  Is it the JW's or the God of the bible you no longer believe?

  i have a question for the ex-jw's on this forum after months of reading the forum..... many say how good it is to be free of the oppressiveness of the jw's that they can now enjoy the freedom to... have sex, celebrate christmas, gamble, embrace politics etc.

  there are still biblical scriptures and principles in place that if you still followed the bible would mean you avoid these things and yet these are now embraced as one of the perks of no longer being a jw so in my confusion i ask.... if these are what you want, isn't it more correct to say you no longer follow the bible as apposed to just the jw's?.

  Can you please show me and Mary and the others who have asked you again and again, where exactly the Bible forbids the observance of Christmas.

  Renaii replies......"can you show me were it says we should practise it? If you have been an ex JW you'll know the info on why they don't as much I do, so I will ask you one question, Do you think jesus would approve of us celebrating christmas? "

  The Bible doesnt address everything everybody does LOLOL! Puhleeeze. It DOESNT say to have five hours of meetings a week, so why are JWs doing that? It DOESNT say that there should be baby showers so why do JWs do that? It doesnt say people shouldnt use or SHOULD use cell phones or drive cars, or have fake fingernails...so why do JWs do THAT? How many times have the JWs said that the Bible INFERS things? That you have to go combine scriptures to CREATE what it means? That the true meaning is HIDDEN or only understood by SPIRITUAL people or is a matter of FAITH because it only implies but doesnt say directly....dogma the JWs CREATED?

  Where does the Bible say that blood can and should be broken DOWN into PARTS and that those individual PARTS can be broken down and some of those PARTS are acceptable and some of those PARTS are evil and combinations of those parts may or may not be evil? WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT??

  The Bible DOES talk about people celebrating birthdays! And if it was EVIL why would God who supposedly WROTE IT ...allow that to happen without SPECIFICALLY saying that even though JOB AND HIS WHOLE FAMILY celebrated birthdays...and even though GOD LOVED JOB...that oh by the way dont do what Job did dear reader and SIN BY CELEBRATING YOUR OWN BIRTHDAY OR I, GOD, WILL HATE YOU.

  typical JW thinking....circular, red herring, pointless, and with a caveat attached to every single thing. Every time the JWs say anything, they allow for the loophole..."new light"

  So what kind of hypocrite stays clear of the hall when things are going well and goes running BACK when things get sticky?? Does he actually believe that being in that steel and concrete building convinces "Jehovah" of his genuineness? That he isnt a fox hole christian like everybody else? That kind of behavior is actually probably repeated all over the world in all religions right now...people praying for the economy to straighten out.

  Didnt we also see this RUN TO THE HALLLLLL!!! shit happening after 9/11?

  The good news is...if I may steal that lame phraseology....is that when the end DOESNT COME again, even more people whose hopes of world demise have once again been crushed, will leave the Borg.

  How many times do they have to get their hopes up? How many times can a person TAKE this up and down up and down crap? Its like Jonah under the gourd tree with them...

  "God...I didnt WANT to be a prophet but you MADE me be a prophet and I went and made a damn fool out of myself preaching to all these people in Ninevah telling them to repent or you were gonna go destroy them. And now what...you didnt destroy them and I look even MORE like a damn fool!"

  So why wouldnt the Witnesses instead say look...our preaching work has forestalled Jehovahs destruction of the earth! Its a WONDERFUL thing! Lets continue to preach! But nooooooooo...they sit under their gourd trees pissing and moaning because they WANT to see the world end. They ENJOY destruction, death, mahem, earthquakes, wars, starvation...it builds them UP!

  Dont these idiots know yet that when it goes it takes THEM TOO? Have they not learned from the Depression? Or either World War? Or 1975? Or the Black Plague that shit happens in history and life goes ON? Are they going to start the frenzied call again to neglect their health? To run up credit because they wont have to repay it? Why if the end is near are the Brothers in Crooklyn still making plans for things years and years and YEARS from now? Like the sale of real estate in New York?

  The Witnesses themselves said that if a person were to "follow just the Bible" they would be lead right back into darkness...but to read the WATCHTOWER exclusively would keep them in the light!

  So...even if a JW stops reading his bible altogether and starts following the Watchtower literature doctrine, he is still not following bible principles according to you because he no longer reads his bible

  So the JWs say...WE follow the BIBLE! But by the way...you shouldnt follow what the bible says because it will lead you to evil?

  Thats a lose lose now aint it. Such a quandry.

  Life begins at conception?

  i've been enjoying questioning long held beliefs lately.

  one issue i've been pondering is the life of the unborn.

  this has been brought on by a couple of things.. sam harris in end of faith and letter to a christian nation discusses the moral implications of stem cell research and this has been discussed in the media lately too.

