Does anyone else not really care about Katrina?
by sonnyboy inok, some people may call me a heartless bastard for making this thread, but i have to be honest.. i really don't care about the hurricane victims.
i highly doubt that the people walking through walmart with shopping carts full of clothing and electronics would send me one f'ing red cent if i was in need (and i am in need, by the way).. i just can't find it in my heart to care at all.
maybe i'm the only one who thinks like this, but i've been struggling to survive for the past 2 years and no one has ever lifted a finger to help me.

I understand where you're coming from.
I don't, but I'm trying to.
Let me see if I have this straight: you resent the help the hurricane victims are getting because so many others needed help (and didn't get it) before Katrina hit?
I know of some who cannot handle day to day pain, so they shut off the caring parts of themselves, so that they don't feel the pain anymore.
The downside to this is that when something does happen that elicits compassion in most people -- the "shut-down" folks are too numb to feel or care about another's suffering.
Could this be what is happening with you? Not attacking -- sincerely trying to understand.

Dubs Pimp Katrina
by Valis inwell they certainly didn't waste any time using this disaster to their own twisted advantage...they stuck this on their home page with a quickness.
http://www.watchtower.org/library/g/2003/8/8/article_01.htmperfect weather control.
in god's new world, people will not have to fear having their home or crops wiped out by freakish storms.

Ok, I checked out the "JW-Aid" site and found this in the FAQ section:
Scam Alert: There are already emails, blogs and "news releases" directing people to donate at websites supposedly managed by Jehovah's Witnesses. Most of them are hostile to our cause and simply channel all or some of the funds to other relief organizations
-- So those evil sites out there are misleading the witnesses to send funds to "other relief organizations" -- and not pocketing the $$ themselves? How utterly bizarre a scam is that?

Brits' experience in The Superdome
by MegaDude insome people who won't come back to visit the usa anytime soon.... i just do not understand the sexual harrassment of these women in this emergency situation.

Though Miss Wheeldon escaped being raped (as some women and children were) one can hardly begin to imagine how horrible the experience must have been for her.
One thing I found inspiring was the absence of any hate or malice in her even-handed comment:
"The majority of the people of New Orleans are absolutely lovely," she said. "Some families were ready to give us their food even though they had nothing."

from there we took a bus to trenton military base where they boarded a flight to houston and from there they will be deployed across the 4 affected states.
another 12 had made other arrangements and were meeting up with them down in houston.

Why are there more JWs on Social Security Beneifits than any other Religion
by MARTINLEYSHON inon a per capita ratio jws ethos for claiming off the state is higher than any other religion.
does anyone have the answer?

The show explained that since it was illegal to practice polygamy, they would marry them, but not report it to the state, no license, no records etc. Then when they had kids, by the records the women were unwed mothers, and they filed for welfare on the orders of the man.
AllAlongTheWatchtower, I was thinking about that too --those who practice polygamy (no longer officially sanctioned by Mormonism) -- and how welfare fraud is common within their ranks.

No end to the grief(Katrina pets)

Initially I didn't spare a thought for all the pets until I saw footage of an older gentleman being rescued from a rooftop -- and how alone his dog looked as it sat on the roof watching the rescue boat speed away. Giving the refugees priority meant the dog had to be abandoned.Having to leave the pets behind -- another added layer of pain. Very sad.

then i bugged the heck out of six of nine to go with me because i was not sure what i was getting into and did not want to go alone...though i would have.. so we went to the store and bought 100 dollars of items.
