ALERT FRON BETHEL (this may be it)

a prominent bethel elder shared this information with another elder: there are some bethel workers who have been invited to leave bethel, but are refusing to do so and are taking the society to court while still residing in brooklyn.

if this is true, this could be the reason behind the sale of brooklyn property.

The WTS has money...they can keep any lawsuit at bay for centuries. Even if these people win anything they wont collect a dime. I dont know the legalities but if a company closes, and sells their property wouldnt the people there have to move? Or is there a grandfathering clause in New York that allows existing tenants to stay in a building even if it is sold to someone else if the purpose of the building remains the same i.e. apartments?

No matter how you cut this, once again the Society is showing their blatant disregard for the humanity of those who have indeed been SLAVES to their publishing empire. Use them, abuse them and toss them to the streets. Thats the way people are treated all the way down the ladder right down to the congregation level where people are cast aside and shunned the rest of their lives even after being pioneers and elders simply because they dont believe in the mindless truthless crap being shoved down their throats by the Watchtower any more.

They make me sick.

after my last post where i asked for advice on how to handle whether i should tell an elder that we've been going to church, i decided to tell a local elder who's related to me through marriage.

this was to save my dad having to 'report' me (i'd told my dad we go to church).

anyway, i had an interesting chat with him and he said some very personally revealing things re.

When they get there offer to pray with them and just start praying. If they run like your head is spinning 360 degrees and you are spewing pea soup then you know they have already proferred their decision on you and you need not waste your time trying to cast your Christian pearls before the swine.

As JWs we are taught to NOT listen to what people say at the doors about what they believe or their arguments for their own churches or their views or their Bible...we shut it all out and think instead about what invaluable nugget we are going to throw back at them as soon as they inhale and allow us to speak. They wont be listening to a word you say. They will be deciding already they are late for the door and will have dismissed you as so much refuse, crossing your name off their ranks before they even get back to the car.

All this political CONTROL FREAK crap they pull on their members...just a reminder to all of us how UNCHRISTIAN they really are. And how PHARISAIC they REALLY are.

i remember when i first left i wanted to tell every one i knew how bad/wrong/indoctrinated the jws were.

i was angry at having been deceived for so many years.

now they are just like every other religion if you get to the core of it.

I used to be rabid about it...fresh out because they had treated me, and even my JW family members treated me, like shyte on their shoes and were elitist and accusatory and slanderous and self righteous about it. But over time Ive backed off, as opposed to DOWN, about talking about them. I will never be rid of them because Im married to them. But when asked...I definitely answer with all barrels.

Scientology and JWism

i have decided that neither of the above was ever meant to be a religion.

im thinking that in the case of scientology it started out being a way of bettering yourself as a person and turned into a cult following and then a religion (despite tom cruise's protestations to the contrary) and that the bible students cum jehovahs witnesses was meant to become the new world order enveloping all religions including jews and was meant to embrace and include all people no matter what beliefs they had...under rutherford.

(based on things like their allegiance with hitler and the book 30 years a watchtower slave).

What do you guys think? Is this a religion? Or is this just a publishing empire that morphed into a cult following?

What is the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to you at a meeting?

mine was the time i had my twin grandsons with me and i was sitting in the overflow room.

they both needed to go potty at the same time.

so i tried to pick both of them up.

Oh....yeah...also when I was still just studying but basically doing everything a baptized JW should be for over a year and practically LIVED at the hall, I had a following of little kids. Not sure why, I was single and I loved kids and so had about 10 kids 5-10 years old who followed me like the pied piper. So...me being a creative type thought it would be fun for the kids and would help them learn their Watchtower Lesson if I designed a word search puzzle based on the magazine or based on the article for that week. I would hand them out the week before the study and in order to fill it in they had to search the articles and find the answers to questions in the paragraphs! And their prizes would be little things I got from like the dollar store. The kids LOVED it and damned if they didnt do those puzzles every week and hand them in to me all proud and everything waiting anxiously for me to "grade" them. Of course they ALL got prizes every week but it was so much fun to see the joy in their faces. Wouldnt it make you happy as a JW mom to see your kid happily reading his WT?

Well...one day the PO comes up to me and says that since I was passing out "non Watchtower authorized publications" in the hall I had to stop immediately. "After all", he said straight faced, " you arent baptized, how do we know you arent promoting your own religion and making followers after yourself with these works?" They didnt explain that to the KIDS of course and I had to. They were as devastated as I was. WORKS??? Shit.... and I STILL got baptized. How fucking desperate was I? Very.

Well ONE of those I wasnt even a JW yet but was just starting to hang with them as "friends". They were hosting the pioneer school at our hall and it was apparently a big deal but what did I know...and so all my new "friends" were running around making preparations and getting supplies to feed these folks. I was asked if I would get paper goods, plates, plastic ware, cups, napkins...so I said sure no problem.

When I brought the stuff to the hall, I brought the receipt to one of my pioneer "friends" and asked..."Who do I submit this to for my refund?"

He looked at me...looked at the receipt...and had a very wry smile and said "Refunds? Oh, we dont give refunds. Of course you did that for Jehovah didnt you?" I was mortified.

Also, when I first filled out my service forms, nobody showed me how to do it, so I filled out a line for every day that I went out on it and so had a long list of days, dates, times and what I placed and stuff. When I handed the stapled cards to the Service Overseer...he looked at what I did, said "We dont do it this way! Do it over!" and RIPPED THEM UP in front of me and threw them away!!

NOT an auspicious beginning y'all.

Warm hugs to Marilyn and her hubbie! I remember hearing about -1800-WHY-1914 when I first came out in 97 and thought what a great idea that was and I also wondered how many people had the courage to call it :) What wonderful selfless people.

Other ways the Society discourages college

as my daughter prepares for college, i'm discovering other subtle ways the society discourages college... beyond the "don't go" messages.. as students apply for college and scholarships, the schools like to see:.

volunteer time with community involvementleadership activities by involvement in school clubs and civic organizationsjob experience sports involvement in all of these areas, my daughters are facing handicaps.

for each of the above, the society discourages witness involvement:.

My JW sister in law and her JW husband have been raising their FIVE kids as JWs and at least two of them are at this time baptized. They have been home schooled. They have both always done JWish jobs like Mary Kay and car detailing. None of the kids have ever even seen a dentist. The second childs teeth at 18 are so bad he wont smile....ever. They have filed bankruptcy TWICE already and their house has been on the verge of foreclosure several times. The oldest kid is now 21 years old. He is socially very backwards and food has become his friend. He is at least 6'6" and must weight at least 350. He is working with his father doing car detailing and when he isnt doing that he is eating or playing video games. He and my 20 year old son, his cousin, used to be good friends but I got out when my son was 9 and my son was in public schools and involved in baseball and basketball as he grew up and once the cousin got baptized...he moved away from my son and told him he was "bad association". geeeez. The second son is 18 now and is an INCREDIBLY talented artist. And yet he is sitting at home and also in "the family business". This year because money became desperate...mom finally got a job outside the house, dumped the Mary Kay thing and put her remaining three kids in public school. Can you imagine how those kids are struggling with that completely foreign atmosphere? It just breaks my heart.... But they shun me and they shun their own mother/grandmother because we are "evil"?

The kids dont aspire to do anything when they grow up...what is there to aspire to when you are so stuck and so pushed down your whole life?

on september 1, 2008 me and my wife (who posts here as 'amber rose') had a baby boy.
