TQO . . . I think you are absolutely right. The WTS always have a legal escape hatch . . . and technically they are right. Quite clever really . . . how they can maintain that distance and retain such strict control.

Rick Fearon should apologise for accusing faders of being cowards
by cedars ini hate doing this type of thread.
none of us are perfect, least of all myself, and i would rather focus any criticism on the watch tower society for damaging people's lives.
however, in the short period since i've been a member of this forum i've noticed one member in particular deteriorate in his behaviour into the type of individual who threatens to undermine the credibility of the entire website.

Well that's nice Rick . . .
You wouldn't think you were "working together" with anyone the way you hurl insults and innuendo around. It doesn't distinguish you at all, and simply puts you alongside your most vehement of critics.
Maybe you could lighten up on that.

Chain of correspondence with Society regarding pedophilia
by cedars ini have been given permission by barbara anderson to relay some interesting correspondence related to the society's negiligent approach to child abuse.
it should be said at the outset that these letters are anonymous, and the only thing that can be said with certainty is that they are letters addressing the subject of child abuse that were likely sent some time between 1997 and 2004.. with names and dates having been removed, it is impossible to verify the events described in these letters, although if true, they betray a shocking arrogance and apathy on the part of the society.
they also describe pedophiles running virtually unchecked in certain congregations with little or no safeguards for their victims.

The re-opening of this thread is very appropriate . . . I believe recent threads have been a good learning exercise for those who wish to be educated by them, as the comments here reflect. That's important.
Any critique of the OP has been balanced and reasonable IMO . . . unsubstantiated claims are just that . . . labelling them questionable is fine without the need for wild speculation on the motives and state of mind of the author.
Thank you Lady Lee . . . this board is greatly benefitted by your reasonableness and input.

Our door to door activities were a personal ministry and not recognised as representatives or volunteers of the Watchtower Bible And Tract Society
by smiddy inhow do you feel about that ?were you misled (again) after all these years ?
this article from the newspaper in the latrobe area reffering to steven unthanks case is truly disturbing.
its an affront and an insult to any and everyone who has participated in the ministry of jehovah`s witnesses over many, many years.talk about being thrown to the wolves.how low can this organization go in saving face at the expense of those whose loyalty and devotion is discarded for a perceived image.absolutely shocking.

A farm full of animals has a fence around it . . . and the farmer manages the animals how he wishes to obtain the greatest profit. Aged or unsound unproductive animals are sold off or neglected. All of the animals can be sold or sacrificed without notice. Farming is a business . . . there's no room for sentimentality. The animals breed their own replacements, graze on what is provided, and obey without question. They do not represent the farm or the farmer.
The WTS is an animal farm.

The F&D slave doesn't exist . . . and nor do the publishers.
What the hell is left? . . . just a stain on the mattress where they used to be?
I wish . . .

Why should we hold other people responsible for what child sexual abusers do?
by Lady Lee ini have been thinking a lot about my cousin who was sexually abused in my mothers home.
i am still angry.
so i had to ask myself, why am i more angry at her than i am at him?

Tal you have unearthed the greatest wrong . . .
The WTS are trying to protect their reputation. LL's Mum is trying to protect her personal well-being. We have a case here of a girl's school understating and denying bullying to protect their reputation. All of it is self-interest . . . and the childs safety is secondary.
With knowledge comes responsibility. Any who contribute to a pedophiles ongoing abuse by remaining silent are WORSE IMO for this simple reason; The pedophile, as is statistically acknowledged, cannot control their behaviour. Others who are made aware of their behaviour CAN . . . and should. Even if it only means making the fact known, so that the unwary can take appropriate caution.

He was referring to the fact the case was unwinnable, given the Watchtower had in fact complied by that time. He meant that funds spent prosecuting the Watchtower would be wasted.
This is what it came down to and I think the judiciary is justified, unfortunately. These were criminal charges which meant they must be brought against individuals . . . not an incorporated society. Proving beyond doubt, that individuals knowingly and willingly refused to comply when they knew they should, would be stretching a very long bow . . . and a very expensive one, with little chance of winning.
In hindsight, it is easy to see that Steven Unthank achieved all that was possible. While the reporting of a dismissed case carries little interest . . . I wouldn't rule out some magazine-style Media treatment of it in the weeks to come. -

Steven Unthank is a true HERO
by Shawn10538 ini just got done listening to hsi interview on six screens.
if any of you have any doubt about his motives and the greatness of his heroic actions, listen to the entire interview.
it is more than 3 hours long and i believe he addresses many concerns some here have had.

Lady Lee . . . great post.
I get a bit gnarley when words like "fraud" and "hoax" get chucked around on a whim. Some may have noticed. I make no apologies.
I don't know how many times I've said this . . . ring him up and have a chat. He's in the book, as well as all over the net. If you're not prepared to make the slightest effort to verify something . . . then I question the ethics and motives of a decision to malign repeatedly, based on a personal hunch. You're simply an asshole . . . intentional or not.
We see heaps of people come hear with the heads in absolute turmoil at discovering their religion is a crock. For some time the adjustment is all they can manage, and mistakes are made aplenty. It's worth remembering that Steven was going through the same personal turmoil, and yet stood up to WTS on behalf of others . . . children. A carpenter.
Is Steven a hero? Damn right . . . the best kind IMO.
