from my youngest days, i remember being told that we should be careful because of the demons.
they are everywhere, just waiting to pounce on us.
we were told to stay away from windchimes since they "attract" the demons.
I never believed they existed, even when I was an elder. But I had to keep that "under my hat" and tow the party line.
Actually, there was quite a few things I didn't believe in, angels, the flood, holy spirit, God....to name a few. I guess that's why I eventually found my way out.

I survived the day at the Marae OK, the demons didn't get me. LOL. And since this is an urban Marae, they had caterers, so no boil-up or hangi, thank god. That stuff is foul!
It amazes me that as a dub you're led to believe such nasty things about the Maori culture. Of course it steeped in spiritism and worship of the ancestors, but so what? I enjoyed learning so much about Maori beliefs and gaining greater understanding of the indigenous people of this country.

Is he still a dub or has he had the good sense to avoid the borg? I hope so, he was one of motorsports greats. It will be great to see him race again in 'ol "05".

Well I hate to disagree with y'all but I don't think it's about the money so much as the power. After all, 1 billion US dollars is not that big a deal for a global organisation with 90 odd branch offices. I really think that the reported turnover is a natural consequence of owning a lot of valuable property in NY and other places, plus the contributions of a bunch of "borg drones".
I grant you that my experience is limited, I only served in a branch office in a little backwater like NZ for 5 years, but what I did see was men with a lust for power and control rather than lust for money.
And to be fair, I have seen some of that money used in some rather altruistic ways. The South Pacific region has some fierce weather form time-to-time and many 'dubs living in the Pacific Islands have had their homes destroyed by flood, hurrcanes etc. The WTS has donated money to help them rebuild several times.
Please don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to defent the WTS, I hate the barstards, but I'm trying to say that I don't think the prime motivation of the WTS is money, it's power and control.