  This has never been a question to me...because it has always been crystal clear to me that at the moment of conception, that two celled creation is going to grow into a human being. That acorn will become an oak. That corn seed, when you plant it you expect to get a corn plant from. There is no question about what it is in seed form is what it will ultimately become. That would beg the question then is a child less worthy to live than an adult just by virtue of the fact that it is still young?

  Just because it is not breathing on its own, or living outside of the mother, doesnt make an embrio any less a human being at one week than it does at 41 weeks.

  A person who has lived a full life and had a spinal injury, and who is now kept alive by a respirator and not "breathing on his own" is as much a human being now as he was before the accident.

  Im sure that the Creator, who Created the entire process of procreation, never thinks that that newly fertilized egg is not one of his babies.

  Ive told my daughter so many times in her life (though she has chosen to be celebate) that if she ever were to become pregnant that abortion was NOT an option and that I would take the baby if she couldnt handle it but at no time would destroying that life be an option. My best friend in high school got pregnant in college, had an abortion in 1972 and never could get pregnant again. She regrets that decision every day of her life and thinks all the time about what age that child would be now.

  How will the Watchtower help its members during hard economic times?

  it's good to see many, many churches dipping into their funds to help the needy, the homeless and providing food and shelter for those who need it.. what can be said of "god's organization"?.

  what do they do to help people in these tough economic times?.

  will they help you with food?

  They help each other EXCLUSIVELY when it comes to things "GOD" caused...like floods or hurricanes...but apparently anything that is caused by men like economic depressions and recessions...the friends are on their own. Theres no "photo op" in helping people in their own congregations get food for the week. They need to roll a convoy of 18 wheelers into a stricken area with WATCHTOWER BIBLE AND TRACT SOCIETY RELIEF written in eight foot letters on the side.

  I say they should have one meeting a week on Sundays 12:30-3:30. Field service on Sunday mornings before that meeting, 9-12 with half an hour to have some lunch. Saves on gas and emissions and time.

  They should have a streaming video available of the meetings online for all infirmed or elderly or sick ones so they can see the meetings from home if they have a computer, or...have a call in teleconference number to call to listen in to the meetings. Readily available nowadays.

  They should post PDF versions of their magazines online instead of printing them and distributing them uselessly every month wasting paper, ink, man power, shipping, gas, emissions and lots of other things. If the magazines can be distributed in field service, they can certainly be available online with a password.

  They should have conventions in the kingdom halls and have a big screen in there to watch the convention as broadcast from Bethel so no one has to travel or pay for hotels...they can get up and move around without being yelled at and use more than two paper towels if they want to. They can put the babies down for a nap and put their feet up and listen in peace.

  you get nothing more from going than you would if you read a publication in the comfort of your home.

  Ive been to boring classes in school and boring meetings at work occasionally... but three days a week, five hours a week, week after week, year after year of the same boring things being "discussed" in a stuffy Kingdom Hall where everybody is putting on aires, with everything militantly timed down to the minute, sometimes seconds, with bored speakers reciting the same boring outlines with absolutely no personal thoughts or entertainment value allowed...where people keep TRACK of whether you are there or not and give you shit if you arent...or shun you for not being spiritual enough if you dont comment, or underline or sit there like a statue during all of that...or beat your kids into sitting there and listening to ADULT topics five hours a week...

  thats a whooooole different ballgame than any church I have ever been to...EVER.

  I went to many Witnesses Now For Jesus "conventions" and realized the factor that was missing in ALL the JW meetings...was JOY!

  At WNFJ we talked, we sang, we had folks playing instruments, we raised our voices and clapped and cried and held our hands up to the Lord, we took communion and laughed and shared and had fun being with each other. We wore comfortable clothes, we walked around when we wanted to...we attended whatever talks we WANTED to during the weekend. NOBODY told us when to sit when to stand when to speak when to come when to go when to do ANYTHING there...and I realized what a total waste of 13 years of my life being a JW had been.

  Freedom to praise the Lord like they did in the Bible? priceless

  Ok...so if someone is bored not being a JW any more...and that life was so thrill filled it begs the question...why dont they go back and be entertained again?

  How would you guys like the job of having to write those mamby pamby articles week after fricking week year after year rehashing, rephrasing the same old shit every single time with NOTHING NEW to add to the mix? And NOT being paid for the privledge either?

  I wonder if that CHANNEL can be gotten with Satellite? Have they always NOT believed in there being a soul or was that a post Russell develpment along with the evils of Christmas and Birthdays?
