the elders keep dropping by every couple of saturday's after bookstudy to check on us and try to encourage us back to meetings.
it has worked out that my husband has been gone when they visit so they keep coming back hoping to catch him sometime.
anyway, i told my hubby that we should at least go to the meetings once a week to keep them off our trail, which i went this past thursday night and wouldn't you know it the one elder approached me and mentioned that they still want to sit down with us and go over an article on meeting attendance.
as you can see you've received many answers. I will not give you any more suggestions but I can say that in my experience with various similar cases, Amazing gave you the most "legal, balanced and sound advice". Btw it works... even here in Europe, expecially the part to have "everything in writing from the elders" . If they refuse...too bad!
in addition to my deceptive jw elders and justice series, i also feel that a series on taking our lives back would be useful, and will bring in a lot of shared thoughts.
one of the things that i became aware of as i left the organization of jehovahs witnesses is all that had been lost, never accomplished, or stolen because of time, money and energy devoted to the interests of the watch tower organization.
I do really like your posts. This one touches aspect of our life which have been greatly influenced by "thousands of articles" that sometimes have given " a wrong view " even of the most innocent actions and thoughts in the rela- tionship among men and women. The way you bring it out will help some to have a more "balanced" view of such relationship...more like on the line of our great ex. Jesus Christ.
Thanks for your time and your precious efforts, agape J.C.MacHislopp
I do find myself in complete agreement with your remark :
”. These days this seems, in my own opinion, to be a way of warding off questions about the way things are being operated in the WTS. That way they can say what they like and the “sheep” follow trustingly. "
Many forgot about it and many more had no knowledge
of it.
"Read the book of Numbers (chapter 2 for example) and you find tribal groups assembled by a "signal", an "ensign", a "banner", or "standard". Fred Franz tried to hide this fact by translating de'gel as "three tribe division" - even tho the words "three tribe" do not appear in the Bible text (they're in brackets, accordingly). Other scriptures that use de'gel really stretch this unlikely translation, as when a single tribe is being led out by it's "three tribe division" (??? how about being led by the BANNER OF ITS DIVISION??!!) "
Thanks for taking your time to share the lastest "news " about the D.C. 2001!
From what you write there is not much change.
To Farkel:
“Over the last few years several have commented that the convention organizers are frustrated because they can't find any local experiences with local residents to share at the assemblies. It's a real problem and especially for Circuit Assemblies: twenty congregations, zero experiences worth relating at an assembly. Why doesn't the WTS get a clue and realize that their tactics and recruitment methods are NOT working. Same is true with baptisms. Many circuit assemblies have only one, two or even no baptisms these days.”
True points. It really what happens in this part of Europe! I also wonder why they don't get the message!
while much attention is given to doctrine in sites such as this, very little is noted about the watchtower societys intellectual dishonesty in its publications, especially when it comes to quotations.. oftentimes the societys writers will cite a scholar or author of some repute: "professor blank observes that blah, blah, blah.
" the reader assumes from the quotation that professor blank is in agreement with the organizations position, of course, and that the quotation chosen accurately depicts the authors thoughts.. heres the catch: the words between the quotation marks may be accurate, but the snippet may not at all faithfully represent someones actual thesis or position.
much like a newspaper ad for a movie that quotes a reviewer as saying "monumental!
