Religious PTSD
by Warren Wilson ini have been clear now for 22 years but i am still obsessed.
after going on and on about my experiences to friends and family i have finally realised that no one is interested.. they have won.
no one cares about my ptsd or my suicide attempts or my alcohosm.. i have no one to talk to about this but i really need to get the infection out of my system because it is killing me..

+1 for what wmeubyjh said, spot on, really good advice. Get the drugs sorted it really helps you get perspective on ones other life problems. I was a drinker a few years ago, even when I thought I as sober, I clearly wasn’t when I think about some of the things I did and said. Deprioritise the cult, work on the drink (having said that , there are so Many parallels between AA and jw , I find it quite funny). I am an alcoholic that doesn’t regularly drink, and it feels great, great that I know how to manage it now, not that it’s not a problem. AA brings you into contact with people who have learned to manage, not overcome.
importantly, it gives us perspective , you are not defined by the cult you joined, you have choices ..

another business idea for watchtower PLC
by stan livedeath inits been mentioned before---care homes.
in the uk there are a few ( no idea how many ) jireh care homes--loosely connected with the watchtower.. but take this on board.
the dubs are an ever aging customer base.. in the uk, lots of the ageing population end their years in privately run care homes.

I mentioned this on another thread a couple of hours ago. The HQ in Chelmsford could be converted into a care home. The Christadelphians have done this. In fact care homes seems to be their main charitable activity now.
why would you spend £95m on a site, then convert it to something that might make a couple of hundred grand a year if you are lucky, as a care home??
chelmsford will get sold in 5 years for c.£50m

Sorry guys, care homes in the UK are not a get rich quick scheme, private equity has made some money in the sector, but also got many fingers burned, there aren’t enough potential jw customers that can afford to top up the government allowances to make this an attractive segment to target. An operator may get to break even with some volunteer labour, that’s about it. As an investor, I know a bit about this sector.

Another School Shooting: The Gun Violence/Mental Illness Debate Continues
by jp1692 inin the aftermath of the valentine's day school shooting in florida, i have read quite a number of articles, blogs and posts about the event.
it is disturbing--and i think inexcusable--that many people take the opportunity to use horrible tragedies such as this to push their own particular agenda.. in particularly insensitive and tone-deaf tweet, conservative political commentator tomi lahren wrote: "can the left let the families grieve for even 24 hours before they push their anti-gun and anti-gunowner agenda?
my goodness.

Here in Europe , we have a really effective way of stopping mass shootings, to the extent that they are incredibly rare. We generally don’t allow people to own guns, It really cuts down on mass shootings, even those annoying isolated incidents that kill up at 10,000 or so in stranger countries. Even when we do allow people to be armed they seem to handle it better and seem more keen to make cuckoo clocks, chocolate, money and go skiing than kill people , such as in Switzerland. Maybe that’s the answer for the US, don’t allow people to buy guns, or start a cuckoo clock industry. Strangely the government still don’t seem until to rise up against the people here, despite our lack of guns.

Side effect of Downsizing......$$$
by Tech49 inso here is a tidbit you will all just love!.
we all are hearing of the trend right now to ¨downsize¨ the congregations...ie... eliminate by combining, in order to blah blah blah... .
here is what you didnt know: every time a congregation is dissolved, for whatever reason, including merging or dispersing, wt makes money!

Why would anyone who attends a meeting and donates think they own anything? People who contribute are just donors and those doing ministry, volunteers, like with other charities. If I donate to and volunteer for my local homeless shelter I have no right to think I own part of the homeless shelter.
Local congs (at least in the UK) have in their charitable objectives the furtherance of the worldwide work, so its perfectly reasonable for a local branch or a national branch to pass the money up the line if it can be better deployed elsewhere where there is a greater need
do people who donate to oxfam in Edinburgh think their donations should only be used in Edinburgh?

Pedophile on The Governing Body
by new boy inthe bottom line there is zero tolerance for any homosexual activity in jehovah’s holy organization.
so all known gays had been kicked out and disfellowshipped before i got to bethel and gays got kicked and disfellowshipped and disgraced when i was there.
sorry, i guess i meant most homosexuals were kicked out in disgrace.

@newboy could you provide any evidence for these allegations? They are pretty serious on many levels
