May I ask . . . Are you sure of the real reason for her wanting to return? . . . is it really a sentimental desire for old friends?
It could be some thing else perhaps . . . maybe the recent natural disasters around the world? . . . or the political turmoil?
I just feel you need to be sure of her true motivation before you can sucessfully address it.
Maybe you can gently feel her out about it . . .
this seems to be a favorite topic to bring up to any witnesses who post on any website where there are any opposers, either here or topix or anywhere.. so, here is the one and only place i will be discussing it.
who can prove that witnesses are specifically told not to post on websites about them?.

My reply: Allowed by who? You are not allowed to post here by the WT. The moderator allows any to post, so long as they follow the forum guidelines....only the WT is so controlling as to not allow its members this freedom.
Maybe I could add this . . . Any active JW can come here and "hone their apostate-resisting skills"

Not what you'd call an avid fan though . . . but back in the bad good ol' days prior to my JW experience (early 80's), I used to smoke a bit of weed, put my headphones on inside my helmet and throw myself at the ground from 9000 feet while listening to it.

thanks to all who helped me escape my imminemt baptism after 6 years of study.
it was a close call.. ive clearly been labelled spirituallly weak, as nobody has called here to say hi or anything and its been 2 monthes now....their divine justice for me i guess.
i did see my study teacher a while back when she dropped off my memorial invite, and that was after a chat, nothing to do with the wbts...seemed like it was an afterthought on her part.. they all know about my problems with agoraphobia and panic.

i've observed some forum users here that claim to be active witnesses (even claims to be ministerial servants or elders) while duplicitously supporting apostates online.
my contention is this; why attend meetings and/or participate in the preaching activity when the second you divulge your apostate thinking into the congregation, you'll be disfellowshipped?
while this action taken may seem to be harsh, the outworking of events wouldn't be much different in one of christendom's churches.
Yeah to that Room 215 . . . 'Apostate' in JW world has a whole new meaning that bears little resemblance to the original. They've re-coined it for their own exclusive use
Few who leave that cult are true apostates . . . more like normal folks who eventually smell a rat and defect from it

Yes I did and thank you . . . I checked out the site but haven't registered yet . . . but I know I will . . . I'm a terrible procrastinator and still new to Forums . . . this is the first one I joined and my first post came after three days of hand-wringing. The experience has been so rewarding though . . . and only got better when you came along.

I love the way they quote a "neurologist" . . . like a brain specialist has more insight on philosophical questions like "the meaning of life" . . . so what! . . . it sounds better than "A qualified plumber once said . . . " . . . but is no more weighty IMO
My next door neighbour is 89 . . . she said to me recently . . . "I don't mind when I go . . . I've had a good and satisfying life" The truth is she's had her share of "troubles"
The issue to me is more about the failure of some to accept death . . . rather than the "meaning of life"
Just because we don't understand something doesn't make it unnacceptable . . . neither should it prevent us from finding meaning and satisfaction from life.
They are simply "fanning a flame" to prime the mind for their mind-bending fairy stories.

Hey Paula . . . I just read your post on your "phone phobia" . . . I used to hide in the closet whenever the phone rang . . . don't do it anymore but still never answer it myself . . . never thought about it much but didn't consider others might be similarly disposed. I laugh about it now . . . but it wasn't funny at the time.
Just nice to know I'm not alone on that one . . . I thought it was my own special brand of crazy!
