------------------
And this on Yahoo answers:
----------------------
You can be put on probation, informally or formally. You can be disfellowshipped. You can be excommunicated. Sometimes it is announced from the pulpit, often not.
If you live in a rural Utah community, you can lose all your customers, business partners, friends and family, but that varies a lot.
(Ruth, there is now a process for sending in a letter to get your name removed from the rolls. It was instigated after some court cases. I remember the days before when we were told to request our own excommunication if we decided the church was a fraud.)
----------------------
However another Mormon says almost the opposite:
--------------------------
We are not supposed to shun anyone, though many ex-members say they are. Many people erroneously think that when a person is excommunicated they are no longer welcome at church. This is not true, they are not only welcome, but are encouraged to continue to attend church and participate in activities while they work to repent and regain membership. I have one friend who was excommunicated, had no desire to be re-baptized but very actively attended church.
We don't do anything to people who leave the church. If someone is my friend they will continue to be my friend whether they belong to the same religion as me or not.
More often than not, I notice that it's the people who leave the Church that are the ones who do the shunning, by indicating they don't want anything more to do with not only the Church but the members as well.
