funny the way our minds unwind and refocus after leaving a high control religion.. when i first left the jdubs i saw them more closely to what the entire world sees them i suppose, but not truly clearly at those early stages.

they still looked to me to be 'good people' but misguided.

as time went on, though the misguided feature remained, the 'good people' supposition faded.

I agree with your comments which is hard for me to admit after 4 decades of 100% belief in the Bible and the org. The exception- I still beleive in a creator but from the view point of a Deist which has alowed me to unite my faith with the gift of God given reason.

IMHO every xJdub should read Thomas Pane's book AGE of Reason (1775), Pane was one of the founding fathers of America, a Deist who dispised the Bible and revealed religion but believed in a creator. Don't let the date it was written stop you it is an eye opener!

After waking up (with a lot of help from JWN) and realizing I wasted 40 years of my life in WT world, Deism has prevented me from setting my hair on fire and running down the street naked!

Need suggestions-how to put together a local JWN meeting together without getting busted?

greetings to all those who are out and those living under the shadow of the org.!.

i need some suggestions on vetting people on jwn who may be in my area for a local meet-up.

i have my suspicions that we have many in my area who post.

thanks for the warning, I'm at the end of almost a 2 yr. fade and have been working on family, one was fadeing out at the same time so we are both undercover, so I may take the risk.

My motives are somewhat just curiousity and the other is to be of support to local faders after 40 yrs. in and just waking up I have come to realize what a head trip this is and just having others like people here on JWN can be a life saver. Two years ago I would be burning "me" at the cross!(oops I mean stake)

Being in for so long and an ex-elder I know how to push the envelope, but I would appreciate you pointing out any threads with the experiences of others who failed-its good to learn from others mistakes.

Catching the Manipulation in Sundays Watchtower Article

we can then find them together and then find what the scriptures or insights truly means with research, our own understanding, or maybe how it should be interpreted to ones self.

The branch is full of hypocrites, they deny the rank and file what they themselves enjoy, let's see- great room and board, free medical / dental and computers etc. not to mention building a huge recreation complex at the "farm" with a cushy retirement home for CO's, DO's and big wiggs etc.

and don't forget the ever building and expansion which requires tons of $$$$

It is amazing how they make us feel guilty for trying to support our families by telling us what to put first in our lives to be acceptable to Jah while at the same time living within an onclave with no worries being supported by the R&F

they have some balls that is for sure!

Thanks for the suggestions, and I realize you have to take a chance with this, man what a paranoid trip to be worried about adults meeting other adults-this is a free country after all!

The borg has really performed a head trip on us, if not for family I would be outta here! My days are numbered though.

Greetings to all those who are OUT and those living under the shadow of the org.!

I need some suggestions on vetting people on JWN who may be in my area for a local meet-up. I have my suspicions that we have many in my area who post. Some elders who I personally know that have stepped down without warning recently and have all but DA'd I would like to offer some support here locally.

I must be careful as I am still in as well as a fellow local comrade we are in for family and friends.

of course I would have them pm me and then look to see how long they have been posting and what they post to make sure they are not just trolls or WT spies and if comfortable send them the details of the meet via pm. Thats as far as I have gotten so far.

has anyone pulled this off? ( except for the bandaid on th pinky deal at the DC )

how many are there on this board that are also still in the society, especially acting in a position of leadership?

i think it's pretty funny they always talked about how "jehovah would root out the wickedness" yet theres people on here getting invites to "zone visits" that many other blind and faithful people weren't invited to.. .

if any of you are on your way out and have the ability to give a talk before you go, you should cratifly morph a talk into discussion about the origins of the society, by the time its obvious what you're doing you will have given 100-150 people seeds of doubt before they yank you off the stage, and the fact that they would be physically escorting you off the stage when you were simply talking about the "founder" of the society should be alarming and suspicious enough to those watching.. .

Don't get me wrong, I consider myself part of the gang, but I'm new here as you can see and this site has been a huge help to me during my transition (like a half way house) to be able to find others who are in the same situation (stuck in for family & 40 yr. friendships) and not like what the org. has told us about apostates.

It is clear to me that if I am still posting and spending alot of time here and then bash others for the way they decide to leave the cult then I would be in the "we" category. ( I don't mean everyone on here does this, but many do)

It is interesting and frightening at the same time the mental hold that the org. has on people who have long since removed themselves physically from the oppressors of the WTBS, yet post as if they are still in complaing about the same things, why not move on?

Again I think this is a great place with some very insightful people as only an ex-witness could understand another witness who is going through the emotional and mental turmoil of realizing your whole life has been a lie.

Sorry I know this has gone off the topic, but Teary's comment set me off a bit.

If I,m still here in a year you can throw this post in my direction.

