Are "Apostates" jumping the gun with their info on the WT to make a case?
by booker-t ini take some of the things apostates say with a "grain of salt" because many times i think they embellish the truth to make the wt look bad to make their case.
for example i have for years heard that the wt uses "satanic" images in their artwork but i have yet to see any proof of these accusations.
i have heard that jw's no longer practice "disfellowshipping" but my teenage niece was recently "disfellowshipped".

I think you are right, sometimes they do go over the top. But the Witnesses do the same thing when they are trying to prove Christianity is bad and wrong. They say stuff like we are the only religion that teaches all over the world. That is so wrong. They make a general statement like that and the rank and file will never check to see if it is true they just believe it. They do have images in their pictures though. I've seen them. There is a web site that has them posted. I will see if I can hunt it down and post it for you.

How many ex-jws move out of town to start over?
by rebel8 ini was wondering how common it is for ex-jws to relocate after leaving the borg in order to escape the bad memories of being in a cult, or to break contact with cult members.. i have wanted to move far away for as long as i can remember--even as a kid--for this purpose.
various life circumstances have delayed that--long story--but mr. rebel8 and i are thinking of moving within the next few years.
i am the one who's most interested in moving to a completely different type of place--different culture, different climate, different everything!

We moved from California to Nevada. I had family (non-witness) that lived in Las Vegas. We needed a new start. It was difficult for my husband to run into people he had known since he was a child and them not even look at him.

How much should a married woman show?
by greendawn indo you think a married woman should go out provocatively dressed?
some of my friends accept it some don't and one had big arguments with his wife about the issue until the time when he cunningly got her to become overweight something that spoilt her good looks.
think of it, a married woman going out wearing tight shorts showing so much leg and buttocks and a top that reveals too much breast, as if almost saying "i am going out to entice some men", should a dignified husband accept that?

My husband always likes me to dress up and look enticing to him (ie. other men too!) If other guys are looking then he has the last laugh because he knows I'm going home with him. I think it's a matter of trust and not being jealous. If I'm going out with my girlfriends sub conciously I will dress up a little less provocative only because I don't want any unwanted advances. I'm getting a bit older now and I'm not quite as thin as I use to be. One thing for sure I don't dress like a hoochie mama when I'm at kid functions with mine when they were younger I always dressed mom appropriately so as not to embarrass them. My kids are 18 and 21 now so its not too much of a problem anymore.

Name the good things that Jw's have or believe....
by AK - Jeff inwe always seem to get focused on the bad - and there is plenty of it for sure - and anyone who follows my posts knows i am no wt apologist by any stretch.
but focusing on the postive is a good thing in the 'moving on' process i think too.
what do you think jw's had right?.

Should I admit to JWs that I am disfellowshipped?
by jwfacts ini know about 2000 jws in sydney, and have 50 that are tax clients, so barely a week goes by without bumping into someone i know.
it seems that few of them realise that i am disfellowshipped because they talk freely to me.
last week i accidently sat next to an elder on the train and we engaged in small talk for over 30 minutes.. should i admit to these people that i am not a jw?.
-

Why would you admit to them that you are no longer a JW? I say just make small talk and unless you are asked the direct question are you a JW still or do you still attend meetings, just let them think what they may. If they do ask you, just answer them with something like, Well I've been inactive for some time. Or you can always tell them you aren't one anymore.

Maybe this is a silly question, but why do you ask? Interestingly enough I realized after I left the JW's that the trinity is not the teaching they claim it to be.

How did you cope?
by Zico inwhen you found out that this religion probably wasn't the one true religion like you had believed probably for a large portion of your life, or maybe even all of it, how did you react?
my whole life belongs to the society.
all my friends are witnesses, my family are witnesses, even my job is dedicated to the society.

It was devastating. I was so upset, I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdwon. The hardest part has been forgiving myself for allowing my self to be misled (how could I be so stupid) I wasn't raised one I became one around the age of 21-22. Then I had to tell my kids everythinkg I had taught them since birth was wrong. (they were 13 and 17) My son was batised and really belived it and my daugahter was working on getting baptised. My husband also had to be shown the way out. I would have to say my salvation was reading the bible. I decided the only thinng I knew for sure was there was a God. I had been misled by misinterpretation of the bible, why not read it for myself. In doing so I found my saviour Jesus Christ. He showed me the way. I don't belong to any organization anymore. Probably never will. I attend a non-denominational church, (I go when I feel like it some times more often some times less) It takes time to heal, time to forgive. I was so angry at first. It's been 4 years now. There is still some hurt and anger at those family/friends that shun us. I pray for them now...maybe they will find their way out. It is not an easy road. Beverly

Wife Kills Minister Husband--Motive?
by blondie intennessee bureau of investigation agent john mehr has said police know why she shot her husband, but he would not disclose the motive except to say police did not believe it was infidelity.
he would not comment on whether mary winkler had accused her husband of abuse.
court papers offered no hint of a motive..

I can think of 3 reasons she killed him. He was screwing around, He was abusing her, He was molesting their children. I would think it was one of those 3 reasons. Or maybe she was PMS and just lost it.
