The difference, I think, Barb, is that one is the actual authorities bringing charages on a person. This is a person using the court to effectively charge the entire WTBS. This will be viewed as Satan's attack on the society, not a misdeed by one brother.

No one ever needs to apologize to me. If what they say is true, then I am not offended by the truth. If what they say is a lie, why I care what a liar says?
What will set me off if when people are willfully ignorant and refuse to learn, are so entrenched in ideas they will defend them to the point of absurdity, when they try to pass off ignorance as a virtue and willful ignorance as an honorable practice. I will try to help them, if they refuse to learn or even try after multiple attempts, then I simply start mocking them. Hopefully the mocking will save someone from listening. If I look like a dick in the process...hey, if it walks like a ducks and talks like a duck...
BTW, tec, I still haven't forgotten to get back to you on that other thread. Just been a busy day, have the kids this weekend, went to play ball, have dinner, got a ton of work to do, etc. I'll get on it probably tomorrow when I'm in the pub working and watching football.

Absolutely not. I tried being reasonable, still thinking decided to not only be willfully stupid but negative Nancy. She was forwarned. Making fun of someone for being willfully stupid after warning them you will is a sign of an evolved moral code. Attempts at education, then a warning of next action, then keeping my word.

For instance, from the stand point of theocratic rule, it could well be argued that each member of the Governing Body that has a criminal charge lodged against him is no longer “irreprehensible” or “free from accusation." As such he would no longer "have a fine testimony even from people on the outside."
And think about this: If the members of the Governing Body refuse to recognize these criminal charges as "valid” then they can not engage legal counsel to represent them nor appear in court to defend themselves as they run the very likely risk of validating the charges within the congregation.
Again, this does not follow. the GB, president of the WT, Rutherford, many have appeared in court, defended themselves and continued to served. This is a mixing of legal theological concepts to present a false blended concept.
this is a personal observation and certainly not representative of all atheists.
i enjoy discussions with folks of this persuasion; in general they appear well read and somewhat more educated than many believers.
as a group most atheists cringe and become insensed when discussing the existence of a deity with believers especially fundamentalists.
