I know this sounds like a stupid question. We haven't attended a meeting in almost a year. About 5 months ago they sent us a registered letter saying they wanted to meet with my husband and I and discuss charges of apostasy. I called them and said the date they picked wasn't good for us. We then mailed them a legal like letter saying we refuted the charges of apostacy and that we just wanted to be left alone. We said if they made any public annoucements they would hear from our attorney and charge them with defamation of character. So they have not contacted us, but we live in a small town and do run into people. Everyone I've run into will not talk to me if I say Hi they just turn away. This makes me think they df'd us or da'd us. Can they do that without telling you? My dad lives around 20 miles away and he says that noone has said anything to him. He is in our circuit. How can I find out? I don't want to call them because that might stir things up and they have left us alone. I just want to know because if I do run into certain individuals I don't want to make them feel uncomfortable by saying Hi when they can't say Hi back and I don't want to be rude and not say Hi.

90% wrong 10% right. Study the bible not publications and don't use their bible, it has to be the one of the worst translations ever made. The more you do this the more you will see how wrong they are. In fact as far as doctrine goes I'm not sure they have anything right

You will find no scriptures that says christians are looking forward to an eartly resurrection. Because there are none. The society is very wrong.

A question for those of you who were raised in the cult
by siegswife inwhen i was a jw, i often found myself wishing that i would have been a jw from birth.
that way i would've avoided many of the mistakes i'd made in my teenage years.
now, after reading so many of your stories i've realized that many of you didn't really believe it when you were young.

I also became a witness as an adult. I think I had a weak moment in my life and it lasted around 15 years. OK, I'm a slow learner!

The end will come, but not as the Watchtower teaches. If you read the bible you won't be in fear of it but look forward to it. Jesus Christ is coming again and all those who believe in him have nothing to fear!

I'm not sure how anyone can go back. I do know if you go back it will never be like when you were there at first. It's like if you move away and you have all your friends, a few years go by and you go back to visit. Your so excited because your going back to be with them and when you get there you realize it is not the same. You've changed, grown, etc and they are the same. You don't fit in like you use to. Get involved in some activities that you enjoy, you'll find new friends. If you are missing hope, try reading the bible and perhaps joining a small bible study.

Disassociating myself ...
by dedalus inwell, it had to come to this eventually.. this winter my wife and daughter and i celebrated christmas with my in-laws, with whom we currently live (high school english teachers don't make much money!).
my in-laws have been inactive for about two years, and this year, they decided to celebrate the holidays.
one reason for this is that their son, who is eight, has multiple disabilities -- can't see, trouble hearing, other, quite sever, issues -- and christmas, with its presents and wrapping and loud carols and trees and wreaths is, well, a very accessible experience for him, the way, say, my kingdom ministry and the watchtower are not.. well, as a household we went all out.

My heart goes out to you. How is your brother-in-law. I think your letter is right to the point! Happy birthday to your daughter!

JW or Catholic scandal worse?
by JH indo you think that the pedophile problem in the watchtower organization is just as important as in the catholic church?
if we knew the statistics, and found out that there were a lot fewer pedophiles in the watchtower org.
than in other religions, would this be a victory on their part?

Catholic is a much bigger problem. (more Catholics than JW) Not worse. Both are horrible. And with the Catholic you have people in authority using their authority to their advantage. Priests, Nuns etc. With the JW's it just the people within, some may be elders but that isn't the same as a Priest. But the JW's disfellowship those who come forward, at least the Catholics don't do that.

You know this was a great question! When I first sstarted questioning things, I thought just a few things were wrong. As I started studying the bible it was like my eyes were opened. I would take a topic like resurrection and the more I read the more I knew they were wrong. Then the Trinity that was a big one...because I was convinced they were right about that; After many months of study I understand the Trinity and the key is that what they say the trinity is not true. They twist things; They actually teach a polytheist teaching. They believe in more than one God. They teach a big God and a little god; The bible does not teach that. What the bible does teach is a Tri-Unity which is really what the Trinity is all about, Anyway the more I study the more what the believe proves to be untrue. Of course they do teach good morals and that is good, but their doctrines are all screwed up.
