"Pharoah's Palace, 1 Eye of Horus Way"
sorry for the lengthy thread, i've spent too many years preparing talks.
i can't help it.
i had so many questions as a kid when my dad read me "my book of bible stories".
Or the ant-eater, and it's extremely long tongue to suck on difficult to get grapes? Or the chameleon, with its wicked fast and long tongue to whisper sweet nothings into a fly's ears?
a brother called me to ask who was delivering the talk at our hall.
i didn't know what he was talking about.
he then explained to me that this week, for the local needs, congregations across the us will have a brother deliver a special outline on blood transfusions.. .
Already had this talk in my hall. It speaks about helping your children through it, even though the law of the land prohibits parents from making life-saving decisions. Hospital Liason Commitee, bla bla bla.
and if so, would that prove an existence of evil-spirits (demons)?.
i have heard of a couple of stories of possession, or of jw's talking to spiritists and the spiritists having seen 2 men following the jw, either dressed all in black, or all in white, and very strong looking.
yet, i have never experienced any of it.. another experience that i heard is about a brother whose mom had super-natural strength, and tossed something really heavy.
While I would not recommend it, and will sound hypocritical for it, for those of you that don't believe, have you ever actually tryed the Ouiji board? Wouldn't that be the perfect way to "test" if spirits do exist?
I'll tell you one thing for sure, not even if they payed me, would I go for that. I'd rather be doubtful about the existence of spirits, and not go out to prove it any day, than to be haunted.

I too always found it hard to wrap my head around a God that has had no beginning. BTW, WT doesn't teach 6000 yr old earth anymore. You might wanna update on this...
As for creation itself and the questions you asked, they are perfectly logical. I mean, sharks have rows of teeth that grow back, are razor sharp, can smell blood from a mile away, etc. etc. Scorpions naturally have venom. The Earth's crust sits on techtonic plates, and the crust is continually renewed thanks to subduction, conversion zones, which cause earthquakes. Volcanos also exist thanks to the pushing up of the plates against each other. Wolves are highly social animals, and hunt efficiently in packs. Same think with killer whales, dolphins, etc. God made fungus to break down organic substances, such as rotting trees; bacteria to break down dead animals, humans... So your right. It just doesn't make sense that this is somehow "imperfect creation". Look at how complex ecosystems and food chains are. Yet they work!
And that's just creation. Analyze some biblical passages, and you can't even give a decent explanation for some of them. One of the stories that has always bothered me is Babel. Genesis 8:3-9
1 Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. 2 As people moved eastward, [a] they found a plain in Shinar [b] and settled there.
3 They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. 4 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”
5 But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. 6 The LORD said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”
8 So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. 9 That is why it was called Babel [c] —because there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth.
First off, any technology back then could not compare to today. So, any possible tower being built could not possibly have been any higher than say, the Dubai tower. If God, in his infinite knowledge and foresight, saw humanity build these enormous structures today in the future, why did he decide to stop them then? Again, there is nothing back then that comes close to the stuff humans are doing now. Humans are practically playing God by cloning, creating organs out of stem cells, and so much more.
In verse 6, God seems to fear that these simple humans can apparently do anything. Huh? Why would Godfear humans? These tiny specs of dust? And, what of God's purpose for humans to “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”(Genesis 1:28)?
Instead of confusing their language, why not simply ask them nicely to extend themselves over the earth? Something about this account doesn't seem right...

but i don't put labels on things like that. it's freaky when it happens though. -lesabre
So, is there proof in the existence of angels and demons?
There's a couple more that brothers have told me. Like one where a brother that used to practice spiritism before converting had apparently made a pact with a demon or the devil, and for some reason could not travel or step a foot to Finland, or one of those Nordic countries(weird, I know, but that was the pact's condition!)
In another, an ex-spiritist brother was bothered in his sleep by spirits, and he had to fight them. Would have to pray to God. Note, he was not crazy. A perfectly sane brother. Eventually the attacks stopped.
In another, a friend from KH told me that he had bought something in the flee-market, and had to through it away because it was causing ill-effects in the family. Crap wouldn't work. Things like the car, tv, etc. would break down. People in the household got sick(he had a big family). And, I'm not sure if it was him, but he said that on throwing it away, it mysteriously reappeared in his room.
There's also alot from my ex-stepdad. He said he slept with a demon when he was 20. He could predict the near-future accurately. He would also concoct herbal remedies. He even spoke of a person that was resurrected by a chief-shaman. I learned from him that spiritism also has ranks, and he described his being a spirit-medium like being a JW MS. Now that I think back on it, I lol, but don't discredit these accounts completely, even though some may be exaggerated.
Also, on a side note, I wonder how athiests explain these phenomena, or if they've ever experienced anything of the like, and to whom or what they attribute it to.

I've always been freaked out by these anecdotal accounts, even by the more blander ones about people preaching and being accompanied by "angels".
Anyone care shed light on the subject?
hello to everyone!
i guess the easiest way to introduce myself is by letting you know i'm headisspinning's husband.
it might take a little bit for me to open up, but i enjoy reading the posts and responses on here.
Ahoy! I'm not a pirate.
If I may ask, do you hold any doubts, or are you fully convinced this isn't "it"?
who holds the world record for the most disfellowshipings [ an reinstatments] in a single life time?.
i knew of one poor person charleen moss (roy baty's sister) who did it seven times.
she was a classic damed if i do, damed if i don't.
Man, wtf! Why would anyone put themselves through that? Oh wait, ITSACULT!
with the continual emphasis that the watchtower places on following and trusting the fds and the gb in particular, one can only come to the following conclusion:.
the watchtower (and the jehovah's witnesses) are followers of a cult that worships the fds and the gb!.
essentially everything in the bible refers to the fds/gb.. everyone must listen to and follow what the gb says.. everyone must consume the "rich spiritual food" provided by the fds and the gb!.
The GB: We have all the answers!
I(knowsnothing): Then what's the question for 42?
The GB: (brains simultaneously explode)
