Sad News...
by Sentinel inmy mom had her valve replacement and triple by-pass surgery today.
the operation lasted five hours, and they had just gotten her to her room at 8:00pm when she went into cardiac arrest.
the doctor tried everything, even opening up her chest and massaging her heart.

Another mother kills her children....
by desib77 inthis is so horrible....... http://abcnews.go.com/wire/us/ap20040615_247.html.
it seems like over recent years it is just becoming way too common for a mother to kill her children....it is sickening.
i wish something could be done to make this stop happening.....maybe if we started punishing the mothers more strongly instead of allowing them to get easier sentences based on insanity defenses then this would stop happening as frequently....i don't know, but i wish it would stop.

The court ruled that as it was dark when the offence was committed Modiba might not have realised the extent of the injuries which landed the victim in hospital for two months.
Mind boggling.

Oh, those pesky memos.
Prison torture scandal deeper than just a few bad apples? Interesting article sheds more light on this.
Beating Specialist Baker
by Nicholas D. KristofThe prison abuse scandal refuses to die because soothing White House explanations keep colliding with revelations about dead prisoners and further connivance by senior military officers ? and newly discovered victims, like Sean Baker.
If Sean Baker doesn't sound like an Iraqi name, it isn't. Specialist Baker, 37, is an American, and he was a proud U.S. soldier. An Air Force veteran and member of the Kentucky National Guard, he served in the first gulf war and more recently was a military policeman in Guantánamo Bay.
Then in January 2003, an officer in Guantánamo asked him to pretend to be a prisoner in a training drill...
A must-read. Get the rest of the story here: http://www.veteransforcommonsense.org/newsArticle.asp?id=1745

JWD ....the opium of the Ex ?
by ScoobySnax inmarx reckoned religion was the opium of the people, i'm no marx, but i reckon jwd has become the opium of the exjws.
it satisfies a need, gives one a purpose, feels someone with a greater sense of purpose, trys to give one a purpose and reason for being here, and very closely becomes a "religion" of sorts to many.
many here claim they stay to help others out of the wbts, where in fact i think they stay because it has become their new "opium" its a focal point they can meet with like minded individuals to further their own new "belief".

Acts of peaceful protest like Mr. Previtera's don't need to get played down due to hand-wringing over any potential polarizing effects.
W.R.o.F. probably has the potential to "further polarize people" also. In addition, some folks could very well hijack the red shirt movement as their own (example: Show your support for the Bush administration! Wear red on Fridays!) Then how whould we know who was protesting what? lol.
I actually like the idea of a W.R.o.F movement. It appeals to my sense of freedom on so many levels
