  Shocking Atrocities!

  H. G. Wells held that the spirit of Constantine dominated church affairs, and he observed:

  “The idea of stamping out all controversy and division, stamping out all thought,

  by imposing one dogmatic creed upon all believers, . . .

  is the idea of the single-handed man who feels that to work at all

  he must be free from opposition and criticism.

  The history of the Church under [Constantine’s] influence becomes now therefore a history of the violent struggles that were bound to follow upon his sudden and rough summons to unanimity.

  From him the Church acquired the disposition to be authoritative and unquestioned, to develop a centralized organization and run parallel to the empire.”

  Charges of heresy proved to be a ruthless scheme to eliminate opponents who dared to defy Christendom’s church councils.

  Any who expressed differing opinions or even attempted to present Scriptural proof refuting the dogmas and canons (church laws) of the councils were branded as heretics.

  The determination to stamp out opposition led to dreadful atrocities.

  Most of those pronounced guilty of heresy against the popular dogma of the council were burned at the stake, suffering the agony of a slow death as a public spectacle—supposedly in the name of Christ!

  "recognizing true christianity - after the apostles died, true worship became contaminated by the progressive development of many forms of imitation christianity.

  forseeing this, jesus disclosed one way to distinguish these counterfeit forms of christianity from true chistianity.

  when I read the same article, I came to the same conclusion:

  positive critic, constructive, truthful, should NEVER be

  blocked, but as the apostle Paul said: " KEEP TESTING

  whether you are in the faith, keep proving what you

  yourselves are."

  19 Jehovah’s organization does not discourage sincere, timely questions, as some opposers mistakenly claim. (1 Peter 1:10-12)
  However, the Bible counsels that we avoid foolish, speculative questions. (Titus 3:9)
  Asking reasonable questions and searching God’s Word and Christian publications to find Scriptural answers can increase our accurate knowledge and can thus strengthen our confidence in Jehovah.

  Do you dig out older publications to expand and deepen your knowledge on subjects about which questions arise?
  Have you really studied these earlier publications?... How is your background of knowledge? ... Never think: "Oh, I know most of that."
  For you will find, indeed, that you do not and that you will be strengthened by your additional study...once you have completed your study of them you can then look to even older publications...
  Only by studying earlier publications and digging back through previous issues of The Watchtower kept in the library at your local Kingdom Hall.
  There is much in the way of spiritual riches and aids toward mature knowledge in these earlier publications, and their study is most certainly worth your time. “

  Again we see a “river” of water of truth being channeled to the earth out from Jehovah’s spiritual temple. The waters begin to flow through the channel of the “slave” class from their restoration in 1919.

  Note the “river” here is described as going eastward, in the direction of greater light, apparently signifying that the Society’s publications of truth would be progressing in the light of truth as the years advanced after 1919.
