"Jehovah God's Organization" (to the tune of "Hotel California")
by AlmostAtheist inthis has been rolling in and out of head for weeks (as so many things do) and so i finally got it all out.. dave.
with apologies to the eagles.... "jehovah god's organization" (to the tune of "hotel california").
on a warm summer morning, a ring at the bell.. two nice dressed folks, claiming there ain't no hell.. makes sense to me, i thought, sure, i'll take the book.. what i read in there seemed true at the time,.

Something I wished my non-JW father had said to my mother when it was time to go to meeting:
"Oh no honey, you're not taking the kids to meeting this time. Tonight is 'family night' (or "family day" if on a Sunday) and we're going to spend some quality time doing something we can ALL do -- together." And then take us all somewhere (movies/zoo/picnic at the beach, etc.) where we could bond together as a family. I think it would have made all the difference in my childhood.
All that time spent in the Kingdom Hall/field service took away time we could have spent together, as a family, doing family stuff.
I know for many it ain't easy being the "unbeliever". It wasn't easy for my dad, which is why he took the route of least resistance when it came to letting his wife take us to the Kingdom Hall.
I love my daddy with all my heart, and I understand now why he let her do it. Sometimes though, I just wish to god that he hadn't.
Best of luck to you, whatever you decide.
Take it easy.

Why I am leaving JWD
by logansrun ini'm leaving this forum...at least temporarily.
as i mentioned in conversation over dinner at the chicago apostafest, my upcoming school schedule (which begins next week) combined with my workload will make it very difficult to be an active member on this forum.
perhaps i'll check in occassionaly when life is a little slower but for now i'd better distance myself from the on-line scene or else the other elements in my life will suffer.

Wishing you all the best. Good luck! :) Come back and say "Hi" to JWD when you get the chance.

Apostofest TRIBAL DANCE !!!
by frenchbabyface inok in hearing a song ... it just remind something very cool .... a few years ago tony his friends and i got really got crazy about a song from lord kossity ... "morenas" (it all about his particular voice and the flow) but actually we got used to dance the same way on it ... and one day that we were shoping getting all together (7) into "virgin" (on the champs elysees) the song began and we just couldn't hold it (without even notice we did the same thing as usual while singing loud) very fun (all with our long coats somehow we were looking like a band doing a show ... very funny when we realised we just kept going till the end of the first routine and stoped (i guess we didn't dare going further on it) ... and walking into virgin like nothing happen (lol) all of the sudden .
but that make me thinking about something ... why not chosing a song and learn the same routine so that when we meet me can just do it ... .
there are some song somehow made for that : like "follow the leader" .

The official apostate dance is performing the Can-Can to a disco beat... Who knew? It's obviously an idea whose time has come.

"We believe in good association," she said in 2001, "that is association with fellow Jehovah's Witnesses, not becoming too involved with people that don't have the same beliefs and same values that we do.
If any new rank-and-file recruits think they are going to be allowed the same freedoms that the Williams sisters (very gifted athletes/de facto JW spokespeople) enjoy, they're in for a very big letdown.

Don't know about which song we should "make our own", but my vote goes to making "The Smurf" the official apostate dance ;)
