I don't get U2 or the Beatles either. The Beatles has a song or two that are appealing. The rest are too.... happy for me.

From the blog:
I was a twinkle in my mothers boyfriends’ testes in 1975, so I asked her why so many Jehovah’s Witnesses left in that year. “Mum, you do realise that the Governing Body’s decision to say that 1975 was the beginning of the 1,000 reign destroyed people’s lives? Many didn’t set up retirement or health plans in anticipation of the end of the system of things. This impacted on their children and caused so much heartache and stress.”
I always get the same response, “the Organisation back then, as it is now, is run by imperfect men. I knew to wait on Jehovah (Governing Body, my comment), so I don’t know why these ones didn’t. In the end, they left the truth(a religion that made false predictions) and showed their true colours. Why didn’t they wait on Jehovah?” (Governing Body to correct their mistakes)
I "waited on Jehovah" 12 years. That was more than enough for me. To anyone reading this, don't waste your time waiting. Spend it living.

The collision with the Andromeda galaxy has negligible effects, because by then, life as we know it will cease to exist.
Without intervention, by the time that the two galaxies collide, the surface of the Earth will have already become far too hot for liquid water to exist, ending all terrestrial life, which is currently estimated to occur in about 1.4 billion years due to gradually increasing luminosity of the Sun.
Tootired, I asked this recently on another board, and if you believe that the universe is evidence of design, that then God will intervene. At least, that's the excuse that was given.

Why some cults may be healthy
by Mr Facts infor your information, not all cults are destructive as may be generally assumed.
as a therapist, i will list the folowing points as reasons why some cults may be healthy, especially the jw organisation.. 1) their stand on material prosperity shields their members from unnecessary worries of life.
their constant emphasis on simple life prevents you from entering into debt-imposed problems safeguarding you from the possibilities of sleepless night, financial stress and the rest .. 2) their behavioural control mechanism helps to constantly keep your lives in checks and balance by injecting sanity into your conscious being.. 3) reporting you deviant thoughts, feelings, and actions to leaders helps to coordinate your life and brings it in conformity to impeccable manners(the desire of every sane human mammal).. 4) their extensive use of cult generated information and propaganda constantly triggers your consciousness for the need to do things right (a positive reinforcement).. 5) their ethical use of confession makes you see that the universe cares for you and you are not alone in the grand scheme of things.. 6) their loaded languages offers you feelings of belonging, which we all aspire in a secluded and socially quarantined world.. .

To all this excellent advice, I'd like to add some more points.
7.) Discouraging college and higher education produces quality family time, by freeing more time for the ministry as well as by eliminating paying exhorbitant college prices.
8.) The united stand against blood reinforces brotherly bonds, to the point of death if necessary. Who wouldn't want someone to commend you on your very last moments of life for your bravery and fidelity? Why wouldn't you want to have someone with you, encouraging you in your last moments in life?
Truly, cults are the answers to all of life's problems. You sir, are a genius.

Dear sd-7, erhm, Writing Committee.
Hello brothers at Bethel, or should I say Beth-Sarim? I missed the last meeting, but was told of this new change of name. I hope Jehovah will spare his divine wrath upon me for missing the meeting, for I was discovering the shear bliss of burying the corpses left over from Jehovah's Day of Glory. Truly wondrous, smellifying spectacle it all was. The flock of buzzards was just majestic, hovering over the dead bodies in circular formation, cleansing the earth of all the evil; the wonders of Jehovah's creation! Who can really know the mind of Jehovah? 1 Cor. 2:16
I digress brothers, I was writing in regards to a small matter that came to my attention regarding the otherwise perfectly written Beast Tower article #4. I noticed "organization" was not capitalized. If I remember correctly, last week a meeting was held that revised this understanding. Surely, our loving Theocracy deserves to represent Jehovah with dignity, and what better way than to write "Organization", as opposed to "organization"!
I'm sure this was just an oversight on your part, but alas, perfection will most certainly be achieved at the end of Christ's Millenial Reign. Surely by then, no such loving yet humble corrections will have to come from us "other sheep" (John 10:16). At the appointed time, you will most certainly share of the "divine nature" (2 Peter 1:4), and who knows if even then God will elect to keep you here, as loving Overseers, Kings, and Priests of God's new covenant (Rev. 5:10)
Send my warm love to the resurrected Abraham, I'm sure he loves his sacred duty to Jehovah operating the printing press through which such bountiful spiritual food we so depend up graces our everyday.
Your brother from another flock,
Knowsnothing.

You are right...it is our understanding.....men wrote the book or books.
How could it not be our understanding. Then again...if this is what god said....he contradicts himself....very human of him...

The Path to FREEDOM
by SweetBabyCheezits ini realize i peddle carl sagan like christians peddle jesus but i think every one of us who has survived the watchtower, regardless of our current beliefs, should be able to appreciate this.
in the path to freedom (chapter from one of his books), sagan was discussing frederick (bailey) douglass's life in the early 19th century and his quest for literal freedom.
see if anything here sounds familiar:.

she said for something to be fixed first it must become known what needs fixing.
it is true for the physical, but also for the spiritual i believe.

If you guys really believe in evolution, aliens are not a farfetched idea.
It would be wise, however, to reserve judgment until we actually know what those lights were.
