  Correction Re: Hall

  in the "famous jw" thread, i posted that general william hall had served as an officer in one of the 3 early corporations of the society.. i made that post based on general recollection.

  however, after making that post i had a nagging feeling that something was wrong, so i checked my notes.

  i can't find anything to document that hall was ever a corporate officer.

  I just stumbled accross a BBS called Jehovahs-witness.com that's obviously apostate. They even say on top: "remember not to stumble the brothers!" But then it has apostate/opposition links on the bottom. So it's totally obvious. It reaks of the spirit of rebellion. P-U!!

  I know the site. Another is H2O another one to stay away from or classify as NOT useful. They are so angry.
  It is just a place for those too proud to submit to Jehovah's discipline. They are all victims of some arcane action. As if no one ever has to deal with human imperfection and show love...
  I often bemuse on the simple fact that there are no such sites for former X members. X being ANY religion. Those former members just move on. Not so with Jehovah's Witnesses. Don't they see it?

  If it was their choice to leave, fine.......leave. Or if they did something that caused them to be disfellowshipped, well they knew the rules when they made their dedication.
  But mostly they just hate. And this is supposed to convince us that they are right? I think not.

  The C.O. and elder came to my house last night!

  please tell me i made the right decision.

  last night the co and another elder showed up at our house just 5 minutes after my husband got home from work (i think they were sitting on the side of the road just waiting for him to come home)*stalkers*, anyway to make along story short, the pressure was on.

  i felt like they were there to get us to da ourselves.

  I would like to preface my comments with the facts that I have never punched anyone in the face in anger, nor have I ever been arrested.

  However, I think it is about time that visiting COs understand that they can't just waltz into an inactive JWs home and treat them like dirt.

  I have been waiting for them to show up at my home for several years. THIS IS THEIR FAIR WARNING: If you treat me in my own home in any way less than what any normal human would treat anoher in their own home, I PROMISE YOU THAT YOU AND YOUR ELDER LACKEY WILL LEAVE ON A STRETCHER!!!

  I don't care what the consequences are; criminally or civilly. You can't damage me more than you already have.

  Thanks to Outcast for posting that GC link. Did anyone notice that the Mod closed the thread before any more complaints about seating could be aired.

  I believe it said there are 700+ FOOLS (doesn't include the many EXs secretly participating over there) registered at that DB, which won't even permit posts which speak negatively about legitimate trivialities(sp) such as convention seating.

  If I have to rip out my brain and gonads to be in the right, I'd rather be wrong. If Jah wants brainless Robots, he should have created such to begin with.

  OR, is it possible that the reason for 6000+ years of human existence is to give sufficient time for enough Robots to occur naturely? He gets the Robots He wanted all along and still is able to say he got them by choice rather than creation?

  i came across the above book while i was browsing in a bookstore.

  since i was on my lunch hour, i could not read it fully, but did quickly look over the information.

  it spent a great deal of time discussing matters pertaining to russell.

  Dear Troubled:

  I have never read this book, but when I first started researching Watchtower history several years ago, I often ran into quotes from this book, many of which turned out to be inaccurate exaggerations.

  I seem to even recall one lengthy historical reference to Russell which is in fact pertaining to another man by the same name. The date of such was so obvious that it did not pertain to Charles Taze Russell that Martin must have known that he was printing a lie.

  Check out the links the others have provided. Stay away from any not administered by former Witnesses, and then even be wary of any of those that say Russell was a Mason, that overblow the Miracle Wheat or reading Greek issue, etc.

  There's plenty of good info to nail shut the JW coffin without having to resort to misrepresentations or even outright lies.

  In the "famous Jw" thread, I posted that General William Hall had served as an Officer in one of the 3 early corporations of the society.

  I made that post based on general recollection. However, after making that post I had a nagging feeling that something was wrong, so I checked my notes. I can't find anything to document that Hall was ever a corporate officer. On one page of my notes regarding Hall, I did have a circled notation regarding Morton Edgar being listed as a WTS Officer in 1912. I probably have mixed these facts together.

  However, this does not negate the fact that US Army General William Hall was a prominent leader of the Bible Students in the late 190X and early 191X, which would account for the attitude which would allow Dwight Eisenhower to enter West Point in 1911.

  Here are some facts regarding Hall:

  Hall was a highly decorated career US Army officer, who distinguished himself in the western states Indian Wars, and later during the Spanish-American War in the Philipines. Hall first came into contact with the org when he picked up some literature being distributed at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. By 1911, he had become a "prominent" Bible Student, most likely due solely to his military reputation. Hall presented the opening remarks at the BS Convention in September 1911, and was appointed to accompany Russell and 5 others on Russell's famous world tour later that same year. Hall continued a prominent Bible Student at least until Russell's death in 1916. However, I have no further info on Hall after Russell's death. I suspect that Hall left the org after Rutherford became President and started flipflopping the org's stance on the military.

  Hall's prominent military career included serving at the War Department in Washington DC. In 1910, he worked in the Adjutant General's Office. In 1911, his rank was "Major General." In 1912, he was promoted to "Brigadier General", and served as THE Adjutant General for 4 months. Hall may have continued in the military until around 1916. He died in 1927, at age 79.

  in reading posts here for the past couple days, i obviously am only slightly familiar with bill bowen and his crusade.. is bb still regularly attending meetings, and being treated like a proverbial "leper"?.

  if so, i say that about 100 of us drive to his congregation for a sunday meeting, attend respectfully, but talk to and treat bb inside the kh like the "hero" that he deserves!

  I find it difficult to find a tease/jest/etc anywhere in that statement, but if its just me, then accept my apology.

  When I did the last post above, I had hurriedly read several of the posts, and had originally interpreted OUTNFREE's post as in jest. However, after re-reading it, he/she replied in anger.

  What's wrong with you people. I acknowledged in my original tread that years in the Org had made me a little "goofy", to say the least, but after posting here for 2 days, I'm starting to think that I may be in better shape than most.

  This thread was intended to be humorous. Sorry, I'll restrain myself, or probably better, just go away. I don't need more negatives in my life.

  New! Hello! Question???

  i apologize if this has been previously covered, but i'm new here, and i couldn't find what i'm looking for.. can some of the recent convention attendees please tell me what is the theme of the upcoming fall circuit assemblies?.

  i "walked away" around 1988, and i have not kept up with current jw events.

  can someone explain the yearly schedule/names of conventions/assemblies.
