Descended from animal? Explain language.
by StopTheTears inif, as evolutionists claim, all of mankind evolved from the same primitive life-source, then how did we end up with 7,000 different languages?
did one gorilla get angry at another gorilla and decide to start a new language?
i'm intrigued to know.. .

Stop the Tears, how did we go from the Latin language to Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian, Italian, French, etc.?
Did God decide to confound a small portion of humanity yet again?
God- Darnit! These humans are annoying me with their awsome buildings yet again! Look at that badass aqueduct! Or that impossible to build Pantheon, dedicated to other Gods besides me, no less! It's time to bust a move!
Language aside, I think the real arguement you should be presenting is language itself. Language is a huge leap from mere grunts, for it is highly symbolic.
A dog may whine, and let's others know he is in pain, or wants something. A dog may bark when it smells an intruder, or has found something that has sparked its interest.
A human may speak words monotonously, yet convey many different meanings through the symbols we call words. Or, the arguement that only humans have the anatomy to speak and understand each other. (parrots aside)

They will have to revise doctrine yet again, and after their idiotic "Overlapping Generations", they are due for a major overhaul of doctrine. That's the reason for the emphasis on the "slave" recently.
WT- Eat this rank and file JW's!
JW's- This tastes like shit!
WT- Remember, Matthew 24:45-47!
JW's- Can I have some more please?

Have you built your MEMORY PALACE?
by Terry init is any place you know so well your memory of it is intimate knowledge you simply will not forget.
this, in turn, will serve as a mnemonic device or place of safekeeping for anything you wish to remember (forwards or backwards).. memory experts "build" a great many of these for various uses.. .
1.a jar of pickled garlic (here is where you fix the item: imagine in your mind's eye smashing that jar in the middle of the driveway with the juice running out into the street and the pieces of garlic stinking up the neighborhood.

I myself usually don't use this method. I believe it was created by the Romans. There are a great deal of other methods for mneumonics. Use one that works best for you.

The "Verboten" Principle: Ignored By Watchtower Leaders
by metatron ini once read an observation as a teenager that i never forgot.
i called it the "verboten" principle.. in nazi germany, as with other totalitarian systems, there is a tendency to vastly multiply signs that read "verboten!
" (forbidden!).

How big is apostasy?
by Knowsnothing inin the short time i've lurked and been on here, i've seen a couple of new people join, and tell their experiences.
my question is, how big is apostasy in numbers?
could we take a rough guess?

I know jwfacts has touched on this subject, but there is also the question of "faders" or people that keep face for the sake of not getting shunned.
I'm just curious to see how we(apostates) measure up to JW membership(the believing membership).
And I suppose this also outs me as one ;)

Why we grow old and die
by ballistic in"why we grow old and die"... i remember seeing this article quite a lot, but maybe you could tell me if it still comes around?.
anyhow, i was watching a tv programme the other day about nature following the second law of thermodynamics and i realised that everything around us breaks down, everything wears, things that move generate friction, the tendancy for particles is to fall apart and "entropy" to increase, just as the universe itself will one day have no structure left as such, just randomness of elementary particles floating about and darkness.. .
really, the question implies a bogus argument.

By "inherent" ability, I mean that the body can regenerate what is lost, to a great extent. And that science fails to understand the aging process as of yet, they simply do not understand the "why" of aging, considering the body continues to produce cells and regenerate. This process seemingly should go on forever, but for some reason, it ceases.
Ok, I'll accept your position of the universe for sake of discussion. The universe and everything in it has a natural tendency to decay, and to disorganise. We are in this "spec of time" in which it is possible for life to happen. However, the universe came about as a violent explosion, spread at an enormous speed, and yet you expect me to believe that the organisation that exists with in it now, galaxies, galaxy clusters, our very own solar system, is a product of entropy? Of the polar opposite of organisation? Mind you, the burden of proof is upon you, for the universe is billions of years old, and even in that cosmic scale, in which billions of years means nothing, you have yet to account why it still remains so organised. Entropy would have taken hold immediately after the Big Bang.
Shit would be flying around everywhere, yet it would have no order, because for it to have order goes contrary to the second law of thermodynamics.

Well, there is a counter explanation I've heard, that says basically we certainly have the inherent ability to continue living. Yet we don't. Why is that?
As for your entropy arguement, why is it that the universe, being the billions of years old that it is, hasn't already become a giant, jumbled trash bin? Why after all that time, is there still order within? Shouldn't it have broken down long ago?
Remember, entropy doesn't take that long to affect things.
And, in case your wondering, my stand is the God that fills the gaps, not necessarily the Biblical God.

A Gift of Literature to JWs Everywhere
by ABibleStudent inhave you ever wanted to give something to a jw that shows how much you care about them, as an individual (possibly even as friend/family member)?
have you ever wanted to free the mind of a jw?
if you have asked yourself these types of questions, how do you feel jws would respond to receiving and reading the following flyer?

IMO, there is no specific way to open a JW's mind. I think a good one is drawing parallels between our religion and a familiar cult, say Mormons, Moonies, etc. It really should be a case by case basis, and not something outright.
