Don't know. Figured it should be a manuscript, it maybe the GB get a pass. Can you post the link to the audio? Now I'm curious! What were the six you heard, Barrold? I know that the fifth, about child abusers, was buried under the "god cannot forgive me for the sin I committed"; he just spent a lot of time on child abusers. If the points were radically different through, I'd love to hear!

Gerrit Loesch was at our DC today!
by goatshapeddemon inso, unexpectedly, the final talk was announced today and to my surprise and evil glee, they announced gerrit loesch as the speaker!
first off, at the beginning of his talk, he interrupted himself in the middle of his sentence to scold the microphone brother to lower my mike it's right in my face.. anyway, it was the talk on inspired truth, vs. inspired falsehoods.
he went through 6 expressions inspired by the demons.

Invites, Parking and the DC - a true laughable story
by wizzstick ini'm in a major uk city, and we're assigned to an out of city location for our district convention.. to set the scene this site is off a busy motorway (freeway).
it's a football (soccer) stadium.
there is nothing around aside from one petrol (gas) station which also has a tiny supermarket in it.

I'm looking around today (intermission right now). If anyone from the outside came to this drivel session, I'd eat my shoes.

I agree, it *is* a crime. My mother gets so mad about this she wants to outlaw them.

also, one thing I forgot to add in my original post, he said "we believe in education, but we believe in the highEST education, like what you can get at the Bible School for Christian Couples, higher education isn't enough for us"

Lois, take a look at my Gerrit Loesch thread. In there is today's blow-by-blow reasoning for why higher education is bad.
mostly, I agree with LDRnomo. It's a control thing. Once you learn how to think as an adult in college and you learn how real research papers are supposed to be written, citing your sources, etc, its hard not to question things. Especially if you take any course in philosophy, biology or religion. I on purpose didn't take biology because I didn't trust myself to not start believing in evolution (smart choice at the time as I still pioneered and lived at home and now that I've been out awhile, I don't see how evolution couldn't be true).
plus, you're exposed to such a diverse range of great, like-minded people, it becomes ever harder to accept that god will destroy anyone who's not a JW.

Soso, i PM'd you. Really small convention compared to the ones I went to as a kid. They closed the whole upper section, which sucks because we had been planning to sit up at the very top and eat, drink, post comments on JW-net, talk, text, nap etc. Instead, we had to look like we were some semblance of paying attention. Though I will admit, I didn't look up a single scripture, checked my work email throughout the day, texted some, and yes, took a small nap until I did the head-nod (which my sweet husband discreetly caught).
Lol, my husband was loudly critical about some things, and this morning on the way into the convention, there was a dude handing out Jesus pamphlets. My husband went over, took a tract, and said very loudly in plain earshot to the JWs around "you're doing a good thing, man!"

Couple other interesting DC tidbits...
by goatshapeddemon in1) they're going to stop producing the wt publications index "because its hard to maintain and translate".
so they're going to create a digital-only research tool on jw.org .
it's like, how convenient and smart.

1) they're going to stop producing the WT publications index "because its hard to maintain and translate". So they're going to create a digital-only research tool on JW.org . It's like, how convenient and smart. They can now conveniently remove all the old light as soon as it is superseded with new light and they can get just "lose" all reference to the old, inconveniently damning articles from before 1994 (like hat tipping is from the devil and chess is a war-game and all that tripe). Ministry of Truth, anyone?
2) they told people in the morning announcements to bring your lunch from home so as to not to leave the convention site and thus avoid supporting the worldy outside vendors
3) today's "new releases" we're actually five old re-releases of tracts entitled "who really controls the world", "will this world survive", "the secret to family happiness" and two other very familiar sounding titles. Endless to say we didn't bother standing in the new release lines this afternoon. I'll post more details and the official titles tomorrow
and as I mentioned in the Gerrit Loesch thread:
4) there was a future-state drama about a modern-day Job meeting the real Job and swapping stories. The modern day Job's daughter was killed with his FiL in a car wreck. And they made out "worldly" people to be mean-spirited false comforters who told them their calamity was god's way of punishing them for being part of a "sect" (haha, they didn't say cult) and his boss said that to recover from the calamity, he should forget about god and throw himself into work (he is fired soon after). And in the end, because they were faithful, everyone shows up resurrected in the paradise.
5) there was a skit about an aunt (sounded Hispanic) who wanted her niece to go work in another country because she could make "5 times more money raising other people's kids" than they could in their current country. The husband was inclined to listen, but the neice was concerned about leaving her kids with her husband to work overseas, especially if she was going to be raising other people's kidsmwhen they didnt really need the money. an elder finally came by to say that he had worked overseas and regretted it terribly - he came back to a significant paycut, but it was spiritually worth it. It was so bizarre and random that all we could figure was that it was their way of telling immigrants to go back to their home countries.
6) also, one thing I forgot to add in my Gerrit Loesch post, he said "we believe in education, but we believe in the highEST education, like what you can get at the Bible School for Christian Couples, higher education isn't enough for us"

I'm sure it's not the oonly talk he'll give either at the convention. I'm promise we'll listen with rapt attention unlike the other parts. Hubby and I went with my in-laws to show support. They're on their way out, but they're trying to build up ammo once it all hits the fan with their other kids. We went to a place where no one would any of us... Just lucked out with the Gerrit appearance.

I will do my best. They used a really old MP3 player and we had a problem getting it to playback, but I can understand how important this is to everyone.
