By the way...the more we came to hate the meetings the more inventive we get eh? :) When I was pregnant with my third child in 1995, I used my "evening sickness" as an excuse not to go. And I had the Book Study at MY HOUSE and STILL didnt go!! LOLOL! I would take the baby monitor I had and put one end of it in the living room and the other one in my bedroom and listen to the study...sort of LOL! Id have a miraculous recovery in time to join them for coffee and snacks tho LOL! When I was at the HALL I would go spend most of it in the mothers room, nursing my baby. My my what a hungry little whipper snapper :)

Venting about new BS arrangement
by Nosferatu inwhen i was a teenager (especially when i wanted out of the org) i made up excuses to miss the meetings.
i always made sure i brought home lots of notebooks, textbooks, etc so it looked like i had a load of homework to do on meeting nights.
i sat on my bed doing my homework (or writing in my journal) just to get out of another night at the meeting (this didn't work on sunday).

Just think what those people who dragged their a$$es to assemblies that lasted all DAY for 8-9 DAYS felt like when they had lost their jobs because of the assembly...or worse....and then found out the Borg dropped the Dist Ass to 4 then three days?

If a JW girl falls pregnant to a 'worldly person'...before marriage??
by Lantana ini've had many encounters with jw's throughout the years and i've found them to be decent, caring people.
i've attending meetings, read a number of awake!
and watchtower publications and so on and so forth.. the book 'crisis of conscious' by ray franz was really eye-opening for me and served as a strong warning for those about to enter the organisation...its easy to fill in the blanks from there -- i never became a jw.

There was a young couple....both RAISED JWs in those "good example" type families where Dad is an Elder and mom is a full time pioneer and the families each had one boy and one girl and the whole family went out in service together and did all the FAMILY parts....ugh. Two kids who KNEW BETTER than to do the dirty.
Anyway...the girl whose dad was a long time elder, not only was dating this JW boy which is a no no but managed to fit sex in between Bible studies and meetings and they got pregnant. Ohmygod the uproar and the gossipping about that ensued! The kids were NOT disfellowshipped. They were soundly privately reproved and since they were both JWs and "in love" it was agreed that at their earliest legal age they would marry. In the meantime, Elder Dad made quite the display of proper "disappointment" about his daughters condition and INSISTED that he "step down as Elder because he had failed to keep his house in order in Jehovahs eyes" and the Elder body and CO were not inclined to remove him from his position...but he left it anyway to make himself look oh so martyred.
We were INSTRUCTED not to have a baby shower for that baby though. It was a product of SIN you know. :)
Both kids were off reproval after a year and Dad was back on his Elder Throne again. And all was forgiven. They married, had the child. Life went on.
As for kids having sex with WORLDLY ones...this is RAMPANT. The kids will seek out worldly sex partners because the worldly ones wont NARC on them! They know this. The worldly sex partner is less inhibited and the JW doesnt have to put on any pretense with them. There was a guy who was raised a JW that in fact was the very first JW I met and he picked me up in a BAR no less...and it turned out he had bedded half the young girls and pioneers in a 5 state area. By his own admission, he considered himself an example of what NOT to be as a JW and was "sent by Jehovah to test them" geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez

Are they still strong arming people to sign over their estates to the Society?
Are they renting property or flipping property for profit? and in this econmy... THAT cant be working...?
Are they selling off unused, downsized kingdom halls?
Are they still doing the GIVE MORE TO THE CONTRIBUTION BOXES talks at assemblies and halls?
Do they actually collect any money back at all for literature placed?
Did they cut back on what they "pay" Bethel workers from $3.20 a month to $1.57?
Most of the new members are from POOR nations looking for relief from this system...they arent getting money there...and the Americans aint coughing it up.
So WHERE ARE THEY GETTING THEIR MONEY TO CONTINUE TO OPERATE? Any insiders know?

Older generation JW's are being sacrificed by the Society? Why?
by nicolaou inwhat has changed in the last few years?.
cheap paperback books.15 minute rule.reduced pioneer requirements.public/private watchtoweronly one pair of mags to public per month.doctrinal changes re 'generation', 1935 etcpublic talk cut to 30 minutes.and now the book study kicked into the long grass.this is an organisation that, since the big 1995 'generation change', is clearly slimming down and planning it's future srategy.
real estate is being sold and essential operations are being relocated to more cost efficient locations.

Announcement: They Clapped!
by metatron inweird.
after the letter was read, many clapped.
i don't know how to interpret that.. .
-
LovesDubs
It was because Jehoover was so kind to do this for them and thats the way it was presented...so when you appreciate something you clap like when they announce winners.....trust me...they were ALL winners no matter what "gas prices" spin they put on it. Spontaneous happiness that they had ONE LESS MEETING to haul their sorry butts too. But of course...nobody SAID that LOL!

What big changes made by the Borg bothered you when you were in?
by LovesDubs ini came in in 1984. at that time they were beating it into us not to have kids or go to college because the end was soooo near and the generation that saw 1918 was about all dead and we couldnt go much further.
they were touting the whole peace and security cry and then there was the peace and security convention in like 1985 that had us all abuzz after which of course nothing happened.
then they went and changed the definition of the generation in 1994 saying of course since armageddon didnt come after the 80 years had gone by that defined the old one that they basically had to go to plan b...or plan m by now, and that the generation was now everybody since 1918 who has or will live during the time of the end ad infinitum!!!

