For the past 12 months we have been non-stop lobbying every single Senator in Australia and also the Prime Minister to launch an Inquiry or Royal Commission into religions, especially the Jehovah's Witnesses and the Watch Tower Soci ety.
We even sent a Federal Member of Parliament to personally lobby Prime Minister Gillard for us.
We must also personally thank Senator Nick Xenophon, Senator Richard Di Natale, Senator Sue Boyce, Darren Chester MP (my local Federal Member) and Colleen Hartland MP (Victoria) - all of whom have assisted and listened to my concerns.
While we may not get the media coverage like the Catholic Church is, we are still there NEVER EVER giving up, but making sure the JW children have a voice and are not silenced.The reason I've posted it is to reassure folks that the JW's are very definitely under the spotlight . . . and among the key reasons for the broad range of the inquiry. Govt. representatives are well aware of WTS's flawed policies and institutional cover-ups. Thier day has well and truly come.
There is a strong focus on allowing the victims of abuse to have thier say and be heard, as a critical part of thier healing. The Catholic church, Anglican church, and several other smaller denominations have been quick to endorse the Inquiry and all have pledged support and openness to the process . . . .
Not a word from the WTB&TS. Just the eerie silence of the worried guilty.

A personality cult is usually identifiable with a single personality who exercises control over the group . . . so yes, Russell would fall into that category.
The personality invariably claims special status by divine providence or connection.
In the case of WTS, the label doesn't strictly apply . . . but the same status is claimed by the F&DS (GB), so in thier case, the difference is so subtle as to constitute a minor variation . . . and arguably, a more dangerous one.
All cults are dangerous because of the psychological damage that invariably follows . . . as well as the potential physical danger.

WTS has the prospect of doing the full 15 rounds with a Royal commission . . . a number of them might be finding it harder to sleep tonight.

My Grandfather is, and will always be my greatest and only hero . . .
He went to Europe as a 19 yr old and fought in Belgium at Passchendaele. Out of his artillery crew of 12 . . . only 2 of them came home. He became a train driver for the rest of his working life. From 10 years old he would take me to the range and taught me how to shoot.
He died in 1970 when I was 13 years old . . . and away at boarding school. My world was never the same.
He never had much because he was always "lending" his money to help someone else out. He was a kind and gentle man with a huge heart and a permanent broad smile which masked his pain.
The last thing he said to me was . . .
Sonny-jim . . . I hope you never see a war. But if you do and they ask you to go . . . be sure to tell them no.
He made me cross my heart and promise. My love for him has never died. He's the only hero I need.

Many years ago I attended one hall where a mid-aged student had MPD . . . she had been severely sexually abused by her father . . . awful stuff. My wife and I drew close to them for support . . . but it was tough going at times. Her husband was one of the most patient, gentle, and loving men I've ever met. A real man, who could carry a heavy load in silence.
She had 11 identifiable personalities both male and female . . . one, (I kid you not) was a dog. Such was the depravity. At times she would whine and whimper. It was one of the saddest manifestations of psychological damage I've seen. She suffered horrible seizures as well. Very extreme case.
Occasionally, meetings would be interupted as she would call down evil on some poor Elder or MS for misrepresenting her Lord. The alter on these occasions, was an evangelical preacher (male). She (he) would quote scriptures the rest of us had hardly ever heard of and explain them "according to the explanation she had been given" . . . some of it was very sophisticated and involved. She had a few scratching thier heads about where all this was coming from . . . but she had a forceful and lengthy answer for everything. She told me her 'alters' frequently argued and fought with each other in her head.
Several years of intensive therapy actually worked . . . ALL of the alters disappeared, and her authentic personality began to emerge. She still knew her Bible inside out and backwards . . . but gently accepted "the truth"
A milder case with just one 'alter' involved . . . could manifest itself with much more subtlety, and remain undiagnosed.
