Its up to each person to find their own spirituality, nobody has the right to teach others about spritual stuff and people have to find out their own way, for themselves. Religion is totally wrong and it is there to draw us away from that. Once you get past that you will see that its abuot living how YOU feel is the right way not how other people tell you. It makes me mad tho when I see all the evil and injustices going on in the world, and the evil prospering. There must be more to it all than this surely?

  Can a person believe that the Bible contradicts itself and be a Christian?

  i am having some conflicting feelings lately that i need some advice on.

  i am starting to believe that the bible contradicts itself but at the same time i love jehovah and jesus and have hope for some form of eternal life.

  that will never change but i have never believed in the bible 100% coming from god.

  What is the basis of the teachings of a Christian? The Bible. Where else? Apart from those who claim to speak for God / Christ, nowhere. So basically what sense does it make to base your entire belief system on a book that is not only contradictory, but evil? Can you trust a liar, a hypocrite? Dont forget WHO compliled the current cannon... the corrupt and "apostate" Catholic church. Whatever truth the scriptures contained is distorted now. The bible is a collection of distorted scriptures, propaganda, chronicles written down by men, and some outright bullshit. The bible has an agenda and that is to draw people as far from the true God, who is most definitely not the one in that twisted book. You will then come to realise, what if Christ is not actually real, or he is a red herring, or even the devil? Where else can you find "evidence" of Christ, besides the people who claim to speak to him and the bible? How can you truly know what parts of the bible are real and those that are not? It is impossible.

  Do you believe that ancient humans once had advanced technology?

  this is something that has been tossed around for some time, but something occurred to me: if ancient humans did have advanced technology, such as space travel, we would know about it.

  the reason i say we would know about it is because they would most certainly have left objects in orbit around earth.

  yes, the low-orbit objects would have eventually fallen back due to the drag of the upper atmosphere.

  I think that humans have had technology like we have now before, and not necessarily on this planet either. It also would have been much more advanced. To say because there is no evidence of advanced ancient technology is proof it did not exist is closed minded. There could be valid reasons, such as it being covered up, or simply destroyed in a disaster such as global warfare (nukes?). I reckon they will / have found some interesting stuff in the asteroid belt. That used to be a planet. Who's to say it wasnt populated, and destroyed either naturally or in warfare? There is plenty of stuff in the bible that suggests that people knew more than we are told they did at the time it was written. How else could anyone have known what the earth looks like from space, if the technology did not exist to view it? While I dont believe the bible to be the divinely inspired book religious crackpots claim it to be, I do think there are elements of truth mingled in amongst the propaganda. You have to keep in mind that in this world, we are only told what "they" want us to know, and given what they want us to have. There are undoubtedly many many truths being witheld, that if let out, would fuck up everyone's beliefs and expose things like religion to be the fraud it is.

  i told my parents i dont believe in god, i dont believe in all this mystical stuff it seems like magic to me.

  i like science better, i believe in the big bang, and evolution.

  my keeps asking for proof, he says he has the bible.

  Evolution is a theory remember, it hasnt been proven. To me, evolution makes as much sense as the bible does, both are just ways people try to explain how we got here.

  Ive been here before, Brownboy. Are you aware of MDS? He was also a prophet. I fell for his lies. He was a lot more convincing than you can ever hope to be. But I eventually saw through them... then when his prophecies failed to pass he disappeared. Well, he DID say he was going to dissapear for a few years, convenient though really, hes no longer around to answer for what he did.

  I suggest you give up now cos ive seen so many prophets on this board and others think they are great and doing what god wants.

  AS far as I am concerned, if your god has anything to say to me, he says it to me direct. People are liars. Should not listen to people. We cannot read the hearts of other people, so how are we to know if they have their own agenda? People can be extremely deceptive. God is all-powerful, right? So, why the need of messengers when he could tell individuals in ways they will know its from God? He shouldnt need messengers.

  All this fear you are spreading, misapplying these "scriptures" (and I cant believe you actually think they hold any worth considering the manipulation they have undergone throughout the millenia) to modern events. To put it in laymans terms: You are full of shit.

  But I know this is pointless. Maybe it will get to you though. I hope so. If you sincerely believe this is your calling then I cannot take that away from you, but remember ONE thing: NOT A SINGLE human being can teach another human being Spiritual matters. It is up to each of us as individuals to find out for ourselves. We all walk our OWN path, I cannot walk yours just as much as you cannot walk mine.

  He was one of, if not the, only truly open-minded music lovers left in the BBC. While nobody else gave up & coming artists the time of day, he played their tracks on national radio. Its a sad day for music and the entire scene will suffer as a result.

  While he cannot be replaced, I hope that the BBC find someone similar as he was needed. Such as shame hes gone.

  I think some of you are being overly harsh on Shelby.

  I dont know who Socrates is or was, Im not about to read up on him either. But I do know you cant trust what is written down by men, particularly from hundreds of years ago. Including the bible. Hell, you cant even trust what was written today as the truth. You are treating what is written about him is the absolute truth. Do you know it is? Can you prove it is?

  I dont think Shelby was quite directing us to Socrates, but just using him as an example that he was given the same sort of work as other prophets, am I right? I for one am not going to read up on what a human had to say to live my life. Unless I hear it direct from God or Christ, then i dont believe it. Even if it is from a person who claims they are speaking on behalf of God or Christ.

  I just dont see why God or Christ cant tell me directly what I want and need to know. I have waited for this "voice" to talk to me, but I have heard nothing. Its because "I dont want to hear" or similar reasons... yet, still, I cant hear even though I DO want to hear the truth. Now, is it because these peopel talking to me a false, or because God doesnt want to know me, or what? Ultimately. EVERYTHING spiritual I have been taught has come from PEOPLE.... maybe this is the hint I need.

  I really want to know the truth, but I cant seem to find it. Or... maybe I already have, and its a harsh reality. That there is no fairytale. That this is all there is. I sincerely hope this is not true, because if it is then all is pointless and good is just worthless as evil ultimately prevails the way things are.

  I know this is not how things are, because of the many many wonders in the universe. All by chance? No chance. Not possible, and I dont believe that some convenient fairytale process called "evolution" created it all. Maybe humans are just incapable of understanding some things, and this is one of them.

  Sorry for going off on a tangent I am just trying to sort out a lot of stuff in my head.
