i was really hoping to get the job because i wanted to get back to work in the fashion industry and frankly i needed the income.
it didn't pan out, they said that my skill set didn't quite meet what they required for the job.

by Blasty inalright, so i'm reading on this site, and i'm not 100% sure what it's about.
it appears to be a bunch of former jw people bashing everything they can get their hands on in relation to jw's.. .
i was brought up as a jw, but when i got older and started to think for myself, i began to realize that i didn't agree with their teachings.

Welcome Blasty. I personally hate the term bashing...since as a JW all we ever DID was "bash" virtually EVERY other religion out there saying that they were all under Satan except us. And...not one positive thing was ever said in any article in any watchtower publication ever about anybody elses faith out there...so I suppose you could say we learned "bashing" from the experts, the WTS. All of us were hurt one way or the other by this cult and this forum has allowed us all to vent our sorrows, our rages, our freedom, our doubts, our family problems without retribution and sanctions by some cult.
I feel sorry for anyone who left the organization before the internet...they must have felt SO alone out there. I hope they find us!

I was just off a bad divorce from an abusive man who kept me separated from friends and family to isolate me...so in my efforts to find new people to fill my life I ran into a JW in a club...we were sleeping together and "studying" LOL! And I had something to do every weekend with a ton of people with all this stuff in common. So becoming one seemed like a small thing to keep my new social life.
I was desperate and naive. I think that maybe there are a lot of singles, a lot of divorcees, a lot of single parents, and lonely people who come into the organization for the same reasons I did.
I wouldnt change it though...I have the most amazing three kids that I got because of the choices I made 24 years ago, and wouldnt change ANY of it if it meant I wouldnt have them. :)

When, if ever, did you start caring about POLITICS?
by Open mind ini've said a few times on here that i'm 99% mentally free of jwism, or something similar.
but i think i may need to back that number down just a bit.. i now believe that this world is all we've got and that,collectively, it matters what we as a species do on this orb if we want to continue to spread our dna indefinitely.
(some would argue that human extinction would be a good thing, but i'm not in that camp.

Last and only time I ever voted was in 1972 and for NIXON. Gave it up after that LOL! But then was a JW from 84-97. I was mildly interested in the presidential race because I live in Florida and so the whole hoo ha here with the hanging chads and shit and us being responsible for putting this IDIOT into office peeked my interest. but THIS election...Im very interested in. This is history making! On so many levels! Im also putting a lot on the line for Obama to pull us out of this economic mess. I think McCain will be more of the same....no MO!!!

When I was in the JWs I lived in the Chicago NW suburbs and we used to go to places like South Barrington and Inverness where the houses were huge and expensive and two blocks apart...and we would sneer at THOSE people and make fun of them having material things but "no hope" and how much HAPPIER we were because we had Jehovah in our pockets and were going to live in those big fancy EMPTY houses after Jehovah killed all those nasty rich people at Armageddon.
Its disgusting. Im ashamed I ever thought like that.
The other thing is...I dont recall anyone making fun of Michael Jacksons riches, or Prince or the Williams Sisters and their BIG BUCKS. All I ever heard was bragging that they had celebrities in the Borg. Like if Michael Jackson believed it it would bring all HIS followers in WITH him. NOT!!