That my friends was the absolute end for me. I had been telling my children that WE WOULD NEVER DIE and now I had to tell them that we would live and die like everybody else does because jehoover is taking his sweet time bringing the end of the system! I was in TEARS!
- They changed the baptismal questions in 1985, the year I was baptized to make us vow to follow the Borg and not Jesus
- They stopped making food at the conventions, then stopped selling food at the conventions, then made us BRING our food to the conventions which in my opinion was a BIGGER hardship to the sheep than making it available to them was. Now young families had to tow baby supplies, books and bags, food coolers, drinks, strollers, blankets....gawd it was awful. :And somehow jam all that crap into the space you were sitting in at the convention which barely under normal conditions would accommodate your LEGS in front of you. :(
- They didnt charge for the magazines at the doors any more but told us to ask for a donation to the world wide work which was NOT so that more people could get the good news but so they could avoid paying TAXES on the sale of their literature and totally lied about it to us
- They changed their stand on blood to rediculously stupid nonsensical excuses for allowing PARTS of blood as long as it wasnt WHOLE blood and redefining different processes and surgical procedures ad nauseum until it was so damn confusing that nobody understood what they could or couldnt do any more where blood was concerned which caused in my opinion MORE deaths because people just said "if in doubt leave it out" and watched their loved ones die when they could possibly have HAD that surgery with blood expanders or with platelet treatments. And they have different standards for different countries depending on where you lived and what the political climate was in that country. We cant disfellowship you in your country for taking blood...fine consider yourself DISASSOCIATED.
- They condemned the United Nations and yet were a part of it all those years and were disfellowshipping people for such inane things as belonging to the YMCA.
What really rocked your JW world?

Predict How JWs Will Accept The New Announcement
by minimus inwill they be disturbed?.

There will be a different reaction directly proportional to the age and length of slavitude of the person reacting:
1) Old generations will see this as yet another sign of Jehovahs benevolence and kindness and His lightening of the load (and oh by the way didnt Jesus say his load was not heavy so why again is this being portrayed as relief from a load?) and they will see it as a tightening and circling of the wagons of Jehoovers Borganization, protecting his loyal integrity keepers in this time of the IMMINENT end...blah blah blah.... But Im sure "ones" who have no other social life outside their homes who only go to meetings to see and be with other people will be very sad about it. And Im sad for them too. We had a group of older women who stuck together like glue, sat together, sat in the same seats every week, loved to get all dressed up for the meetings...loved all of it...who will dearly miss their book study. Im sure they have all passed away by now but they were the most loving and genuine sisters I knew. I think it may even cause panic in some that this long running tradition has gone away.
2) The family men...the poor elders who have to spend every waking hour outside of trying desperately to support their families preparing for meetings or being at the hall for a meeting or to head field service or do shepherding calls, or away talks or visit ones in the hospital or constantly be on the phone counseling and encouraging and arranging...this will be a HUGE relief to them. I lived with an PO and his wife and we were dear friends, and it just never ever ended for him. There were not enough brothers to spread all that work around and he about drove himself into the ground trying to tend to everything that needed to be done to feed the great MAW of the organizations demands. The phone never stopped ringing and if he wasnt on the phone he was prepping for a meeting or doing research for a talk or we were looking stuff up in the bound volumes for him for the school. My heart goes out to all the genuine hard working brothers out there who were just trying to do the right thing and were losing their marriages and time spent with their kids. I hope this helps even in some small part.
3) Gen Xers - the younger crowd with no families yet who were basically forced into being a JW their whole lives and hate every minute of it will be ECSTATIC to have another night off! They will be spouting the company line about Jehovah providing for them at the hall and at the same time be going YES! Its lady's night at the Blue Martini on Thursday nights!! Yes!! I can finally GO! Or finally I can watch American Idol!
Change is good but at the same time it is very scary for JWs because they are such creatures of habit being honed into patterns of behavior like autistic children. To disturb their routines is to cause a butterfly affect in their lives.
Stay tuned!

My mom thinks she has a big secret that is known only to those at the hall.
by JWdaughter inso, she tells me today has some interesting news, but she can't tell me what it is.
eventually, she revealed that her news was from the hall, but said it is a secret and she really can't talk about it.
so, i say to her--you mean about how the bookstudy is changing and not on a different night anymore?

Inside herself tho when you blew her big secret she was going DAAAAAAAAMN!!! But she couldnt let you know that or it would have made her look weak and her Borg as full of holes as Swiss Cheese. But see because she doesnt talk to you about "spiritual matters" she doesnt ever have to tell you her "real secret" which doesnt exist so shes covered. :)
I told my husband who is still a Jw...as he was walking out the door on Saturday and it was like talking to a Charlie Brown character. All he heard from me was waaaa wa waaaa wa waaaaa. :)
But I said it. Its fun being in the drivers seat.

Anyone else called an apostate for knowing the new info early?
by bronzefist ini was called an apostate because i knew the "new arrangement" before it was announced.
this is so funny because this change directly affects how the local elders were screwing me over.
pm me if you're interested in details.. brzfst.

If asked how I knew I was going to say I got it from someone who is still inside the organization at the top level, but who has secretly disassociated and is acting covertly to aid the apostates. And that this person knows if they show themselves they will lose their family and friends and so have decided to stay inside acting as a double agent. Id throw in too that there are hundreds of thousands of such individuals infiltrating the organization and perhaps even their own elders are not to be trusted.
bwah hahahahahahahaaaaaa
