Zid . . . what is gratifying is that lessons have been learned.

Wellington, seen as our most quake prone city (and capital), is instituting strict new regulations to quake proof old buildings or demolish within 2 years . . . at owners expense. All buildings are going to be graded according to risk and the information posted on the front door to inform the public of the relative risk of entering. It's been criticised by some as knee-jerk, but is something I applaud loudly. Hopefully the rest of the country will follow suit . . . this is a shakey part of the world after all, and that's not going to change.

I guess a good many of us come to experience these things in a lifetime . . . I appreciate the empathy.

I've commented before; it is so ironic that many bustling towns and cities were established in dangerous zones in the 18th - 19th century, before humanity's knowledge of quake zones developed... . . . ziddina

Wow that's a bullseye here . . .

Much of the eastern city was built directly on drained swamp, including the CBD . . . no landfill even. Liquefaction was a major problem as was the unstable land. Many buildings were unreinforced masonry over 100 years old.

One of the sad facts for me . . . was that GNS Science's website warned of aftershocks of 6 or more (as many as 4) over the proceeding 12-24 months after the initial 7.1 rupture in Sept 2010. The people being listened to weren't saying the right things . . . and the people saying the right things weren't being listened to. Consequently the public were utilising unsafe conditions while being totally unaware. Sad, but the tragedy of 22/02/2011 was almost inevitable . . . and totally avoidable.

It's not a fake site . . . it's a hosting site. The court schedules accessed through that site are exactly the same as directly through the govt site. It announces court schedules not archives . . . hence anything prior to todays schedule will yeild no results.

If you go to court list menu . . . Gippsland . . . and click on criminal lists under Latrobe Valley . . . then click today's date . . . you will find the list of scheduled hearings . . . and they are the same as the govt site.

Hope this helps.

Perhaps I should explain . . .

The only facts I've learned from here are the ones I have been able to verify using other sources. Nevertheless, I am grateful to this site for raising the issues. I have observed however that a significant number don't do this, even though it is a relatively simple exercise. Some prefer to jump to conclusions based only on what is posted here . . . even when links etc are posted for their convenience. The threads on this particular issue have posted many links, repeatedly, for posters convenience, and yet the same blind scepticism or belief is promulgated leading me to believe that this occurs for one of two reasons.

1) They are lazy.

2) They prefer to argue.

Either reason will not put you in possession of facts.

cyberjesus . . . the host site is blacklisted ie; ozehosting.com. The linked information is genuine and sourced from the genuine site; magistratescourt.vic.gov.au. It is simply an indictment on the hosting site Scenic Viewer chose to access it.

Anybody who has kept up to date with the court listings as they appeared through the genuine site know this. The govt website is a public service to inform of court schedules in advance. Any who want to verify these things in hindsight once a case has been dismissed may well have missed out. The screen shot Scenic Viewer posted is genuine from memory, as I have accessed the govt site many times over many months and seen the same information. Court transcripts and records of certain hearings are not kept if the case is not admitted to trial. If you snooze you lose I guess . . . you may just have to live with your doubts.

Stevens suit was authentic, along with his actual bona-fide existence. Those who bothered to find out for themselves already know this . . . if you continue to doubt that I honestly don't care. My comment was facetious and obviously too subtle for you.

Like Mr Monroe commented earlier, I don't agree with Stevens approach on a number of levels, but I don't expect the world to live according to my personal prescription. The initial use of the illustration in question was ill-advised and an error of judgement in my opinion. I'm also cognizant of Stevens personal connection, history and circumstances to some degree, and therefore am also aware why he could make such an error.

Why "IF" . . . why don't you find out for yourself? That's been my beef with you all along . . . you admit your ignorance and then do nothing about it except post your uninformed negative opinions and expect everybody else to do your research for you . . . and then grizzle when they don't.

No scam . . . no apology. If anyone else has a beef with me they don't need you as their champion . . . or to form a delegation for your personal comfort.

Obviously this has upset you enough to stick in your craw for this long . . . maybe you could look inwardly for a change as I first prompted you to do and be honest with yourself . . . self-justification will only relieve your CD for so long.

this is a sugestion i have to all members of this board ,members from all over the world, to let the victorian government in australia know that the world is concerned about protecting the children of victoria ,and theirby setting a precedent for the rest of the world, who are interested in the outcome of the criminal charges against the religion of jehovah`s witnesses in refusing to abide by the legislation to get "working with children checks"when required to do so.correct me if i`m wrong but i think if all of us sent letters to the newspapers here in australia ,the different members of parliment here,we would demonstate that the victorian judicial system here is under scrutiny to do the right thing in the eyes of the world.. we all complain that the wtb&ts/jehovahs witnesses is a cult religion that sucks,destroying family relationships,here is a chance to do something about it.

whether you agree with steven unthank or not,here is an opportunity to stick up for the children of jehovah`s witnesses and every other child that a witness calls on in their door to door ministry.. what do you think ?.

Maybe if the motive and focus remains on a genuine desire to help others, especially vulnerable children, instead of "bringing down the WTS", which is often vindictive . . . maybe then things will happen just as you say.
