Thanks for sharing this experience, Terry.
I shed a couple of tears, and like those who were catatonic, it moved something in me and brought me to life.
he was recruited, sort of, when his church (unity) was queried if they had somebody who could.
god is love.
feel love instead of hate for that person who wronged you.

outsmart - you keep mentioning the imperfections of the elders....and how people need to overlook them because we are all imperfect and we need to learn what true humility is.....etc etc.
dj - if this is what you believe to be true, then you are mistaken, because even though jehovah's witnesses are directed by holy spirit, we have at times 'gotten it wrong.
dj - i can agree that jehovah's witnesses are god's mouthpiece today, that we do speak for god.
There is no requirement on the part of any of Jehovah's Witnesses to believe anyone's "edicts" in order for the individual Witness to gain God's approval. Where are you getting this nonsense?
Found this little gold mine right here.
Oh, we get this "nonsense" right from the WT no less.
"Naturally, all elders must submit to Christ's "right hand" of control, guidance, and direction, which he exercises by means of the spirit and the spirit-begotten members of the Governing Body." Watchtower 1987 Aug 1 p.19
More here.
As for us being "followers of Franz"?
DJeggnogg, how low will you go in your accusations of "ex-JW's"?
i have put together a video - growing up a jehovah's witness 1960 -2010. it aims to show the things a witnesses would be taught as they age over those decades.
it is 15 minutes long.
this is my first attempt at a video and it took a while to work out how to use final cut, so please feel free to make suggestions if anything should be changed.
Oi, good job mate! Heh, cool accent.
The only correction I have is in the credits. You say at the very end, "is supplied at no char"
should be "no charge."
Small thing.
well, as i mentioned before in one of my few other posts, i've been lurking here for some time now and finally decided it was time to face the facts and take action.. i was raised a jw (4th generation) and my parents were quite zealous when they got married.
mom was a regular pioneer and dad was a ms. i was the little jw 'rockstar' in my congregation, got baptized at 10, was giving talks and serving as an attendant at the hall and at conventions at such an early age.
auxiliary pioneered whenever i could.
I was the little JW 'rockstar' in my congregation, got baptized at 10
Lol, I can totally relate. Glad your awake and out!
Make your circle of friends great, so that you won't have to rely on JW's.
where did this idea that angels came from the sky flapping their wings?
were in the bible does it say that angels had wings?
aren't angels just messangers?.
I believe the Bible, especially in Revelation, describes angels having wings.
Also, the design of the Ark of the Covenant had 2 cherubs with wings covering them on top of the lid, if I'm not mistaken.
Remember, alot of things in the Bible are symbolic. Spirit creatures wouldn't "need" any of this.
This is just the best way for these ancient dudes to describe what they saw.
two main one's for me were god being capricious and serendipitous..
For me, and I apologize if it's been mentioned already, was the concept of an infinite being.
I believe I have somewhat gotten past that, but that was a big aspect for me in my youth.
"Where did God come from? Why did he take so long to create anything? How could he have been all alone all that time?"
Questions I have now are, "Why does God allow all these religions to exist, even though he allows free will? Isn't that contrary to 1 Timothy 2:4?
Shouldn't his "way" be clear and inequivocable for all of humanity? Why doesn't a Muslim born in Iraq get granted the same opportunity as say, an elder's son, etc. etc."
"If God is a God of truth and order, why did he give such ambiguous explanations in his own Holy Book? Why do people that read the same Bible come to different conclusions?"
There are many more, but these are core I believe. Unless you can satisfactorily answer these questions, why even move on? Who can really know?
what do you think this quote might mean to you.
.
"what you think you become"-buddha.
Nothing.
Life is too complex.
So I think about janitors cleaning, and I become one?
I think of food, and I become food?
How many times did I think negative, yet did not become negative? Strange....
this song just came on the radio and i remember listening to it when i was a jw.
it's funny how i agreed with the song and how it critized other religions and i totally missed the part where it includes jehovah witness too, lol.
just went over my head.. it's in spanish, sorry, but i also pasted the translation.. .
Beautiful song. I really like his songs. He also writes alot of songs about protests.
Since I was a little boy I started to learn that religion is nothing but a manual
that's title is " Forbidden to Think" for everything's already written.
Truer words have not been spoken. This song shows what Jesus is all about.
I'd like to let people listen to this song, instead of monotonously drone on about "What does the Bible really teach?" book.
.
...that if i'm interested in someone, i read through their posting history to see what kind of people they are.. .
there.
That must sure take alot of time.....
'Sides, don't think there is anything wrong with that.
i was on facebook snooping on a former "friend" still stuck in the cult and he recently posted the following:.
"yeah i was looking at them [kids lighting firecrackers] out my window last night.
i was thinking, these people are so ignorant.
Ah, but if it's God that does it, it's divine justice.
