The first album I ever bought with my own mind was "James Taylor - Sweet Baby James" and I got in soooo much trouble with my 'dub parents 'cos it was "worldly druggy music."
James is so laid back it's hard to imagine how anyone could have objected to it.
A while back I bought a double-CD set of James Taylor live in concert somewhere and I still really like it.
i've been lurking around this place for a good long while now, and i've even posted now and again under another handle, but i thought i'd start afresh and 'do it right' this time by making with the formal introductions.
i was going to post this in the friends forum, but i'm a little bit shy for that (it took me many months to make it as far as junior member - that's how shy i am, lol).. anyway, my story... i was born into the wt - my mother's been a baptised jw for over 30 years now, and my dad's been what i like to call a 'camp follower' for the same length of time - although the wt nearly did for me right at the start - there were complications prior to the birth which put mine and my mother's life in danger involving the blood issue (how an org which preaches against abortion and even the 'morning after pill' can effectively sanction the death of an unborn child and its mother for want of a transfusion is an outstanding piece of doublethink that never ceases to astonish me...).
my three older sibs (all wee ones when my mother was 'assimilated') went their way and did the 'sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll' thing for varying lengths of time (they're all now 'reassimilated'), while i remained the 'good boy' *slaps self round the head* .
I suppose I was considered a "good example" by the publishers but the other elders I'm sure thought I was a bit of a trouble maker because I questioned lots of things. Same in Bethel, I often didn't just accept their "company line" all the time.
I guess that's why I eventually saw the truth of the "truth."
i really love this web site and yes i'm a jw still, have been for 8 years now, i'm 35 and am married to a jw and have two boys one is 1-1/2 and the other 5. for about 2 to 3 years now i'm starting to see that its not really the truth.
the brothers, sisters and elders dont really care about anyone, the watchtower is ruining my life, i have been depressed for awhile now and i'm on anti depressants as i started feeling suicidal as i'll never be good enough as i hate meetings, i hate going door to door, and it doesn't make any sense that jehovah will destroy good people just because they don't follow its doctrins.
its like saving to your son if you don't do what i tell you i will kill you.