People on JWN should not judge how and when others get out, because everyone on JWN (some have" claimed to be out" for 10- 30 yrs.)are still captive to the WBTS org.in one form or another or they would have moved on long ago.

i have been noticing we ex-jw's are very different in our choices of beliefs once we leave the wts.

some choose christianity, others flee christianity.

some find they can't beieve in anything any more.

I have been moved to Deism over the last year, it makes the most sense to me after being a witness for 40 yrs. and all that Bible study and WT. Propaganda and proselytizing.

I cannot deny there is a Creator but I don't believe in any “revealed” religions or holy books and especially the priest craft that goes with it. They ALL make a mockery of what we call God.

The Creation tells us all about the Creator and with the power of our God-given reason we can figure out most of the correct things to do in life.

We are in our time slot in the “evolution” of man that the Creator has set in motion and it is our responsibility to live a good and honorable life and contrary to what we have been taught about living life in “the waiting room “ expecting God to save us, we should do all we can during “our time” to help the human race to evolve to where we no longer hang on to superstitious religious beliefs handed down from our ancestors that have done nothing but cause pain and suffering.

All religious beliefs slow the process of evolution to where the Creator wants us to be heading. (perfection?) He is the Clock maker and is just letting it run without any interference.

Deism teaches me not worry about what happens (if anything) after death, I will find out soon enough. I am confident there is something else for us, but as to what that is, only at death will we find out for sure.

I will respect others beliefs and not try to convert them, but I will open the door to helping them to use their gift of reason only if they inquire and want to remove the shackles of superstition.

(Maybe some JW's will wake up and participate in the human race)

I will respect all creation and continue to learn about how to live and treat my fellow man from lessons in creation.

How many on JWN still trapped in Org. & will it get easier with time?

i have only been mentally out for just over a year and i find it difficult to live this double life, ( ex-elder/reg pioneer).

i'm still in for probably the same reason as most who post here=.

a wife that i cherish= who would be destroyed and kick me to the curb.

Well you almost sound like some kind of "expert" in the area of relationships and marriage (sarcasm intended) You do make some good points , but are missing a couple of real life situations.

1) my wife was already programed by the Org. long before we met and she truly loves her God Jehovah and would never leave her friends and the cong. by some slick deprogramming moves on my part. Remember her training comes from the experts at the HQ and because of some attempts on my part already to test the waters and get her to think,the witness apostate red flag goes up and it's run to the elders time. That would not be good wright now as you know.

She will have to come to conclusions on her own as I believe most “thinking” witnesses will eventually do as the end never seems to get here, and for "us" to survive relationship wise it will have to be her opening the door, otherwise as was stated earlier she will always blame me for her losses.

2) she fell "in love" with the person she met, namely a very active reg. pioneer climbing the theocractic ladder to elder and once there did not like the time commitment but put up with it because she is well programed to "sacrifice" for Jehovah and in the org. having your husband an elder is as much status you will ever get in their world. (weird)

3) my wife has very limited knowledge the person I was prior to entering WT prison and to say that I can make this radical change in belief and persona is somehow going to swoon her to follow me out of the WTBS is just plain wishful thinking, she fell for a die hard fanatic JW and that is all she has ever known and for her to look at my changes and love this now apostate man she is living with would amount to adultery as if she actually was seeing another man.

4)you can't compare other marriages outside the Org. their religious beliefs basically mean nothing and require nothing and it is not usually an issue for two people of different religious backgrounds to coexist unless one decides to become a JW, because as you know the org. is very demanding an requires you put everything below service to them including your marriage. I never heard of a divorce because the husband or wife became or quit being methodist for example, but I have seen it many times in wt. world.

4) I can't relate to the Adam & Eve situation- as I have always thought of that as being just what it is a FAIRYTALE and one that does not end with "and they lived happily ever after"

Thank you for all the fine suggestions and comments, just a couple of points, many have suggested I try to slowly convince my wife to see the “light” and just use the Bible and not any WT literature and eventually she may come around. Good idea except I have been moving more to Deism in my beliefs and do not have any faith in any “holy” books or organized religion, although I do believe in a Creator.

Erbie's comments are on target with how I feel

The truth of the matter is my wife is very happy as a JW and it would wipe her out if I was successful in pulling her out.

When I gave a public talk I always included the statement “ If this is not God's organization – then he doesn’t have one”

well I never thought I would be promoting the latter.

I am a prisoner in a prison that I decided to enter in 1974 and now I really see the bars of the cell that I never noticed before because I bought into the fantasy and blindly followed a group of men that started a very successful movement and an extremely efficient security system of elders, CO's, DO's and fellow inmates to keep people in with no hope of escape without destroying other lives.

I guess I will fade as much as possible and end up like several in our cong. That are just “there” no one expects anything of them. Wow when serving as an elder I considered them spiritual deadbeats and couldn't figure them out-now I know and have joined them in silent protest.
