OK. You told me.
Well... bye.
another topic in the friends section was about a convention talk titled "who are preaching the good news of the kingdom"?
it brought several thoughts to mind.. of course it is only jehovah's witnesses doing that because most everything they do is in disobedience to jesus.
yes, jesus did talk to the jews about the kingdom.
OK. You told me.

the ancient jewish cross by al garza phd is a groundbreaking book just published by createspace (isbn-13: 978-1461133896; april 27, 2011).. i'm about to order this book because it means a lot to me personally.
i was completely unaware of the history or meaning of ancient hebrew letter taw.
shaped like a cross and avoided by various jewish rabbi today due to its ties to jesus christ's death since his execution, taw is a pictorgraph used prior to babylonian captivity meaning "mark," "sign," "covenant," "seal," or more specifically, "sign, covenant, and seal of yhwh god" -- and fulfilled when jesus the messiah finalized the covenant on it through his blood so that we could have eternal life.. is the cross jewish or pagan?
In the ancient script it seems to bear a resemblance.
Fair enough. It also, at various points, looked like an x, an h and an n. I will rephrase, only at one very early period in history did it resemble a cross. It hadn't looked like a cross for thousands of years before Jesus, so the connection the author mentioned in the OP seems dubious at best.

The letter taw looked nothing like a cross....
two ladies came to my door asking for deaf people.
it was a wham-bam-thank-ya man type of approach, they seemed eager to get to the next door.. all i gathered from their presentation, if i were just a normal householder, was that they were from some sort of religious group (they did not give their name) and that they wanted me to freely give out names and phone numbers of the deaf friends i know.
i said i didn't know any deaf people and they were on their way.. i knew exactly what was happening, but for most people it would just be an odd break in their daily routine.
The best man at my wedding (who now shuns me) is part of the ASL congregation. I went to an ASL assembly, it was amazing how many more people were there that weren't JWs as compared to a hearing assembly and how they were proud of the fact they lured most of them there by simply claiming to be showing movies and having a convention for the deaf.
Lie much?
bit of background info..... we have a neighbour who is a complete psychopath, she has tried to get us evicted, turned neighbours against us, bad mouthed us to our visitors.. last year our dog who is a jack/staff and is very healthy started to go downhill.... lethergy, depression, vomiting bile, coughing.
we took her to the vets who ran loads of tests on organ failure, cancer etc and they all came back clear.
he repeatedly asked us if she could have eaten anything.
I encouraged him to call the police and let the neighbors know what had been happening. that is not underhanded.
It's interesting how you refute things I don't say and defend things I didn't point out.

All "concerned citizens" that call the cops when they want them to run plates don't think they're nutjobs.I am happy that your neighborhood is so safe. I would rather eat a bullet that live near such fear motivated busy bodies that have nothing better to do with their time than call the cops to make sure the people I have over are "the right sort". You know what? If I want to have my just got out of prison neighbor, my stripper friend and my weed smoking buddy over, live with it. Thank god we have the 4th Amendment to stop people like you from running the world.
And no, you didn't say he should investigate, you studiously avoided it while encouraging all other sorts of underhanded and devious behavior.

so...
1. Create a worthless paper trail with the police without doing any work get the information on your own, despite how appallingly easy it is
2. try to let everyone know what you think without actually saying it or doing an work to get the information on your own, despite how appallingly easy it is
3. Without knowing what's going on or doing any work to find out what IS going on, go stir up everyone's emotions and be sure to combine with NOT telling them what you think with a wink wink nudge nudge.
4. Call the cops every time a car drives by that you don't recognize.
Yeah, awesome plan there. That doesn't reek of crazy at all. It reeks of nutjob with a just a dash of lazines thrown in for flavor.
... he apparently has wanted to do so for a while now.
i agreed to meet with him this tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. edt.
he asked me to pick the chapter where i wanted to start.. hmmmmm... where shall i start?
Chapter 15, the one on true worship. Point out many other religions that do the same and when they point to JW's growth as proof, say you thought it would be a remnant. When he mentions the great crowd, point out that they were standing in heaven...
i started studying jw with a work friend because she used to keep me at arms length and i knew it was because of her religion.
she and her family are such lovely people so i thought maybe there was something to it, how bad can it be, etc.
i was enticed by this girls friendship as she has been spending more time with me but continues to say "you're not one of us yet" which continually freaks me out.
You pretty much nailed it.
Stumbling means doing anything that may mildly offend someone, based on their own warped view or thing the guys in charge in Brookly say are wrong, like a boy and girl that aren't at married holding hands in public.
The guys wandering around are doing anything to avoid the drivel from stage and pretending to be doing busy work, but it's busy work in the name of the Lord, so it's OK.
Mr. Overzealous was tell you two to quit talking, subtley isn't their strong point. Being a raging bowl full of dicks is.
The rule with JWs is the same as it was 500 years ago with the plague. Run far, run fast, never come back.

Danke, Shels. FWIW, I agree 100% with everything you wrote ;)
