Are you an "apostate"?
by cedars ini'm quite new to this site, and i've noticed that many of you are more than happy to call yourselves "apostates", even though many of you evidently believe in the bible and in jesus as saviour, etc.. i'm aware that the society brands anyone who disagrees with them as being an "apostate", but just because they choose to do this, does this mean we should be comfortable with being so branded?
should we "bend over" and take it?.

by fade_away ini heard some analysts on the news recently saying that at the rate the us is falling and china rising, it is expected that china will be the super power within the next 30 or 40 years.
if that happens then i guess there will be another mass exodus of jws from the wt despite what new light they come up with.
but if the witlesses are right then that means god must intervene and the great tribulation and armageddon is coming in less than 30 or 40 years.

I kinda like the idea of being evil like the Devil.
It actually feels good to be feared. Haha! But I'm agnostic. I'm in a limbo where some parts of the Bible make sense but most of it doesn't, so the jw concept of good and evil is lost in me. I like to be "evil" from a jw point of view. Not evil from a moral point of view. (for example, I wouldn't kill and/or rape anyone) The WT idea of an Apostate is someone who goes against the WT. If that's the case then yes....I'm a proud Apostate.

Any Tourettes syndrome in your congregation?

i knew someone with a schizophrenic disorder and he would occasionally forget/refuse to take his pills which made for some very embarassing moments at the meetings and on service.
he would come to our house claiming he is jesus christ in the flesh and would get upset with anyone that didn't believe him.

A huge number of JWs have mental illnesses. I knew someone with a schizophrenic disorder and he would occasionally forget/refuse to take his pills which made for some very embarassing moments at the meetings and on service. He would come to our house claiming he is Jesus Christ in the flesh and would get upset with anyone that didn't believe him. So we were all like "okay Jesus, just relax and we'll take you back home". He would say things like that to people at the door, which makes an already crazy cult look even crazier. Once a brother made a comment on the watchtower magazine study and made it to sound like an epic speech, and the schizophrenic started applauding all by himself afterwards. It turned a lot of heads.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has ever known someone with a tourettes syndrome that made him/her blurt out obscene words during the meetings. How uncomfortable would the whole congregation be! They can't discriminate, so I guess they have to accept the person even when he forgets to take his medication and starts screaming cuss words during a prayer. Imagine saying "Godamn God is an asshole!" after someone opens the door on service.

Nice Zid. I always thought of all that even as a child studying the Book of Bible Stories. A child can see the idiocy in it all yet the adult that is teaching it can't. :/

haha, I know I know. I was wondering in a hypothetical situation. Step into a dimension where things play out as they say. I know it's impossible for some people here to imagine and the thought of it can cause a headache because the concept doesn't compute. I've asked this question before but people usually say "you lost me at the 'playing out as they say' part".

That is only if the JWs and the analysts are both right. Question of wether or not the JWs are right has been answered for a lot of people, but I guess this will be a final nail on the coffin. Well, maybe not the final one. Followers will rise again in time and the whole thing starts all over, but I'm eager to see what happens within my lifetime. If China becomes a super power, I'll just chuckle and move on. If I see the Great Tribulation unfold instead, I guess I'll just pull out a chair, crack open a beer and wait on Jehovah...to supposedly kill me.
