I'm not claiming anything, I'm defending.
Defend away. Why do you believe, or rather, how do you know God has always existed? Please explain to me, because I don't understand how you arrive at this conclusion.
life come from the living, and this is a universe of life.
his teachings are truth.
which is why i weight it against the truth of the teachings (and one other thing that i will get to).

my jw sister was over tonight for supper and after a couple of glasses of vino she told me that "today's watchtower study was bullshit" and that one of the 'elite elders' made a comment that bothered her a great deal.. he was apparently at bethel not too long ago and "one of the big-wigs" who was giving a talk said "don't be afraid of dying for the truth brothers" and this jackass was stupid enough to repeat this at the meeting.
it bothered my sister a great deal and i said to her: "soooo are they going to start passing out the kood-aid or what?
" she knew exactly what i was talking about and she said "ya, i wondered the same thing.
In vino veritas.
Wine has a way of bringing out the truth.
I wonder what the GB would admit to...

Bio, the burden of proof is on you.
Where is the evidence to back your claim?

Biometrics, how do you know?
the latest august 15th watchtower study edition features an interesting review of the society's annual meeting.. one comment struck me as evidence that the governing body isn't quite as "discreet" as it claims.. here is what the article said:.
"there are plans to develop a 248-acre (100 ha) property at warwick.
'although we are not yet certain of jehovahs will regarding warwick,' said brother pierce, 'we are proceeding to develop the site with the intention of relocating the world headquarters of jehovahs witnesses there.
I'm sure Russell made similar statements. You know the funny thing? All this crap is continuously recycled, and yet we bought it, we gulped it down. Ignorance is not bliss.
my undisputed hero of the bible is known by several names, depending on who you talk to...devil, satan, lucifer, etc.. read it, and you'll find that he was the only one who really stood up for you.. he asserted that you could make decisions for yourself...and told you the very real truth that, just because the piece of meat in your chest stops thumping, you positively do not 'die'.. he was your hero.
he stood up to a daddy-maniac and said, 'just because you made us doesnt mean you have the right to tell us what to do.
i thought we were free?'.
The first evil was created by the Devil when he plotted to take the throne of God for himself.
That is a vapid attempt, you realize? It's David v. Goliath Quasar, so that's a moot point. There is no contest, and any attempt would be a foolhardy, complete and utter failure.

Sab, are you suggesting the narrative of Eden is merely symbolic for the serpent, the Devil, but literal for God? How do you, oh wise one, know how to differentiate? Or do you just play "pin the tail on the donkey" theology?

(If you eat, you will die... consequence, not punishment)
Not quite. There was no point in eating, unless it garnered some benefit. God "adorned" the tree, made it provocative. God made it provocative, but then put a warning up.
Go on, tell your son specifically not to draw on the wall with a crayon, and see what happens. Worse, if there is an older sibling doing it, watch how the younger one is tempted even more.
Maybe we need to learn things, rather than just having everything downloaded, so to speak. Just a thought.
Sure, learn first hand about a snake bite.

They could not do this without dying.
? Pain let's you know if something is bad. In fact, we are built to understand pain (at least most of us, sorry psychopaths).
Touch is the one sense we could not live without, we would die without it, and understanding pain precisely prevents us from continuing that harmful course.
Knowing of bad before you are ready to know not to choose it... well, that might well lead into you choosing it, or thinking that the consequences
might work to your favor, instead of your harm.
God essentially created two adults with the minds of children. There is something about that that just doesn't seem right.

Tec, don't you think it would serve you well to know of bad? I'll give you an example. As a child, you might not be aware that walking too close to a cliff is potentially dangerous. It is a service to you to know that such an action is bad.
As for good, well it would be great if we knew that before hand too, so that we don't fall into what is bad, you see?
Their innocence aside, such a knowledge seems necessary, and we have a need for that as well, otherwise we are doomed to repeat the failures of our ancestors.
